As I was trying to wrap my mind around the church shooting, it was quickly over shadowed by this senseless random act of violence that became a multiplier.

This person was sick..we shouldn't be looking for a leftist or a rightist scapegoat but focus on three things. One, he caused a lot of harm in his moment of selfish behavior. Two, he chose to carry out this act--not the second amendment, not the left or the right. Three, if we can not find a way to stop vilifying, looking for labels and truly try to unite in all of this hatred--evil will win.

Bump stops have been selling for a while now, for those who'd like to get the automatic feel without breaking federal law. Those who take advantage of their range time may find them as a hinderance.

There are many who collect firearms and would never entertain the notion to do something so heinous. Th number of firearms you have or collect isn't an indicator of your potential to commit an insane act. Those background checks would be followed with FBI agents rushing into a store after every citizen hits a certain targeted thresh hold to be arrested and locked away from family and loved ones forever or until some civilian or government shrink runs enough experiments to deem them a non-danger to the public.

Why do we need to further flame this senseless act by uncredited sources, trying to gather insight by the person's FB page (NCIS and Criminal Minds has turned every day citizens into Sherlocks) and using the act to further another personal/political agenda. Why can we not grieve, heal and become better in the face of adversity?

We can all agree this act was horrible. If so, it's the first step we have in moving forward to making positive changes in our communities.

@MiM thanks for the clarification! I've received different responses in regards to the swing arm size needed to run the 305 but I'd rather stay on the side of safe than sorry. I know that a couple of people with turbos are running the SLR wheel with the 305 without any swing arm changes. In the end, 285/295 in Gmax will be the direction I'm heading! I still have no regrets grabbing the SL despite having to run the smaller tire as noted. If further seat time by those who've only switched to the SLR wheels yield no issues with running the 305 on an SL I'll perhaps be doing that in the future. Thanks again.

Okay Mim, I see where you clarified the wheel SL vs SLR. Thanks.

That is correct even though you didn't ask me. On the Polaris website they have advertised the 305 upgrade for a while but it's just the stock looking rims. I will however be upgrading my shocks to Hahn QA'S.

    RNJ12

@rnj12 thanks again and the question was for any member with seat time...that was willing to give the correct information and of course and honest feedback of the setup. I'm like a kid soaking up everything Sling related and mine hasn't made it into the driveway yet LOL By the time it makes it here, I'll have enough mods to keep me busy for a bit. So, now I'm going to start hunting for a spare OEM factory wheel that I can toss that 305 on :). I'm trying hard not to contact the dealer and have them just add a new one but my inner frugal self tells me to save that money for another mod lol

@rnj12 thanks for sending the pictures and giving the feedback!! That 305 really changes the look of the rear end of the sling!

@SlingLow I received a brochure from Polaris yesterday that showed where they were making the changes for the rear tire. I was initially hesitant to jump so quickly up to the 305, without an incremental step with the 285 but now I'm almost sold. I passed on buying the SLR because a lot of the "R" options that were decorative would be coming off at some point so it wasn't cost effective for me but I really wanted that rear tire. So, I can just run the 305 without any other suspension upgrades needed correct?

    Thanks!
Send all those kneeling bastards to a Jason Aldean concert!!!!!

That's a horrible thing to say. It's so very sad that the shooting took place but for you to suggest that the lives of others who don't agree with you be placed at a concert that would perhaps cause the loss of their lives--

For all those who clicked like to this comment, your character has truly been shown and it saddens me to think that when one disagrees with any of your personal beliefs, they should be executed in such a manner.

I purchased a 2016.5 SL as well and I've been weighing the two ...to hydroplane or not. Considering that I rarely ride in the rain these days on my sport bike and will be doing the same on the Sling, I'm considering going with the wider tire. I'm also thinking of picking up a spare rear factory tire for those times I may want to road trip the Sling, and don't want to risk running into wet weather. I read the thread where you and another forum member spoke very highly about the General G-Max and how you wished you'd switched earlier...the responses about asymmetrical or not on all corners made me do more reading/research. The 500AA wear rating on the tire makes it very good in my personal opinion. This is where you can't beat the experience of riders with more seat time and I appreciate the feedback.

@Goats_Hogs, I'm with you when it comes to using good products to make life easier LOL I'm actually looking forward to giving these products a try. I may even consider doing a few coats on the sport bike while I wait for completion of my trailer. I'm definitely going to apply it to wheels, as I'm not a fan of brake dust. You've put quite a few miles on your SS. What model sling do you have? What size rear tire are you running? I'm trying to resist the urge to run a 285 right off the back and try to get more time with the factory setup but the stance of the 285 and 305 make it hard.

I guess SlingLow was right about us us filling time while waiting lol

@MiM <scratching head> I mean I love the sling life but not the swing the other way life LOL I'm sure my wife and your wife wouldn't approve of us washing together. Now, washing the slings together sure why not but you have a custom paint job and I'd personally think you might want to see what's best for that new clear coat. I am in SA, NE area. As soon as my new enclosed trailer is finished we'll have to meet up and you can help me avoid the newbie modding mistakes. Although I've already started building up a nice stash of mods as mine sits in the dealer storage area waiting for pick up.

@SlingLow, he opened the doorway for that one lol

@Goats_Hogs Awesome! Thanks for replying! At one point in my life I was an overpaid auto detailer and I tend to over extend myself with my detail work. So, I'm trying to take newer approaches that are less complicated when dealing with plastics. Your maintenance regimen speaks volumes about the product and desire to keep your SS and Harley clean! I would give you a hard time about the Harley pic I came across that you posted but I'm going to let you make it after you so graciously responded with a wealth of information that will point me in a different direction perhaps when it comes to maintaining the exterior of my SS. I kind of miss the days when distributors would pull up to the garage with more candy than a Snap-On truck. I'd get dizzy drunk on an order on high end waxes. I still maintain a spot on the detailers forums just to make sure I don't completely lose my touch. Thanks again, I'll be ordering the basic kit of DP and some Wizards for sure!

@Zorasmiles I agree about branding. As a product development manager for an aftermarket Jeep accessories company I detest some of what the owner requires us to do in regards to brand size and placement.

As a new company and needing to have visibility in the slingshot market you almost have to have some visible logo. It might be a simple tag off to the side. The bags are the only thing that currently has a logo.

The sad thing is that if you don't brand (trademark) and your products get duplicate in appearance (so common these days) know one really knows if you are getting the original. Like I said it's a very fine line.

@Ruptured Duck I completely agree with the visibility of the upstart and competing in the slingshot market it's a must to have the visibility. YES, I completely detest weeding through so many fake items to get to the original when trying to get a product that I want, so I'm good with product trademarks and copyrighting. I know the backside of being robbed by companies who hoover waiting for a new product so that they can quickly order "one" and produce a few thousand to sell after copying. Honestly, I've missed seeing the bags and will have to search after posting this to give me an idea of what Mim is stating.

I've seen but not used Top Coat yet. I got some Dual Polymer, and I liked it well enough that I bought a gallon of it. I'm still on the original quart bottle. It works very well, and works on the plastic also. After 2 summers, and 25,000 miles, my plastic looks better than it did new.

@Goats_Hogs may I ask if you're using the DualPolymer Waterless Car Wash, Polish and Protective Acrylic Coating on the ABS plastics? Does it maintain a very nice shine with no dull haze? Any superficial scratching noticed? Last but not least do you actually use it without washing the sling first, or do you wash and apply? Thanks

@MiM yes I was not wanting to point out the large branding most use, so thanks for bringing it up. @Ruptured Duck I understand the desire for branding on a product, even if small but it also adds to the overall cost to the customer. I have done more advertising for manufacturer's who's items are logo free than the ones who make me detest seeing my vehicle as a running advertisement. I may be one of the few who actually like my vehicles sticker and logo free, unless it's added for a personal touch..say if we ordered the mats with a personal logo, phrase. At the end of the day I understand the business side. How about putting an embroidered tag on the back of the floor mats with the MeanSling name and/or logo could be an option vs embroidery onto the mats themselves. Definitely looking like a top notch product and soliciting feedback to put out the best product is awesome.

I purchased some aftermarket mats for a couple of my cars once and I'd venture to say the product was better than the big name manufacturer's product! The seller sent out samples of the fabric for selection and made it a painless process. I have talked them up to every BMW, Porsche, Benz, or any car lover who asks about them. They had an excellent price point and the mats have worn well, with no complaints from me.

Thanks for the time you're spending to bring a quality product that's functional.

Depends on the mood and the day we have planned--which will normally dictate what the CCW is for the day. Glock, Springfield, S&W, SIG and a few other close friends are always nice to have within arms reach! Weekend before last we picked up a few more "keep them honest" firearms lol The new Gen 5's, SIG, Beretta .22 for the daughter and a pair of TAC14's followed me home!!

Home defense firearms are normally a 5+ shotgun that's semi-automatic to clear the window of an unwanted guest, or perhaps one trying to make their way up a hallway.

Palmetto State Armory has the Mossberg 590 Shockwave (we'd like a pair to match up with the TAC14's) on sale but we're trying to patiently wait to get them locally to avoid transfer fees. We like these and the TAC's for their size, lower recoil and ability to keep convenient for self defense. Downside, I guess would be capacity and remembering that you'd better not try to shoulder or put close to your face!

Ammo...we love ammo LOL CCI as many mentioned is awesome for .22LR. The speed, accuracy and rare firing issues making it a great ammo for plinking. We tend to stay away from steel or aluminum case ammo and stay strictly with brass. With Kimber we definitely purchase the more expensive ammo as recommended.

I generally will carry some type of 9mm unless it's an XDS45! The wife will carry a .380 and 9mm or .380 and 45.

Now, with HiPoint... They have become more reliable but they are still fighting a horrible reputation that they rightfully earned by flooding the market with crappy firearms. Their firearms are ugly and leaves you not desiring a second date lol On the upside any bullet that makes it out of the barrel has the ability to stop a bad guy.

I love the BFR's and Desert Eagles but the wife hates firing them...they are a one shot and done for her. It's like her at the range with the shotguns--maybe 20 shots and that's it!

I'm seeing this make my OCD COD DOC kicking in with the thought of this panel already and I've yet to take order of my sling LOL The thought of the red looks great to make the rear end pop but what about the day to day driving with crud build up as mentioned. How often will I be whipping out the pressure washer to knock off the grime to keep the red plate clean??!??! Perhaps the black would allow me to have a bit more patience if I walked by and noticed a little grime from the tire slinging up road crud... Or just maybe one in each color...someone please come up with a cure to the sling addiction..okay not a complete cure but something to tame it a bit LOL
