Update. Found the head to header gasket at Advanced Auto, about eight bucks, Felpro 97122. Angie from Welter sent me a copper crush gasket for free. All sealed up and ready for test ride.

When we grounded our machines at the shop we drilled a hole in the floor by the power panel or transformer (many of our machines run on DC for smoother operation) and drove the copper rod into earth. I was cleaning up my play room and found some of the pieces I made, most are used in beer/energy/soda can lid making. Our shop tolerances were held at .0002, hence some of the "spare/test" pieces.

Looks like your going to have a really nice shop when it is done. Following this thread.slingshotinfo.com/wcf/index.php?attachment/69024/slingshotinfo.com/wcf/index.php?attachment/69026/

ok thanks. I just knew it had to be easier than going to the local parts store. If you can't tell them the exact year make and model they can't find it in the computer.

Is the triangle style gasket proper even if the copper ring is in use? The Welter flange is cut for the ring.

Looking for the numbers and source for the head to exhaust manifold gasket, and the copper compression ring for header to exhaust flange.

I have had the problem of a backfire when shifting in the upper RPM range. Usually indicates a fresh air leak into to the exhaust. I have removed the header (1320) and do not see any obvious places that have been leaking so I want to replace both gaskets and ring. I wonder if an application of the red gasket sealer during install would be of benefit.

    What say you?

Glad to see your getting stuff from Eastwood. I tried for over four weeks to buy from them using my ten percent veterans discount, went through two CSRs and they both gave up. Finally bought my Eastwood stuff through Jeff's using my veteran discount without any problems, and Jeff's base price was less. Bought my dual volt powder coat gun for $112 shipped for free.

Good job on the wiring, I put my ground pin up on my plugs, some people like it some don't.

Great idea! I just would like people to start designing vehicles that get good mileage from the beginning. I get close to 60 mpg in my Volkswagen Jetta, yes it is the same one called out in the Volkswagen dieselgate scandal. I had to take my mods off to do the recall work that put it back to 32 miles per gallon, then return it to modded after they screwed it up. If i can make it run 60 miles on a gallon why cant the smart engineers do the same from the factory. Why in hell are we so far behind the rest of the world? Many countries have minimum milage requirments that go way beyond ours.

Why does my 3000 pound, four door, five passenger, air conditioned, heated, enclosed Jetta get 60 mpg and my 1800 pound no frills Slingshot get only 28 mpg. What is wrong with this picture?

If the gas engine in the sling gives up at some point I'm going for a 4 cylinder diesel, maybe VW, maybe other. I know I can tune the crap out of it and get great performance and stellar fuel economy.

Dang, sorry to hear of your illness. And your correct, dont be a tough guy, the germs dont care if your Chuck Norris and Bruce Lee rolled into one, their gonna win. I have in the past dealt with severe dehydration and did not know what was going on, took five minutes to tell the EMT my name. EMT said he was going to "plunge a big bore needle in my arm and it was going to hurt like hell", I told him go ahead, he looked at my wife then told me it had been in for five minutes. Long story short little stuff can knock your dick in the dirt, take care of the little stuff before it becomes the big stuff, nobody like a dirty dick.

Max pressure should be on sidewall of tire. In general the door/frame sticker gives you the recommended pressure of the stock tire. When other than stock size and brand are installed always go with the tire manufactures sidewall recommendations. With that being said, I have lowered that recommendation of inflation by a few pounds for better ride quality, and traction. Watching tread wear will also give you some guidelines as to where the tire is happy.

Ritchy from Boston has been eating to many Boston Baked Beans. He is full of gas, as shite. Anybody think maybe the size of the lens, or to port shaped window, may have an effect? And North America is not located in Indian Ocean below the African continent.

PS Elvis bought a Slingshot just after I did, we ride together all the time.

Nice recovery, eh? I keep my dog's chew toy in the......uh...... uh, nevermind!
Hey @slingo, you're basically local to me in Brush Prairie (north Vancouver) and @BryanL in Oregon City. We'll look you up when we start planning rides along with @LargeCar when he's up from Oklahoma this spring and summer. We plan on hitting Mt. St. Helens for a calendar shot among other things. Love to have you and your bride join us!

Looking forward to the ride up the mountain, or what is still there. Not sure when we will get there but it should be in the better weather time of the year. The more slings in the ride the better it should be, I think we need another bent shovel run, then maybe a Detroit run as well. How about a coast ride as well. Looks like I need to be there for a couple months.

@Jeff Welter, I would like just the pipe to run up the side then curve over to the existing cans were they were placed stock, like what is pictured only just the pipe, no muffler. My issue is when I air down or get hard on the throttle I wind up with tire rub on the pipe in its stock configuration. I have the stock pipe so close to the bodywork I have had to put a heat shield between them.

@StickerDick did a American Flag vinyl for me for the center of the Madstad roof. Looks awesome and is not degrading at all. He did the workup and sent a goofed vinyl along with the good one, still cannot find the goof, it just was not up to his standard. Very reasonable priced as well.
