Display MoreThey were first released (delivered) in November 2014 as a 2015. The base model was grey and had 17" front and 18" rear wheels and tires. The S/L was red and have 18" fronts and a 20" rear tire. The sizes stayed the same for base + s/l until the new 2017 SLR which has gone to a wider rear tire (305)
The only other major differences are the additional colors and a few minor changes (fender skirts, windshields, roll bar hoops, emblems etc)
They all have the same drive train, brakes (except the 2017 slr), suspension (except for the newest 2017 sport model that was just announced)
There's enough aftermarket parts and pieces to make it your own very easily, so eith find a color you like, or decide to wrap/paint whatever you end up with or leave it stock. You'll have as much fun as you want
Do they sell aftermarket bluetooth systems and rear view cameras if i were to buy the original model stock and install it

Any major differences in the different years of the models? Ive been looking into used slings and saw some from 2014-15 . All i read was a difference in tire thickness

Display MoreYeah, I would definitely lean towards it being the engine that initially started the vehicle over, and the rest of the framework helped with the deflection.
This is without doubt however a testimonial to the top. That Sequoia did exactly what an SUV is supposed to do to a Slingshot, and that is drive over it during a frontal collision.
So very glad for the outcome that occurred, because the alternative would have been so much worse
@Skapoor Here is a recent accident to help answer your question about how the Sling fares in one.
Thanks glad to see the sling can take a hit appreciate the tag

Lord that's a good price.
Doubt it'll be there in a year when im ready to buy

Its not the handling it part. Its the cost of it for a 16 year old is insane and unwise. If your rich or your rent's are rich and buying it then go for it. Its just not wise.
I might just buy a used sling then, dealer near me has one w 2k miles on it , its a custom painted sl for 18K

I'm a be honest with you, as cool as it would be to have a Slingshot as your first car it is no where near wise. Get an old beat up car you can destroy 1st & then look to upgrade.
Is the sling that hard to handle that a year of behind the wheel experience on another manual car wont be enough?

I just took a gallon wine jug in full of pennies in for my down payment....
That should send your credit score through the roof, money is money.

Im 15, gonna be 16 in a couple of weeks
So your a pup! Don't even have license then?? Need to be 16 with a year time before you can even take passengers ( law here anyway) If that's the case no way in hell dealer lets anyone take a ride. Have to show a license in order to take test ride. Would think a car would be more practical for ya than an expensive toy?. ..
But you would look cool & get a quick Prom date
It would be, but not everyone can say they owned a sling this early

Dealers full of shit! They get allotted a DEMO. I guarantee there trying to pull a fast one and trying to sell there Demo for full price. Guarantee if you called Polaris they would tell you all dealers have a Demo. I can see a kid walking in or what we called tire kicker back in the day wanting to take out demo just to get a free ride. But a person who's really interested they can't turn them away. You can feel a person out...How old are ya anyway???
Im 15, gonna be 16 in a couple of weeks

Throwing a fit in the showroom is not a wise move!!! Let your dad do the talking and let the dealer think he is doing the buying. A dealership here in town let my buddy and I test drive a couple of bikes when we were 17. Long story made short the cops were waiting for us at the dealer when we got back lol. Seems the guy that chased us down the street with a rake after we were racing and doing wheelies called the cops oops.
I was being sarcastic, but ill just show him the color of my money that should say it all

My dealer told me they base it on the person and if they thought they could afford one and if they might actually buy it.
I guess a 52 year old with his wife riding up on a Harley qualified.
Taking my parents out to a show room and hopefully a test ride this week, just going to throw a fit if they refuse to give me a test drive

IIRC, the Polaris marketing survey I took in 2015 implied they might eventually offer multiple engines to fit different price/oerformance points, so even if theyd evelop their own motor, Polaris may still offer the GM motor, hopefully, maybe....
You think theres going to be a new 2018 slingshot? I mean ive heard polaris is down in sales
