Nice looking trailer. What is the width between fenders? I am about 4 inches wider than stock so I have to be very careful with that. From the pictures it looks pretty tight for a stock width Sling.

As Van stated, there is 83.5" between fenders, BUT, you can pick up another 2" by very easily removing the fenders, takes just a minute with large knobs to turn. Call Van for custom specifics, they're always devising new ways to pick up more width.

Just received the new version (Slingsting) of a custom SS trailer from slingthingtrailers.com
Made in Florida, I have been waiting for a design like this for some time. As soon as I saw it, I knew it would be a winner. Attached photos will give you an idea. Has custom cleats to ratchet each wheel down, as well as recessed D rings for additional ties or other applications as needed. I also opted for the led interior lighting, spare tire, front rock guard and tool chest. Somewhat unique is the custom ramp that folds up to become the back of the trailer. Also comes with brakes for which I will have to buy a control in my SUV to activate them. I will have it in NY at the SS meetup there Sept. 14-18.

Actually if you read their warranty It covers this specifically, it states defective parts will be repaired or replaced at their discretion after you contact them, receive authorization, and return the item for evaluation. It then goes on to reiterate "no cash refunds" ....

    .

Just because something is written doesn't mean it has legal standing. I would get my money back one way or another, just my opinion.

Yeah.... unfortunately no ... Corbin has a written no returns/refunds policy clearly listed on their site that trumps the dispute process .. they class it as a custom item ..

You may get some traction if you purchased through a vendor to get a "fix" but as far as a return the vendor would have to take the loss .....

    .

If I bought DIRECTLY from Corbin (I bought their seats directly), I would definitely put this in dispute. A no return policy would not apply to defective products. Only by being proactive, speaking up, and taking action will anything get resolved!

For all those not satisfied with the Corbins: If you used a credit card, place it in dispute. They will have to take it back and you should get credit. I have done this a few times with AX, and I always got credit. I even got credit for a 14k enclosed trailer for the SS that didn't work out.

I seriously don't want to hijack this thread with tangantal remarks. But for anyone reading this looking for an alternative to Corbin Bags, I have ordered from slingmods.com the Alpha Luggage Rack system that mount to the back of the rollbars, combined with the PRP soft luggage bags that fit the racks perfectly. They are huge, and hold a lot more than the Corbin Bags. In addition, I am going with the Welter Dual Exhaust that exits the rear of the SS that will tidy up the appearance of the rear end. Once again, sorry for the digression.

Call me an old timer, but really, don't you think this "SS accessory" item is stretching the limits of what SS people actually need or want? I know, to each his own and all that stuff, but I would be VERY curious how many of these ridiculous items are actually sold. And I'm pretty sure I don't want any wearer of this mask to lead me on a group ride! :>)

I am an original poster (from the other side) that had major issues with the enclosed trailer (I ended up returning it). For the record, I have no RECENT experience, I certainly hope they got their act together. That being said, and from experience, I would be shy at this juncture to buy ANY trailer that used a compressor that raises/lowers the trailer bed. There are just too many parts that can potentially fail. And good luck if you get stuck on the road with a bed that won't go up or down. I shudder the thought.
I recently purchased, but as of yet not in possession, an open trailer made by slingthing (slingthingtrailers.com). They make an enclosed model also. I will have it first week in Sept., and will be happy to demo it at the SS rally in the Adirondacks.

I never buy extended warranties and never needed them but was considering buying one. Talked to my dealer and he offered it for $1,000 but he said he never buys them either. They just cover things that never break. Now I am sure there are some here that wish they had one for the one off problems. But when you consider all the SS's out there, how many are breaking after the 2 year warranty runs out? I have 26k on the clock and everything that needed work has been covered under warranty to date. The only thing I had done that I may have needed an extended warranty on was the brake switches.

The SS has not been out for 2 years yet. For those forward-thinking few, that will begin in a few months.

I currently run HID's in one of my slingshots. the issue I have is when you turn the key it fires the ballast and when you press the ignition it refires the ballast which sometimes causes one headlight to go out. Do the LED's have this same issue?

Man, for the life of me I couldn't figure out why one was going out, as you stated. I thought I had a bad ballast. I put HID's on the inboard and LED's on the outboard. Thought I would have the best of both worlds. It only happens once in a while, maybe I'll live with it. Is there a permanent fix for this issue???

I am always amused at 2 very popular questions I get asked. How fast will it go, and what is the gas mileage?? WHO really cares? It's a fun TOY! I probably will never go over 80 (or over 40 on a wet road), and I wouldn't care if it got 15 or 50 mpg. I would still enjoy our somewhat limited riding season here in MA.
I only hope it doesn't rain on my way to the Adirondacks in Sept., Hate to see my toy get all wet! :>)

To be clear, let's face it, nobody knows what an autocycle is. The SS is a 3-wheeled car, period. It has seats you sit in side by side, a seat belt, and a 5-speed auto shift. UNLIKE the can am spyder which is a 3-wheeled motorcycle BECAUSE it has a saddle, passenger sits behind, and shifts like a motorcycle. Honestly, state governments did Polaris a favor by allowing them to be registered as motorcycles simply to get them to market quickly and not having a special classification for it. The trend towards the term autocycle is just beginning, and my opinion is that in the future only a car license will be needed with no helmet requirement. However, until all the states catch up, if your state registers it as a motorcycle, and said state has a helmet requirement, then one must be worn, although enforcement might be lacking. If you go into detail with every question from the uninitiated public, you'll get nodules on your vocal cords. KISS, it's a 3-wheeled car, and it's amphibious!! :>)

Just curious, do the seats allow one to get the seat back farther, and if so how much? I'm tall, and can't get comfortable with the seat in too much of an uprright position.

    Thanks

PS I have the Corbins now, love the look, just looking to get more comfortable.
