    Hi guys,

I was curious as to people's opinions on a Carbon Fiber dipped Valve cover compared to Powder Coat. I hear the Powder Coat adds a sort of "armor" to the cover.

The real question is more of if the Carbon Fiber dipped covers would peel after a period of time? I imagine the cleaning would probably be more on the regular compared to powder coat.

    Thanks for sharing your opinion.

Should I make the 3 1/2hr driver from DFW to Houston???? :D

When is the High speed rail between Houston and DFW supposed to be ready? They need a storage compartment to store the SS on the bullet train. IMO.

Would love to make it. Stay safe out there this weekend fellow Texans. Good win today @DKF Texas

I've scoured the US for SS's and felt like I've seen them all for sale. I too seen this one, the only reason I didn't buy was because of location and the cost of having it shipped to Texas. I will say that the pricing is right on point to be honest. I agree with @AllIn5450 with presenting a cashiers check for 19k. They will accept that indeed.

I presented a 20K cashiers check on mine and said that was all I was willing to do, I drove it home the next morning and have sat in the garage every morning while I drink my coffee, as well as coming home to rub her down in the evenings. Getting ready for 70° weather Tuesday-Thursday... :D:thumbup:

"As for the power gained with the Alpha header or the 1320 header, I believe that is really going to depend on what other mods have been done to your Slingshot. We will be running a test of the Alpha vs. the 1320 with our supercharger kit this Saturday to see if there is any difference and will post up that info when we get done. It is not going to be completely relavant to a naturally aspirated setup, but will show if there is any difference at the flows of the supercharger kit.

    Hope that helps,"

Wow, thank you for your help Dave, i currently only have the Alpha CAI installed. Was looking at the DDM short shifter vs the Alpha short shifter, people seemed to love the DDM short throw, so that's what I am going to go with, along with the Headers and exhaust.

I was curious if anyone knew what the HP gain would be with the Alpha Headers. Added the Alpha header/Variable Exhaust combo in the shopping cart on Slingmods.com, I noticed that they stated the 1320 Headers "while gaining a manufacturer claimed 9HP over stock." but did not have that type of information included on the Alpha Headers. Not sure if Alpha just didn't supply the info???

I was just curious is someone from Slingmods, Alpha Powersports, or anyone that would know, could chime in with the HP gain from the Alpha headers.

Thank you SS community. Next up is to figure out who to send the ECM to for an update...

My thoughts also. I'm not about top speed, and traction is the issue now at lower speeds as it is. I had an aggressive Italian chase me thru the Dragon on a Yamaha R1 over Labor Day weekend. His tires were without tread on the sides, in a "V" shape, but had plenty in the middle of the tire. When I was pushing it, he couldn't stay up with me. Up at the overlook, we both stopped and talked, he said he was on the wrong machine and needed one of the Slingshots....

That said, It was sunny and dry that day. I got into the anti-lock brakes 3 times, and the rear drifted even more. The way I drive this thing, 300 HP is likely more than I'd want on any twisty. (that is, until I have gotten used to it! )

If you don't mind me asking, what do you have under the hood currently?

Never a full on pressure washer and only a sprinkler hose setting to know off the dirt below .... I've got a skid plate so that helps some when it's wet out .... otherwise just a cloth and some chemical guys motorcycle engine cleaner Chemical Guys MTO10816 - Moto Line, Gearhead Motorcycle Cleaner & Degreaser for Drivechains and Engine Parts (4 oz) and even that is rare to use so just wet cloth to get underside of hood if I'm going to show

Thanks for posting the link, would you also recommend just using a spray bottle of water to spray on the degreaser to clean off the chemicals? Would you also use this on the hoses to clean them off? I'm like V-Shot in a sense... :) I prefer to keep the engine clean and looking great everytime I pop the hood to just stare at it.
