My automatic controller is flawless. It has a gasket and the board is lacquer coated. I have had mine sitting in water in Maggie Valley.

Controller is not the issue, you and I have spoke about this. The push button is the issue and obviously you did not call the factory to verify my claim or you would not be defending this issue. To dangerous and the factory will not stand behind this if used in direct sunlight and direct rain. I too had no issues the first year but the 2nd year about flipping killed me on the highway going 70mph and it shifted to 1st without warning. I’m serious my friend, I don’t want to be reading that my friend is in the hospital because of a similar issue I had. I have to much love for my Slingshot family.

If its an automatic and has the push button gear select, I would put my money on that might be the failure. I think there has been a few issues with this system especially if any water was involved.

Absolutely, I have warned people that heat and water will cause serious problems with the push button automatic and cause a shift from 5th to 1st without warning. The factory even says not to use the push button and heat will damage the controller as well. I about totaled mine in Atlanta. I don’t care what anyone says , I drove mine for 2 years straight and the 1st year was flawless, 2nd year almost cost me my life. I’m tired of preaching this and call the factory and you will see. Way to dangerous with the push button and mount your controller inside the glovebox. Geez people, call the f****** factory before people get killed . Very upsetting to me to see this.

I’m just amazed on the price . Our first one we used a junkyard transmission, had it rebuilt, modified the driveshaft , install the PCS controller . Test and tune and drive at 5K and that was just barely making anything. That was 2and half years ago though so I guess when sling street did the very first one and then me and alpha started doing them .now everyone is installing them but that’s cool . I’m just amazed that they are using a brand new transmission and still selling for that price .

So your saying I need to move my push buttons under the lip of my dash. :D It has a 20' cable to play with. I guess I could find a shaded dry spot for it.

Ill look around for a spot this weekend when I'm in the shop.... Ill post pics of where I mount it.

Yes please , the last thing I want to see is any of my Slingshot family members experience what I did . Thanks for listening to my rant on this issue .

Drive 70mph and downshift from 5th to 1st to give you a example of what will happen . Now have this happen when your not expecting it .
I said my peace but this is very irresponsible of anyone who is installing this but also remember I starting installing automatics in slingshots Long before people started coming out of the woodwork so it allows me to have a lot more testing time and I just looked it up . I had a automatic since October of 2015 so I do know what I’m talking about . Only reason I’m still running my mouth about this is because it’s a huge safety issue . I don’t care . Just a concerned Slingshot family member and a proud forum member unless rabtech shoots me

I tested my automatic for 2 years so it took some time but I’m trying to stress how dangerous this is . PCS will verify this , call them please if you don’t agree with me . I included a phone number on this post .

I just spoke to tech support and engineering and they absolutely positively said they will not support or warranty any pushbutton application that is exposed to moisture. I’m not trying to be negative here , I just know that this is a very dangerous application for a slingshot and it’s a matter of time before this button will fail and cause a major accident .
It’s only for in cab use only and ambient temp cannot exceed 105 .

I’m just going off of what the manufacturer told me , mine worked flawlessly for the first year but the second year . Awful, I’ll never use push button again . To dangerous.

We have had our auto for over 2 years now and tried a couple of different configurations such as the push button interface and one day out of nowhere the push button failed and shifted to 1st while driving about 70 on the highway and we about wrecked .
We contacted pcs and informed them of our issue and they asked us what the ambient temperature was . It was over a 100 that day with direct sunlight, they said that’s why .
We removed it and went with the plain old shift the automatic transmission into gear and guess what . No more issues .
Sometimes keeping it simple is the way to go but we really liked the push button but no willing to take that risk again , thank got we had seatbelts on or we would have been thrown out of the Slingshot because shifting from 5th to 1st without warning was not fun .

I’m still wondering about how many thirsty Slingshot buddies are going to show up for drinks that are on me

So at the end of the day , the Slingshot brings all of us a smile with every mile and I’m trying to figure out how many cold ones I have to buy for my Slingshot extended family and friends .

Oh my my fellow Slingshot riders , now I agree that we all deserve the right to make our slingshots our own and I agree that a Slingshot that polaris designed is a three wheeled vehicle with a 2.4L GM powerplant and a GM 5 speed manual transmission. Now with that being said , it is true that I’m installing Honda 2.4L engines in the slingshots to create more horsepower and push the limits of what the slingshot can handle with three wheels because that’s my thing . Some people want to seek more horsepower with turbos , SC , NOS and other bolt on goodies . That’s all cool in my book !
Now let’s talk about drag racing or even street racing , I will say that the Slingshot that has a V8 and throw in a quad kit and now we have something that should hand any 3 wheeled Slingshot its lunch and send us home with disappointment except for the few of us that can’t wait to try the new potential king of the mountain to put our creations limits to the test .
Please don’t take my comment offensive for anyone who throws hard earned money at what brings us joy because I have thrown more than I ever planned at mine , I just like to go fast on tracks and on the street and in the twists and I really enjoy the disappointment on the automobiles that I have raced and beat even though most have got me out of the hole until I caught them when I hit 3rd and passed them .
at the end of the day I still like to attend all the events and look at what everyone of us has modified and anyone who wants to have fun burning rubber with me and let’s see what our machines can do . Let’s plan a day . Or atleast video what our machines can do on the track and share with everyone else .
For the record , I can’t wait to see what my 10,000 rpm Honda 2.4L can do with a Goliath v8 . In a good sportsmanship kinda way of course ! If I loose , the drinks are on me ! If I win , I’ll still buy a round of drinks !

Thanks, just wish I didn’t have to build the engine twice. My redline is at 9200 rpm . Honda engine is insane on power .

Yes your correct , 4th run at 27 psi we hit 632 HP and then the harmonic balancer bolt backed out and my crank timing gear backed away from crank and jumped Time and my valves kissed the pistons and blew the motor . Still on pump gas 93 octane . Didn’t make it to e85 yet .
Stay tuned for round 2 with plenty of loctite .

Did I miss the results somewhere?

Unofficial and I hesitate to say until I actually have it on the screen and printed in black and white . I will say that 1st pull after installing engine was 340HP , fixed waste gate problem. 2nd pull was 440 , fixed boost leak problem, change waste gate spring and fix straps tighter . Test run and look for leaks . 4th pull was let’s see what she can do and gave her full boost and smoked the tire on dyno and the looked at the graph and smiled and then the harmonic balancer bolt backed out ,?crank gear backed out , timing chain came off , valves hit the pistons and we blew the engine up .
Round 2 , rebuild engine, updates timing components, new everything again and generous use of loctite, more new high performance components and now we are driving and testing and reinspecting everything.
Testing and testing and kinda numb and feeling dumb but I guess progress is made and learning from mistakes.
