Sorry to hear, believe me I know the time and effort that you put into it because I was there twice. First time I decided not to put an amp in just to take it all apart again to add one afterwards. So far the screen is still working I took it out the other day for the first time since I put it away for the winter. Being that it was sunny and around 56 degrees was enough of a reason for a preseason drive. I believe that someone needs to come up with a fully reliable head unit, after all we are in the age of technology and waterproofing for most things have been accomplished and secondly the glare issue is another issue that being set at the right angle and screen coating would seem like another easy task from the minds of MIT scholars which given the chance I believe they could build one that Would withstand the depths of the Marianas trench.

If you want the camera to work going forward just ground the purple wire I believe. I’ve heard people mention that in some states it’s illegal, but what isn’t nowadays. It’s been awhile since I put mine in so don’t hold me to it.try it with a mock setup then press the camera mode button and put it in 1st gear if the camera stays on your all set. All wires should be labeled from the boss side and the harness should have come with instructions let me get back to you on the constant red

I would by the metra harness for whatever year sling you have, I think it covers 2015-2018 or 2019 because your gonna use stock speakers. The scosche backup camera wiring harness is plug and play you can watch the install on that from slingmods and the metra harness is color coded just match like colors from boss to metra harness and there will be some wires you don’t use just tape and ends to insulate them. Then plug metra harness in where the stock plugged in. It will take longer taking the parts off and putting them back on the sling then it will to hook up the boss.

Thinking about it now I’m a dummy and I managed to get it done. Many hours just Staring at the whole dash ripped apart wondering how many extra screws I was gonna end up with at the end and then, ok now what? Back to the drawing board. No really at first it may be alittle intimidating, but don’t let it scare you into not doing it if that’s what you want to do. Look at it this way if it comes apart it can be put back together. And the more you take it apart the better you get at putting it back together. Trust me on that one🤔😵‍💫🤬🥵🥱😴

Yes and no. It’s not like a normal car radio install but this site and the people on it are a big help with questions, don’t worry about asking to many questions. You will get plenty of questions back if you don’t give enough information for us to help. Like which wiring harness are you talking about, the radio harness that came with the boss or the Scosche back up camera harness or the Metra harness that wires the boss harness into the stock harness where you disconnect the stock radio? Decide first what you want to do like are you gonna add new speakers or an amp…. Once you have a plan then you need to make a list of what you will need right down to how are you gonna connect wires ie.. solder , crimp connectors, type of radio dash mount and so on. I found myself ordering from Amazon every other day because I didn’t plan and it was all new to me at the time also. So start there let me know if that helped any.

That’s another good option, just trying to poke at the screen with your finger when trying to concentrate on the idiots in front of you and not being the smoothest driving vehicle on the road ( CT roads don’t help any with a pothole every 50ft) I found myself sometimes hitting the wrong button.

Interesting, why can’t aftermarket products take these things into consideration when making the product. If your an engineer than you should be more than capable of producing a part to mate perfectly with the another. I seem to be one of the people that runs into these add ons a lot. I’m talking for anything be it a car a tv stand or anything else that says no modifications needed…. Interesting to hear what the final answer is as I was thinking of adding these myself.

So I don’t have to touch the screen searching for the volume they are pretty small and takes a second or two to scan in on sometimes I was hitting the wrong button like when hitting a bump in the road. Plus my eyesight is not as sharp as it once was can’t see things sharply a foot or two away. And I did see a eye doctor last year he said I just need cheater glasses, so back to the controller it easy to reach the e brake and the buttons and I can control the volume and go forward or backwards to the next song. More for the volume though. It was cheap $17

it’s been in between 80 and 95 for the last well if you can find my post as to the install since then 70 to 98 percent humidity. And I haven’t had an issue with any fogging or moisture problems. And when I tell you with my luck seems like 60 Percent of the time I have to return the product whether it be broken defective wrong product you get the point but knock on my head I haven’t had an issue so far with the unit. Maybe someone that was Competent that day built mine.

IIRC, some owners have reported humidity showing up inside the display. Not everyone, but it has been reported. I've tried several different round marine radios and have also experienced or read complaints about humidity affecting the display with those units, too

I believe you have to hook up into CarPlay or android auto for maps. I really haven’t had much seat time with it as to play with all the functions. So here are the pics: the 2nd pic is a Bluetooth controller that I put on the e- brake but you can put it on the steering wheel which I found to just be in the way. Hope the pictures help if not and you want me to take another pic let me know.

Yes I just put one in. Is this the one you are inquiring about? I started a thread a month or 2 ago and had some good feed back. I am happy with it for the price. There are many good brands out there like with all things people either liking it or not . There are many questions to ask like wiring mounting bracket speakers Amps… At first someone said to get an amp with it that was a question I asked so I wired for one just in case. At first I thought it had good features and sound. I think I gave it a 2 part review well at first when I turned it on it sounded great I took it out for a few short drives and my opinion changed not about the boss but about I sure was happy that I listened to whoever it was that said go with a amp. Sitting there in the garage or at a slow, not to long of a ride the sound wasn’t there as I said glad I wired for it I went with the kicker amp kma360.4 and also added kicker 6.5 hump speakers and that turned it into another sound altogether. I hit 1 heavy down pour and had no problems with it, not to say they all maintain the same level of quality control. So went another over board with the answer yes I like it. And other questions? Because I know by the time I was done with the install I had many, but being as it was a new product it was hard to find a lot of info on it. And only a few people answered to the thread and as I said they were all big help and I thank them again.

You have done more than your fair share of explaining on many things on this site. You explained well enough for me to get the point, but Doc&Ruby put me in the passenger seat I felt as if I was in the car when it happened. Lesson to be heard, know the vehicle’s limitations!

speaking of I got caught on my first ever downpour yesterday leaving work, I kind of enjoyed it to be perfectly honest. As far as the ostrich material goes is it Suede like to the touch or is it like a matte vinyl? And can anyone tell me what the pvl material stands for?
