Mitch.... ( MACAWS)
finally had a chance to look at the finished document. tell Colette it looks great ...
two suggestions:
- Update the first post of this thread and the one on the other "darkside" forum to link to the document and update all the information. most people don't scroll down thru the conversation when first deciding on an event
- Shorten the PDF file name as my mobile phone had issues trying to download the file. I had to download with a desktop.
- you may want to get the PDF to I think the blues page has a webpage for the slingshot event...
see you guys both soon....
assuming I get my sling back from the shop. been there for 3 weeks! needle bearings, then they damaged axle repairing so new axle, and now waiting for one other part needed to replace axle... sigh. Anyone coming down from Washington DC area? I will be driving to the event Friday leaving around noon from downtown DC.

Or just cancel and order someone elses coilovers. But good things come to those who wait.
As you have seen others removed other coilovers to upgrade to this one
-
No problem buddy. Glad I could help. Can't wait to get there
-
One more trick for you. The boot is not all the way pulled back from the photo. Give it some effort and it will flop/pop over the fold in the handle groove and look much cleaner
Huh?

Well after calling around that are the least evil of all the next 3 closest dealers
-
Ok talked to the dealership here is what they found:
they will need to crack the gear case and replace the Pinon Seal (slow leak) and they had to order the Pinon Seal and Gear Case Sealant (Polaris brand).
They found that my front end U Joint and Upper Ball Joints were loose so they are replacing (too much play).
Finally they said the brake caliper seals were leaking and they found moisture and dirt in the caliper pistons so will be replacing the seals.
-
well mine is going to be in the shop for another week (instead of anticipated this Sat pick up). They played the we cant let it out of the shop safety card....
they found the drive angle case leaking so they are going to crack it open for inspection and if ok fix seal and reassemble. so much for my mobile 1 gear oil they just put in it.... sigh But I hear that the Polaris transmission oil is full synth also but just prefer Mobil 1.
also they are having issues getting the bearings out of the rear for replacement. Polaris techs said to heat it and then pound them out (EEEK).
Finally having them perform the fix for hood bumpers to 2016 bumpers and also the fix for the soft brake pedal issue. But they are saying that they are concerned with water build up on the back side of the calipers or brake pads? not sure what they are talking about...
so no sling for one of the nicest holiday weekends in a while

Noel more evil temptations. Lol
-
500 mile service was discounted because I changed my own oil.
So they were good to deal with. Just lately is like they lost their friking mind
-
So far they have done ok on my repairs. Installed my aftermarket header and muffler ok.
But have to see if same rear needle barrings went bad they just installed before SSITS.
Changed out transmission and drive angle fluid to mobile 1 and installed upgraded magnet drain bolts
-
So i drop off my slingshot. Guess what they have in their service entrance area
-
Hope it's actually done right. Or you may have to drive to next dealer.
-
I feel your pain Angela ... so i have found that I basically have the lesser of the 3 dealerships that ALL suck... they are going to get me done in 1 week. drop off this Sat and pick up next Sat. the tech wont work on it until weekdays (they dont have a slingshot tech on Saturdays is the issue).
I have a great Can AM Spyder dealership that is about same 1.5 hours away. they even toss me a key to demo spyder to go ride around while they work on my Spyder.
Vehicle costs the same Spyder about the same costs as Slingshot. so why can the Polaris dealers be the same customer service?
-
Hotel reserved. See everyone at the Friday night movies
-
so today called the two closest dealers. the closest one A&A Cycles in Latrobe, PA... does NO serious jobs on Saturday. only oil changes and inspections. quick in and out jobs only.
then called the next XTREME MOTORCYCLE in Brilliant, OH. same story.
they both wanted to do an inspection first to hear the clicking noise, tear apart and see the bad bearings then order them. meaning have to leave the sling there over a week. they would not do diagnosis on a wait basis. not on Sat or any other day.
so drop off, the next day they would diagnose and send into Polaris for warranty request, wait, order parts, install parts = total time (at least a week to 2 weeks) they have sling.

I dont know if the slamming on brakes is a good thing.... I also heard (but I have yet to ask Henry) that Alpha said that they are seeing air getting in from the area near the brake master cylinder mount. so if you do not have the brake support slamming the brake would cause more stress on this mounting point leading to more possibility of air getting into the brake system.
dont know if this is true.
