Question please, does the steering wheel have to be removed for the paddle shifters install ??

Yes, it does have to come off. There is a hole at the bottom of the wheel. Place a screwdriver in the hole until it makes contact with the surface. The push a little harder to depress the lock. The bottom of the horn button can then be pulled out. Top will still be latched. At the top push in, up , then out. The horn will come off. There is a wire attached. The wires go to a center connector. Disconnect there. Then you can remove the wheel. The only reason to remove the wheel is to replace the back cover of the steering wheel to accommodate the paddles.

yes I new my paddles were upside down. Decided I didn’t like it that way so I put them back the way they should.

The only other thing I did was paint the paddles semi gloss black before install.

    Ok,

I went back to my Sling and what I did is use a medium sized cross tip screwdriver. I pushed it through the hole until it bottomed out. Then I pushed a little harder and it released a tap to pop the horn button off.

There is a screw inside that hole that must be removed.

I went back out and looked in the hole with an bright light and did not see a screw. I did see a flat piece of metal sticking up. Can you be a little more specific? I may not be seeing something.

@Bgmactn. i too am 6'6" and get a lot of wind with the stock windshield. i have a track record of buying a windshields that are too tall. i like to see over the windshield not through it. do you find that you look through the +9.

Now next question, where do we buy a shoe horn to assist getting in and out.

sorry for the delay. My vision I can look through or above. I am near the top, but if you want to look above all the time then the +7 you might like.

No shoe horn required, I just slide right. In..

While this method is certainly quicker, and may be fine for a smaller F4, my +9 wiggles a fair amount at slightly greater than highway speeds with various cross breezes. I'd be reluctant to use tape and plastic body clips.

I thought of that too, but the backing plate provided does not provide any downward “pushing” support for the bracket. Testing above 80 I have no issues, but did have a plan to make the bottom wider and longer if needed. The bottom plate is removable with 2 screws.

There is a screen that you can adjust to go from night to daytime.. also check your buttons at the bottom if they light up or not. If you hit one on the buttons it seems to wake it up

Actually, it is a safety issue. In no way is it like riding a motorcycle and have to wear one.

The difference is you are in a a car type seat, strapped in with a seatbelt. With arhat alone the commonality of motorcycles is gone. You won’t be thrown out and go head first into something.

There is another factor. Weight if the helmet causing injury to the spine during an accident. It could actually snap your neck. That is why race car drivers are now mandated to wear a HANNs device when strapped in.

So just saying wear a helmet and get over it may not be a good thing to say not knowing all the facts.

Do I wear one? Yes I do, but knowing what I do about the above I researched and got a helmet that was about 2lbs and DOT legal. It does have pull down screen and I can add my Sena headset. I will especially wear one on the interstate as risk of debris hitting my face is much higher then wrecking.

What makes you say that? I read through the law and dont see it being required for autocycles. At the end of the safety section it says auto cycles excluded. I keep a copy of it in my glove box.

Having just that will not help you much on the road without the other supporting info in 55-9-302, and 55-9-301, and 55-1-103. You need to show traceability (path) to prove the citation is for what you claim it is for.

You need to leave no doubt that you know hat your talking about to the officer. In an educational way of course. I’ll do some more studying myself as just the end of last year it may have changed. I need to go to an official TN gov site and read it.

So the windshield is higher then the top?

ok, I went to the shop and did a little measuring on the left puller of the sling shade. From the bottom front tip to the top of the opening for the windshield I measured 26”.

From where the bottom front tip fits into the mirror to the top of the windshield I measured 25.5”. Eye balling the rake of the windshield it looks like it will sit in front of the sling shade a little. That is good as it would allow the wind to flow over this slingshade.

Again I would call Don Frank to verify. For me I’m not worried about it. :). I like running topless. :)

Depending on what is available I have used Kleene Furniture polish or Lucas Slick Mist. This is coming from my airplane days. I used this stuff all the time and it really helped going through rain storms and prevents fogging. Beads up and roles off. Wipers will scratch the acrylic windshields with the grime collected while driving.

Do you have pictures of that with your slingshade?

No, but Don Frank from F4 Customs said it will fit. Based on how I sit in it, I believe him. :) I can do a measurement later and let you know. I think he said there is about an 1"-2" gap from the top of the windshield to the slingshade.

I am 6’ 6” and have the F4 Customs +9. Love it. It took all the buffeting away and not too tall for me. Hear are some pics. You have to have the center post, but I mounted mine using 3m extra strong trim tape instead of pulling radios and things to add the inner attach plate.

rain?? When we picked ours up, my wife had to drive through a thunderstorm in rush hour traffic in Charlotte NC. That lasted about an hour. Then she continue to drive 550 miles that day and still got out with a smile...

I just bought a new trailer to use for my slingshot. Went with an open trailer so I could use it for other things as well. Mine is a 14ft single axle steal since aluminum and steal of that size trailer is not that much difference in weight. You have to beef up aluminum trailers a little to carry same weight. The cost was about $1700 new. Weight distribution is great. Easy to maneuver by hand. It has a 5ft ramp, but I use 3 motorcycle ramps to extend to 9ft for easy install. I’ll be ordering a heavy cover for the sling to keep rain and dirt off when traveling.
