I sanded the left and right outside of the mount kit just enough to make it slide easier, not too much. Put the head unit in from the rear of the mount kit first and secure with the flathead screws. Then slide the unit in the dash. I reached in from the engine bay to keep the wires out of the way while sliding it in.
Thank you. So you sanded the mount kid not anything on the sling, correct? Huge help Joe!
@Mmahoney79 I installed a pioneer avic 5200nex with that kit. It is very tight, it is a pressure fit. I had to do some very light sanding on the sides or you will have issues removing it later without taking apart tthe dash. One more thing is to ensure all the wiring is kept to the back or sides and none is trapped underneath the unit when you install it or the mount kit will not fit flush. Don't pry on the flanges of the mounting kit, they will break.
thank you. What parts did you sand? I am going to put the 4200nex and during my dry fit, didn't look like it was going to work. wasnt sure if I needed to put the head unit in first and then the bracket, cause it didn't look like it was going to do it together for a drop in from the front. Also, if I did remove the dash, I think I run into the same problem since it won't just slide in the hole....(first time I'm having this problem)...l
Hi! Has anyone installed a pioneer head unit using slingmods dash kit?
Seems very tight even though I'm being Gould there is no cutting required.

Thank you. To be fair didn't take it out for a spin. I'm in jersey and there is snow....rumor has it it doesn't do too well in the snow....
No error codes on dash. Just started it up to check sound and noticed a bit of a delay.
Really? So you're pretty sure it wasn't anything I did during install? All computer related? Does everyone experience this?
Hi. I just installed my alpha intake. Seems like there is a rev delay. Is this computer related? I press the gas and then it revs. Make any sense?

Behind the cubbyhole in dash. It says isn't geound and something else but they aren't connected to anything.
I love the head unit, but I don't use the Car Play. I don't care for it.
the rock. I like your. Seat combo. Do you have other pictures? Which ones and where did you get them?
Hi. I don't really have an issue with moving the throttle body. Just unsure of how I wanted to proceed and was looking to save a few bucks.

How do you like the pioneer 8200? Do you like CarPlay? Is it any good?
I do not think I would give that kind of money for what I was looking at. I think I would try and put something together before I paid $199 for that. Just my 2 cent
I always appreciate any feedback. I just didn't want to move the throttle body for the alpha intake.
$199
I ordered it and received it today. But might be having buyers remorse.....
Looked at one today, I personally do not like the looks of the Polaris CAI and it still has that ugly as? rubber adapter to the throttle body. By the way how much money are they charging for the Polaris CAI?
$199
Hi! Has anyone seen or installed the oem Polaris SLR intake? I ordered it and was told by the gentleman at cycle springs that they are basically all the same. However it looks like that restrictive Bend is still there by the throttle body.
Any thoughts or if you have installed or know someone who has, input would be appreciated.
$10.00 per set still. Need 2 in black if you have. Will PayPal payment if available..
Getting a set for @V-SHOT .
I do. Thank you. PayPal to mike.mahoney@me.com
@av8ingtom, @V-SHOT, these are the valve stem caps I have, I think we were discussing a few weeks ago?
I still have them if interested.
I would say for sure you would need A large amp to power all those speakers. The issue with this many speakers is you start dropping impedance. And when you do you start heating up the amplifier. You will for sure need someone to help you with this if you want the best sound and keep it safe for the amp. The head unit may have some power on its outputs but if those speakers are the ones I think they are then you will be very disappointed without some serious power pushing them.
Just find a good stereo shop that will help you locally and I bet they will do all the calculations for you and get you an amp that will work.
I had three amps running 4 sets of speakers. I just retired all those and went to a JL 700/5 5 channel amp. It is 2 ohm stable and will allow mw to bridge some of the channels for more power and still stay in the safe range.
Very helpful! Especially since the amp seems to shut down after a while in the heat. Granted, I used the install kit from sling mods and put the amp in that oven behind my base model cubby hole.
Have you ever ran into issues with heat behind your head unit?
Display MoreHi Rabtech!
Quick question for you, and anyone out there. I have the front kick panel speakers, the side panel speakers and headset pods. I am planning on putting a head unit in. Will I also require an amp to power all these speakers?
I noticed you have a head unit, will you also be requiring an amp?
I currently have the amp sold by cycle springs which is a bluetooth amp with inputs. My real question is will I need more than what I have now? Meaning will I require another amp or in normal scenarios would my head unit and Amp be enough to power the system.

And a head unit.
Any thoughts, suggestions etc would be helpful!
Additionally my front speakers are the component ones and the side and rears are obviously coaxial. Would anyone recommend running the front kick panels off the head unit and the other four (if I can) off the Phoenix gold amp?
I installed the front two and amp myself but have a strange feeling I am going to have to go to an installer for the head unit. And I also fear I will be going to spend more out of fear.....
I have a JL 700/5 coming to take the place of the 3 amps. I bought it on ebay used for $325.00. Now I will have only one amp to power and adjust. So it will mount under the driver's seat and when the seat is forward I will have access to the crossover adjustments.
I couldn't say no to price. And the power should be more than I will be able to use.
