Finally had a nice enough day to go for a spin. I put the GoPro on the mount and tightened it as best as I could, but the camera is still a bit loose and flops back and forth a bit. I started the ride with the camera aimed straight ahead, but when I stopped at a light and checked it, the camera had tilted back against the mount. I checked the video and the camera is still aimed fine - at first you can see my hand on the shifter, but after it moved the lowest thing you can see is the radio. That's actually OK - I want to see my surroundings, not what's going on in the cockpit. Still, I might try a really thin washer to hold it in place a bit better.

I also need to get a few spares for the GoPro mounting hardware. I dropped the silver nut a few times, managed to retrieve it, but every time I thought "oh this is the time where it falls behind the seat or bounces off someplace never to be seen again."

Anything on your gauges like fuel bars left for example would be visible on those gauges still. It's anything that's on the ride command unit itself MPG, coolant/engine temps, etc... that you'd lose. It's there, but no way to display it on these aftermarket head units. I saw a head unit that was on hinges so you could keep both so to speak, but not my thing.

Great, thanks for the info. Maybe it's time to get creative with a Raspberry Pi.

You lose it.... that's why I wanted to add a system off the ride command and while it works it's not the same as a real radio with the proper channels as RC setup for left/right pretty much. Someone who can come out with a good higher end unit with tablet/big screen and integrates into ride command is going to make some $$$

The info screen I suppose I could live without, but what about the fuel/temp info on the instrument panel? That I definitely would want to keep.

My 2019 has Ride Command with navigation and Bluetooth audio. If you replace the stock head unit with a Boss (I was looking at one on Slingmods yesterday) what happens to the info screen? Tells you last oil change, etc. Is there an app to install on the Carplay? Does it disable the HUD behind the steering wheel? I usually leave mine set to how many miles I have left before I have to refuel.

We did find out that the 2017+ models had a narrower hoop. This was rectified by removing the spacers that come with the kit and using shorter hardware. You do not need to select a year when purchasing as we include the proper hardware for both the 2015-2016 and the 2017+ in the package. If you have any other questions feel free to reach out here or you can always email me directly at kyle@zzperformance.com

I figured with all the positive reviews (and your visibility in the forum) it was safe to take the chance. I ordered one on the 11th and received it today. A GoPro Hero 9 Black is on the way as well (shipped but the tracking number is not yet in the system so no idea when I will see it.) Looks like I know what I am doing this weekend! Thanks for the response and the quick turnaround!

Thanks guys. I did consider messaging Kyle directly, but I don't know the protocol about doing that. I figured if I tagged the product thread he might see it. I did not see a message about how it was handled, just that a change was made to accomodate newer models. I don't mind paying for quality, I just want to make sure I get it right.

This is an old thread, but I didn't know if it was worth starting a whole new thread on the same topic. I was looking for a mount for a GoPro and came across this:

There was one disgruntled customer who said it did not fit on his 2017. I have a 2019 SLR (no shade.) If I were to order the mount, will it come with the correct hardware to fit both sizes? Or do I have to specify someplace what I have? Thanks.

I have never used the emergency brake to do that, I just learned how to drive a straight stick, I have been doing it for 57 years now.;)

I never really learned to drive a stick. When I was 16 my father started to teach me to drive in his Dodge. I ground the gears once shifting from first to second, he said "Okay, lesson's over. We'll use your mother's car." She had a wagon with an automatic. It wasn't until I was 18 that I got a job working at a radio installation place, and the other techs had to keep bringing in the stick vehicles because I couldn't drive them. So I taught myself to drive stick on a friend's beater. Never was really that good at it, and every vehicle I ever owned was an automatic, but 20 years later I found that I was able to ride a motorcycle without incident. Now I am 52 and driving a Slingshot. Okay so I am rusty but I manage. Hills are still a problem. I never learned the "correct" way to do it, just cheated using the e-brake.

If this info is already here someplace, can someone steer me towards it? I tried searching but search insisted there were no threads called Hill Assist, even though I had just read one.

The 2021 has an optional Hill Start Assist. Was wondering if such a thing can be done for a 2019 SLR. I tried searching the GoogleWebz but only came up with a few hits from Slingshot dealers who can do it to a 2020 (and a link back to this forum about the 2021 model.)

First really nice weather in a while last night. Still snow on the ground in spots but 58 degrees, so I went for a spin to the grocery store. First ride of the year, and it was to Market Basket. Somebody stop me...

Today it's pouring, and there's a chance for snow later tonight. Everyone hates me now.
