I know you have made a lot of mods and I'm sure you are proud of your Sling, but that venue isn't the best for showing your ride. In a group of Slings we notice those improvements and appreciate them. It's just a different culture on the Harley side. Like I said before, don't let it bother you.

There has been some speculation in the past about what a Slingshot's value would be if production ever were stopped. I talked to a couple Victory motorcycle owners over the weekend that they were told the value of their bikes was "auction" price. Would that be considered more or less than their value before production stopped. This was from a dealer's perspective. I have wondered about this because I don't trust Polaris' commitment. I am not planning to ever sell mine, and I know I will never recoup my investment in mods if I did. Just wondering.

I'm sure your heart was in the right place, but any ride promoted as "Harley" will never be fair to other brands. Don't let it bother you, but at the same time don't expect any special treatment. Hunter beat me by a minute to make the same point.

That is the system I was referring to, but that one brings the air from much lower. I was thinking about a shorter and more direct route. In my earlier projected installations I envisioned 2 separate small cone filters installed in the headlight holes. I have now changed my thinking to the 2 tubes routed into the filter enclosure. I think it would be about 2 feet of tubing with 1 90 degree bend. But i agree it is an exercise in design more than function. Ar least the air would be cooler than what is in the engine bay that feeds my CAI.

I have seen this, yes. But the fix I saw was much simpler. It was a hole (2"?) directly beside the muffler, cut into the black plastic. It wasn't visible behind the wheel and didn't have any covers or shields. I have always wondered if it vented heat out or sucked cool air in. Don't know about the aerodynamic properties and how they work.

There have been a few "ram air" applications that have shown up recently. I'm surprised nobody has funneled air to a box or enclosure on their cold air filter from the Canadian headlight location. It looks like a direct run back to the area behind the center headlights. This wouldn't work for those with the headlights, but for those that don't have the lights, a couple 2" tubes and some ingenuity could bring in cool air from the outside. Any thoughts or opinions?

I should have been more specific on the topic. I lurk here everyday, absorbing every bit of info I can. The Sling I saw vented heat beside the wheel to the outside. It may have sucked air in at speed, I don't know. It didn't have anything to do with bringing in cool air to the cabin. Sorry for the confusion, and I appreciate all the engineering our members have put into their rides.

Has anyone here drilled or somehow put a vent hole in the tub area beside the factory exhaust? Last year I met a couple in Limon, CO. that had a very new Sling that they were taking on an extended trip. They were experiencing the usual discomfort from the heat into the passenger foot area. They had been to a dealer who simply drilled a 2-3" hole with a holesaw. They were very happy with the difference. Is it really that easy a fix, and why haven't I saw this as a fix here.

It's not really a fair fight, but I have three of these collected from different shows. I let anybody sit in the sling, which gives me a really unfair advantage, and once the word gets out you can't stop the flood. Makes for a fun day. I'm sure there are lots of others on this forum that have shared the same experience.

The only thing bothering me is I can't grease my existing one and it is my understanding you should reinstall them in the same configuration. I am leaning toward flipping it, greasing it and taking my chances. I should have some warning (thunking) if it is going out. Then I would install the newer style.

I know this is an issue accessing the zerk, but I don't see how I can get to this one. Is mine a one-off or are they all this way?
A new u-joint is about $40. Should I start over?

Is my zerk facing backward? It faces the case, not the shaft. If it is backward and I have to turn the u-joint, will I be facing any problems. I remember a post that said they seat to a position and moving them didn't work.
