My appointment with Kyle the Boost Doctor and the ZZP house of go-fast sorcery is set for late March.

It's 35 degrees here and 29 in Michigan - that's no slingshot weather!

So I have plans to sacrifice a chicken this weekend to the Weather Gods for an early spring and mild March weather. And if sacrificing the (Tyson) chicken (by frying) this weekend doesn't work, I'll sacrifice another (by grilling)... and another (by chicken soup)... and another (by bar-b-que pizza)... and another... until I get the Weather Gods attention and cooperation!

Internal combustion engines (ICE's) aren't going away. Not in your lifetime, and likely not in your grandchildren's lifetime either.

This basically comes down to energy density. Gasoline has more than 25 times the energy density of the best Lithium ion battery technology by volume. This is why electric cars with giant battery packs still can't go more than about 300 miles in the best case scenario. Gasoline also has a tremendous advantage over Li-ion batteries by weight. A Tesla battery pack weighs 1200 lbs (540 kg), compare that to nine gallons of gas which weigh 54 lbs (24 kg) - both will get you about 300 miles down the road. There is also charging times vs time to fill a tank. For those who advocate battery pack swapping, consider the mechanics of swapping out 1200 lb, 10 ft long battery packs vs pumping 10 gallons of gas.

This video from Engineering Explained does it better - well worth watching.

I think this is a political boondoggle, not unlike the High Speed Rail project in California. That was a con, a scam to funnel 10 billion taxpayer dollars into union & Democrat croney pockets.

Ten years later, not 1 mile of functional track exists. No one has had a ride, and they keep changing the route because a 150 mph train in LA or Frisco would kill hundreds of stupid people every year (they would, of course, continue to vote Democratic posthumously.)

California also had a renewable energy plan, 75% renewable sources by 2025 or thereabouts. Never happened. Deadlines kept getting pushed back, etc. The only thing that DID happen is that Californians now pay higher energy costs than almost anywhere in America.

In short, its a lie. You cannot dictate to the free market and expect anything less than abject failure. Ask Gorbachev.

Luckily our Rep is not among that group .....

The "last full measure of devotion" that Lincoln spoke of means more today than it did then. Modern medical science allows service men and women to survive wounds that would have been universally fatal just a generation ago. Just because they survive doesn't mean that the sacrifice and the struggle are over. Today's vet needs more support, more love, and more respect from the community - and often for decades.

A funeral takes an hour. Supporting a wounded vet with respect and support is the duty of every American - and it takes a lifetime.

If you go to an airport, this is a great opportunity. You will almost certainly see uniformed service men and women there. Take a minute, shake a hand, say "Thank you for your service!", but a cup of coffee. Let them know how much their service means to you!

this will never get past the senate and even if it did I highly suspect Trump would veto it

This bill is all about political posturing before an election - they know it will never pass they just want the talking point

you are quite correct about that - never the less, I like my Congress Critters to know where I stand, and in this case that I back them in their opinions.

The Cooper tires are a brand that I have not tried. I need to take a look at that tire and see what I think about the tread pattern.

Here you go.... Kenda vs Cooper. I like the deep grooves, helps in wet conditions. Plenty grippy summer tire, not so much if temps are below 50 F.

Very predictable tire, much more so than the OEM Kendas.

I've contacted my Congressman (Womack, R - AR) and my Senator (Cotton, R - AR) and asked them both to oppose this legislation.

Still enjoying my Cooper Zeon RS. Have about 3K miles on them now, wonderful summer tire, not too bad in the wet (I don't really drive in the rain at all if I can help it.) The tire can be spun, drifts the corners well if I get aggressive behind the wheel. Nice thing is that it is always predictable when it breaks traction, I've had some tires that go from grip to Oh $hit! in a heart beat. Coopers never do that to me - gives me great confidence behind the wheel.

Always exciting to greet a new owner!

Spend some time surfing around here, and don't be shy about asking questions. This is a wonderful community, very friendly bunch!

Recall! You think the American citizens would hear the truth from either side on a recall. I think that would be worse off than impeachment. Because you have these idiots that don't follow the news, except the three networks and they are so biased in their reporting how could anyone ever make an informative decision?

Recall is a viable alternative. California recalled Gray Davis (Democrat)... then elected Arnold Schwarzenegger governor.

Interestingly, Davis ran for the Democrats in the special election after the recall... he got creamed.

You might think that this is BS, and in many ways, it is, but this is what they are doing in Britain. And the deadline is 2035 - just 15 years away. And they have no idea where they will get the lithium batteries, and they have virtually no charging infrastructure for this.

How well did pure electric cars do in the British market this year? Sales were up 144%... they now account for 1.6% of total car sales. Sounds like the great car buying public across the pond doesn't have much desire for these things... but the self righteous politicos are gonna ram 'em down every one's throats anyhow.

Do you want that HERE? It's easy. Just vote for the arrogant socialist eco-terrorist on a political ballot in your town this fall. (That's eco-terrorist as in "economic terrorist")

It has been raining most of the day - sleet this afternoon, now snowing with up to an inch expected - a lethal level of snow for the native Arkansan (and the many Texans who attend school here.)

None of 'em know how to drive in the slippery... and I've got to herd 25 freshman students to an observation tomorrow morning at 7 am. :cursing:
