@studiopegyou should be installing a fuse block if your intentions are to power up options. Anything you power up should have a fused power source. jump terminals would not be where you should go to unless it will be fused. Reason for fused power is to protect from wires over heating and causing fires. A good knowledge of basic electrical connection is important A fuse will blow ( open the circuit) when too much current flows. I will be posting a video tomorrow on the subject of Extra fuse block installation on my media and info section.

Under the hood will only require one terminal. He should be able to make it work. You don't need the ground Terminal as there are lots of ground options under the hood. All he need to do is connect the Positive Red Terminal to the Alternator Positive connection. I am sure he will know how to do it. Sorry for your problems, I know this is all confusing when you are not familiar. The reason you need the two terminals at the Battery location is because there is a lot of plastic and not a lot of metal ground areas to connect to within jumper leads. This will be a much better arrangement. Thanks for your nice words, I appreciate.

@studiopeg I think the Jump Port Under the Hood Mount is what you want, it is easy to install and my video will guide you thru the details. I have it on my Sam Owens Media and Information section of the Forum. I am under the Tech section. Take a look at my video and feel free to comment and ask questions. As far as what they told you about the Optima Battery is not correct. Higher Storage capacity is a plus for running things that draw current when your slingshot is sitting and not charging the Battery. Have not made it to the subject of value cap installation video, but if there are people that have a problem with this, I am the man that can make a 5 part video series. Remember I am the guy that produced a how to fuel up the Slingshot. The request came from members saying they had issues with spillage of gas and such. I edited it down to around 5 min. just for anyone that missed it, Showtime! Now, just one more thing. I show how to place Velcro under the roll bar area to hold the Velcro piece on Gas Cap. I did find it would be better to mount the tape in the corner of the area I show. Well, I came up with another video to cover that issue. I will post here. Folks, I reduce my video down to the lowest common denominator. Some folks need detail. No subject is too small for me to create a Cecil B Demille Epic Video Production!

@Solug, For the reasons you just stated, I like the Jump Port Under the Hood Mount, The battery area is too crowded for the extra wiring and material to deal with for Battery Issues. Batteries are heavy and require a plan for installing. They are in the neighborhood of 40 lbs in a very small package. Every effort should be made to minimize lifting in awkward positions. A good plan can overcome the distress of bad lifting. You should not try to lift the battery into position on tray without the aid of a platform to slide the battery into position. Do not use a unstable platform, make sure it is large enough and high enough first. Folks, I have been where you are tying to get, and, I am telling you the correct way to do it. The battery will kill you if you try to just put it into position. @studiopeg is a lady and will give us her results of trying to install the Optima Battery. I know she will listen and will be prepared to complete the job. We await her report for the project.

@studiopeg, Get the plan and materials needed in place. Study and execute!!! Put some safety glasses on while working around the battery connections and using the tools on the terminals. Good Luck!!!

@Stdiopeg, you can do it, first you need a strong little platform that is close to the height of the Battery tray. It will be of great help to slide the old battery onto the platform and also use the same technique to install the Optima Battery. Make sure the platform you choose will not slide, may have rubber feet on legs. So measure and find something that will work. It will be too hard for you to support the battery and put it onto the tray without this method.
This is an idea to show you a start, but it is a little low, Get it big enough and high enough. Get some of that rumber grip liner to put down under the platform. Do use a empty carboard box, it will sag down too much. Put some stuff like books or something if you do use one. Have something hard on top for the battery to slide on. You can do it if you prepare for the task and have a good plan. Good Luck! -

I used @samowens44 idea and initially used some Velcro to secure the cap against a roll bar, but I was concerned it might not stay secured if I left the gas cap there and hit a decent speed so I thought I'd try making a tether to secure the gas cap.
My first thought was to try and make some kind of rotating plate that I could secure against the bottom of the gas cap via a hose clamp or by gluing some blocks tot eh gas cap, but I wasn't sure what glue to try and the hose clamp looked like it would stick out too far. I also wasn't looking forward to trying to cut a large washer-style piece with a lip to secure some kind of chain between the gas cap and the gas filler neck and making it smooth enough to freely rotate around the gas cap, so I found some light chain at my local True Value.

Step 3 - Step 4 -I still think a rotating metal disc held in place somehow against the underside of the gas cap with a pull chain or slightly heavier 'bathtub' chain might work better. As long as the metal disc can rotate freely, a shorter pull chain/'bathtub' chain tether could be used w/o getting caught between the filler neck and the nut that secures the filler neck/tank to the rear deck insert. The cable tie ring worked as an expedient way of holding the tether ring in place against the underside of the gas cap, but a more secure method would obviously be better. I was reluctant to drill thru the side of the gas cap since the gas cap seals the tank in a non-venting manner and drilling a hole might compromise the seal.
I challenge our more creative members to devise and sell me a better tether mechanism.My main concern with a tether and chain material would be if the cap were to dance around on the deck from the wind turbulence and bumps that are encountered with driving. 100 Miles with curvy roads and bumps could produce some marring possibly on the deck. Leaving the cap on the deck it just falls off with no damage. Whatever action you take you do not want a more expensive repair than replacing the cap. This needs to be tested. Just introducing thought!

I challenge our more creative members to devise and sell me a better tether mechanism.A true case story, While using my velcro system, I did forget my cap,but had it secured with my Velcro Mounting point. and fail to attach properly to Cap Location. after driving home from the ride, it was still there. If you do use Velcro, use a strong grade. They make the product for weight specs. I used a light weight spec Velcro, I would advise going to a strong value. I testify, event the light duty held my cap. It should be place in the corner with two points of contact. I feel it is still the best and least effort solution.

Folks, I spend a lot of time doing instruction media for product installs. I think I can spend a moment of time for our members. I know a lot of members do not possess all the skills to know how to do all the task to do a lot of things other than post and read post on the website. I understand that and have gone the extra step to reach out and help in the way I know a lot about. Now our website has a User Map which can display all of our members location. There is a map of the usa and it can be expanded with the + and - signs to a world view. Let's keep it on the USA, we don't want the Russian think we are spying on them with our Map. Now this will be give us a view of where all our members live and give us a chance to get with folks close to our locations. When you touch on a location you can see the members name displayed. We are now asking our administrators if they can display other information that we ok to display at members request.

On the map site it is nice to see where everyone is from,but if you have to get in contact with someone in case you need help on the road, you don’t have their phone number there.
Now the user map could be a great place to have our contact info along with where we live. I could go with that, I will be on a campange to promote the user map. I see a tutorial coming up in HD 4k video. Some people may not know how to do it. That is where i come in. Now if @rabtech will see if cell numbers can be entered for the folks that don't mine sharing. I use my Google Voice number, it is a safe way to share your cell number. We all have our assignments, now lets ralley the troops.

I did find the User Map and have updated my location, I will promote it right now. Thanks for mentioning the User Map @Slingrazor. Great for showing locations. I am in the center of the map for this display. Right in the Northeast Georgia Mountains. I encourage all to update the map now.

Actually, my thread for the Slingshotinfo Message Board came up under searching the internet. So more new people would be drawn to the idea. I want it clear I am not talking of group chat, I am talking about a new way for our discussions of a hot topic to not end up with 288 pages. It could be a lot more fun and draw a lot of folks to the discussion. Just state, lets take this to the Message Board. Now I think there are members using Ipads and Iphones that were not able to do the edit on the message board or the Members list. The reason you couldn't do it is that you need to download the Google Doc App to be able to go to edit mode.

I hope the members that tried the Message Board would comment of their thoughts about it, to let the members know what you think of the merits of the idea. I don't want a chat line myself, as that is not what I was creating. I want real time communications for our members. @StickerDick and his new Fender is an example of what this area would be better for discussion. Real time questions and answer could be held with all members watching and jumping in. no 98 pages to go through to see what everyone is saying. I may be onto a new way to hold our discussion in a place without being displayed in pages. I wished all the folks that think it is a bad idea would have tried it. I could post the Message Board here, If the Administrators will allow me to post. Then all members could go and try it, to see how it can be of value to our group. I think it would bring us together.

I want to thank all the folks that signed up on the Members List I created. I wanted to produce a place for members that did not mind sharing their contact info for other to see for contacting one another and one place to see where folks live to find someone close enough to ride with. I was looking at bring our members closer. I was going to group the members into states and cities for quick view. We have no way of seeing who is close to us in one place. I wanted to create Group Rides for members within areas, to bring members closer. This is what I am all about, bring people together. With SSITS, I was trying to give members a way of communicating with each other for what @Bill Martin was trying to do with his idea of Greet and Meet. I made the list open for all to complete the contact data themselves. All of the folks that signed up did not mind sharing info. That is what I stated, that other could see it. 26 members came quickly and told me it was a good idea. A members List with contact info like a directory is great way to communicate at big events to find one another and plan group get together.
I will leave it to the administrators to see if they want a Members Directory Page that is part of our Website. I feel @ericastar76 could be the right person to construct it as part of our website. It could be secure and an easy entry system for members to share contact infor in one place. This way everyone could get what they want. Thanks for listening
Now for the Message Board I created. The intent was to draw folks together for discussions of back and forth type quick communications. My Message Board was a real time place to communicate. As many members could type and view at the same time. Totally different than just a chat line. I have a real time place to discuss something that a few people want to talk about. Like planning a meeting at SSITS. Anyway, it is totally new way of discussing one thought at the same time without waiting on posting to happen. It was meant to bring our members together, just another tool to do it. A chat line is still posting and waiting where everything slides down. Mine keeps you right in one place to type and view all at the same time. The people that tried it liked it. If you didn't try it, then you are unaware of what I am talking about. It was not meant for people to go and group together. All members can go and be on the message board and view what the discussion is all about. If they want to comment, they can grab a line, enter ID and start talking with the discussion. All real time. I think it is beyond fantastic it is totally new, almost like talking together.

Fellow Members, I just had an idea and was trying it out. I want to always stay in the guidelines of our Website. I have disabled the Threads Slingshotinfo Members List and Slingshotinfo Message Board. i will go back to doing my tech Threads and Video. Sorry want to head off any issues before they become one. I will continue the path I am on with my Section Page. I want to thank all the members that signed up for the members list, we had about 26 members. I will delete the info.
