You need a motorcycle license for the SS in New York. I had an ambitious plan the first weekend I got the SS to take a Basic Rider Course and waive the exam need and then I got too busy. I hired an instructor from a local motorcycle school to accompany me. The school couldn't get any clarity from the DMV on what the test would look like.

For those curious, the examiners make it up on the spot depending on the location. They know this test is B.S. since this is nothing like a motorcycle and essentially give you a light version of a car road test.

I passed. I no longer risk getting arrested. I had to go to the SS dealer for warranty work. I was able to finally floor it and speed there. It felt good.

Again, from his FB page. It has been stated injection-suicide process isn't actually legal in Quebec. Remi may or may not have known this at the time he announced that was his choice and when he would do it. I did reach out to him a few hours before he planned to die, and he responded. I know he was very tired of fighting an hurting.
I don't know anything for sure about the fire. If injection-suicide isn't legal up there, this could have been his plan all along. We may never know, assuming it was his body in his creation. The body has not been identified as of yet.

I didn't know the guy. It does seem it's legal and cording to this article.

And when I saw this thread start, the first thing that came to mind is suicide. Otherwise the coincidence is freaky.

I hope he found his peace.

I get triple points on dining and travel on my credit card . Maybe we need a forum credit card that gives extra points for mods.

I know you made the right decision. Take them damn pogo sticks off and enjoy the ride. Sound system can wait.

@bjk81 maybe I'm just a shopaholic. Impulsive. I mean I did buy a slingshot after seeing one for ten minutes on the highway and a ten minute test drive. So...

@Rob the Slob , Who said the sound is waiting? ... Still need advice there.

damn you people and your recommended order of mods and list of regrets. Coilovers. Coilovers. coilovers. And so I see Hahn is having another Qa1 sale that started today and I'm just sitting in the airport drinking and prepping for oktoberfest and boom, now my credit card has a $700 charge on it.

Bob's tune remaps your ECU to what you have on your Slingshot, and makes the most power with your setup. Advances the ignition, changes the pulse cycle of the injectors, and makes the most of what is there. I gained low end torque, mid range was suddenly crisp, and upper RPM it's a different machine. It is a little scary coming out of the turns hard now, which is just right. At 3,000 with traction control on in 1st gear, shoving your right foot down will spin until shift, but just enough. Turn traction control off, really need to watch 1st and 2nd hard hits. I had it try to do a 180 on me going to 2nd a few days after the tune. He charges $500, plus you either have to catch him at an event, or pay shipping both ways. He was at Maggie Valley in June, I got it done there. Also, there is a code I can hook you up with for $100 off, same price he charges for the tune at shows.
But without CAI, he said it's pretty worthless. Has to get air first. A bonus was an increase in MPG by 2-4, when I drive like I have some sense.

    Here it is on Slingmods.

Polaris Slingshot ECM Tune / Reflash by MEFIBurn Tuning

I read that a few times. I can't tell if I want to be scared in turns? Your description made me pee my pants a little.

@FunCycle you think like me. Top five, prefer all at once if $$ is there. QA1's, DDM short throw shifter, CAI, even length header, and Bob's tune. Pretty sure those would be mine anyway. If I were looking at some type of forced air, the last 3 would change.... but I'm not.

What is Bob's tune? I can't find it in the search. Is it a great song to play on my new radio? :P

I did. I read through a bunch. a lot of posts seem to be in the earlier stages of owning whatever they bought. Wondering what someone's long term review is. Like the motortrend 30,000 mile review :)

So circling back to the first thing I'm going to being my radio, which enclosure do you recommend? I am probably not getting a waterproof head unit and it seems many of you don't have it either so should I then get the underground one?

And I got one head unit recommendation. Any others?

I'm leaving tomorrow for Oktoberfest in Munich. I haven't ridden the SS all week and it's sadly just been sitting there because I don't have my motorcycle license yet and figured I should avoid the risk of getting arrested and missing my flight. Road test in the slingshot when I get back.

In the meantime, I am plotting the first mods. Reminder I have the 17 SL. I am still getting a feel for it so nothing too crazy yet. First which is what I planned from the beginning is swapping out the factory radio. I would prefer something with apple car play.

    1) which radio should I get?
    2) which dash kit should I get?
    3) what do I need to get with it? An adapter?
    4) what do I need to know about installing it? Will the factory USB port work that's in the glove?
    5) while I have the radio out what else should I install? Amp? Garage door opener? More speakers?

Cosmetic things aside, preliminarily I am thinking shocks and cold sir intake (I don't plan to spend money on a turbo at this moment...) but more on that later.

But Navy blue gets the most jaw dropping awes.

Dealer reset the code twice. It kept coming right back. They are contacting Polaris but assume it's just a bad sensor. I drove with the light for about a hundred miles without issues.

I'll let you guys know what it turns out to be.

True story. When I was 18 I had a Jeep Wrangler. It. Was about 6 years old. I was having starting issues. He told me over the phone it was the distributor cap. And if not that the fly wheel. Any issue was always the distributor cap first...

He told me to hold the spark plug wire to the distributor cap while my wife cranked the car. The jolt that went through my arm sort of looked like Back to the Future. Car started. Feel the power.
