Have a topic, question, or information to share? It sounds like you’re ready to create a thread [aka post] – follow these steps to make your first thread a success.
1. Assuming you have used the “Search All Forums” to make sure that your topic, question, or information doesn’t already exist, start by clicking on Forum in the primary navigation bar
2. You’ll now see the available Categories, Topics, and even a brief description of the what kinds of threads should be created/posted under those Topics. For example, under the Slingshot Tech category you can see a DIY or How To,,Step By Step topic that is there for Polaris Slingshot modifications (mods) and installation instructions and maintenance instructions. For purpose of an example, let’s pretend that your first thread/post will be instructions on how to install an aftermarket fuel injector bearing flange
3. Click on the Topic you want to start your thread in – for our example DIY or How To,,Step By Step
4. On the right hand side, above the existing Threads you will find the New Thread button – click on it
5. The following window opens and you’re ready to start you thread/post …
A. Thread Status
1. Default – use this for day-to-day threads/posts
2. Sticky – not sure
3. Announcement – not sure
B. Information
1. Subject – type a quick description of what your thread/post is about
2. Tags [aka key words] – using one or two words per tag, create keyword or two that will help other forum members in the future find your great information
3. Delayed Publishing – use this if you are done with your post but don’t want to share it until a specific date
C. Message – This is where you type your thread. Use the font and paragraph controls to add emphasis where appropriate in your thread
D. Smilies – Like to use emoji’s? Here’s a bunch of emoji’s you can add to your thread to help express yourself.
E. Attachments – Want to add an image to help with your thread? Place your cursor where you want to insert the image and click on Attachments then click on Upload then find the image you wish to include on your computer.
1. Click on Delete to remove the image
2. Click on Thumbnail for a small image insert
3. Click on Full Image to insert the full size image in your thread
F. Settings – We recommend you leave the defaults set but if you are tech savvy you can further enhance your thread.
G. Poll – Would a poll for members help your thread? Use this section to create a polling question with voting rules and count options
H. Personal Notes - not sure
6. All done? Give it a quick review before posting by clicking on the Preview button
7. Definitely set? Click on the Submit button and it will be posted in the forum for other members. Thanks for your submission
