I am planning on going to NC mountains for a couple days of riding in the next couple of weeks. Was planning on staying in Maggie Valley for a couple of days. Does anyone know if the parkway and Maggie are open? (Lodging and restaurants) I also heard that a helmet is not required in NC for the Slingshot any longer. Is this true or just a rumor?

Here is NC House Bill 211 that has been signed by the governor: (NO HELMET REQUIRED AS ALL SS HAVE ROLL BARS)

    theAUTOCYCLE HELMET EXCEPTION
    10 SECTION 6.(a) G.S. 20-140.4(a)(2) reads as rewritten:
11 "(a) No person shall operate a motorcycle or moped upon a highway or public vehicular
    12 area:
    13 …
14 (2) Unless the operator and all passengers thereon wear on their heads, with a
15 retention strap properly secured, safety helmets of a type that complies with
16 Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) 218. This subdivision shall
17 not apply to an operator of, or any passengers within, an autocycle that has
18 completely enclosed seating.seating or is equipped with a roll bar or roll cage."
19 SECTION 6.(b) This section is effective October 1, 2019. Prosecutions for offenses
20 committed before the effective date of this section are not abated or affected by this section, and
21 the statutes that would be applicable but for this section remain applicable to those prosecutions

Hello all. My new to me SS is being delivered today! YIPPEE. Hoping there's an idea out there to make it easier to drive for my better half. My wife is small (I'd say short but she might read this :). She don't hit 5 foot with shoes on. Is there a safe option for extending the pedals/bringing them closer to the driver? Thought about pedal extenders, but don't want to create an unsafe condition. Anyone using these? Thanks.

Edit. I'm 6'2", so I'm looking for an option I can leave in, that brings them a couple inches closer that I can live with too.

For shits and giggles, Disco shoes could work for her. I may have an old pair somewhere.

Sam was a good and very helpful guy. I believe we all should remember him that way and not throw darts at him. I kept his videos and I certainly would welcome him back. There are very few forum members, other than Rab, Dave, Funcycle, and a few others, who were as helpful as him.

Yes but only when during the first start. Every time, other than when it is in the dead of summer, it will cut off during the first start. After that it starts and remains on just fine. Go figure.

Does anyone have trouble with their Slingshot SL dying in idle. Most times I be stop at traffic light my Slingshot engine dies on me.

Just received and installed the Slinglines Dash Cupholder and it was everything I expected. It was an easy install, will hold my 30 oz YETI cup without any problems and more than likely it will hold any insulated cup without bending or coming loose. It is sturdy. The cupholder should have been a Polaris OEM part as it is a perfect and natural looking fit. Also, as a matter of info, you can easily see your infotainment center and also it does not interfere with the steering wheel. One of the best mods made to date and I highly recommend it to everyone.

This is absolutely official.!!! You can add North Carolina to the state list that a helmet is no longer required for autocycles. The Polaris SS is classified as an autocycle in NC. If you need more details, google NC House Bill 211 that has been ratified and signed by the governor. It was effective 1 Oct 2019.

FYI!!! For those of you who are unaware and going to SSITS 2020 in Maggie Valley NC, the Governor signed NC House Bill 211 back in Sep to allow autocycles exempt from wearing helmets. E-Date is 1 Oct 2019. If you want to see the full bill, you can google it.

Slingmods received the Slinglines Dash Mounted Cup Holder w/Sun Visor recently and probably are mailing the pre-orders out as we speak. Before I order one, I was wanting some feedback from those of you who have received them. My questions are:

    a. Is it strong enough to hold an insulated cup, such as a YETI, without any bending out of shape?

    b. Does it cause the pins to come loose when holding heavy cups?

    c. Any issues with the inside cup holder interfering with the steering wheel?

    d. For those of you who have a YETI cup or similar insulated cup, any issues with the fit and holding it in place?

    Thx

The cheapest option is to buy your wing off of Ebay and mount it to the frame and rear panel. I did that and it cost me around $250 for a carbon fiber wing from China. IMHO it looks the best and is out of the way from the roll hoops. There are threads on this somewhere in this forum or on the dark side.

Not to insult your intelligence, but whatever you do Trooper, do not mount the rear wing to the rear panel only. It will flap in time during higher rates of speed. I had a friend who did that without doing his homework. Ensure it is mounted to the frame.

I used L brackets mounted to the frame under the deck. Then drilled holes thru deck and put in screws that are mounted to the wing brackets. I bought my carbon fiber wing from EBAY for around $250.

......so is Slingshotonly & Twist Dynamics one and the same.....I ask because I'm planning on ordering my top 2nd week of Dec....

They are not the same, however, you can get the Twist Dynamic Tops at either Twist Dynamics or Slingshotonly. Check the price out at both and get the best offered deal on Black Friday. I got mine at Slingshotonly because they had the best price at the time and probably still do.
