Good deal. A hint on the side panel is, there is a bolt that holds the side panel on that is hidden under the frame tube all the way in the back of the passenger compartment that is not easy to find. You will have to dig the glue out that holds the rubber cover down to get to it to completely remove the side panel out of your way.

Just clip the zip ties that hold the wires in place so you can move them out of the way to drop the front subframe. Just remember to tie them back in place so they don't flop around and get pinched by something later on. The hood is pretty heavy so have some help to take it off and put it back on.

Well, as they said on HEE HAW "If it weren't for bad luck I'd have no luck at all". Found out today that my Sling will be totaled. Insurance will pay it off and that will leave me trying to figure out how to get anther one. I hope.

That really sucks however I'm glad you're ok. But you still have memories of the entire trip, even with this bad one.

I hope you get it fixed and start making memories again.

You gotta admit overall it's fun!

Yes it sure does suck. But you are right about the memories. Even though it was just for 1 day I met some really nice folks, saw some nice looking slings, picked up a few T-shirts and enjoyed some good conversations with those same nice folks. And yep, the slingshot and making those memories is fun.

What really bums me out about it is that I spent 2 days putting the heat shield and radiator shroud on it just before coming over to MV for the day on Wed.

Yep... I was on my way just for a little ride and a wasp landed on my chest and I glanced down for a second and when I looked back up the car that I was about 3 car lengths behind was stopped. No time to stop and nowhere to go. I hope it can be fixed. The damage seems to be mostly the front clip, hood, headlights and brackets, about 7" of the right tube where the front clip attaches at the top is bent a little, and a few wrinkles in the dash panels. But the basic frame looks good. I'm sore across my chest where the seat belt crosses and my left knee is a little bruised and swollen where I hit it on the steering column otherwise I'm fine.

I finally got mine put on. Did it myself and it was no party. Glad I won't have to do it again. It might have been easier if I had someone to help with some of the heavier things like the hood and finding all the body bolts. Whew glad it's done.

We used to pull into a service station that had a large awning, break out a deck of cards and play a few hands of poker to see who pays for the gas. That usually lasted until the rain stopped. If the attendant came out to move us along we would just ask him if he wanted to pay for it. They would let us alone to get their money.

Today I got the Polaris Heat Shield kit. After about 3 hours of disassembly of the right side and using some words that haven't been said since my military days I finally got the exhaust side on. I have decided to wait a few days before trying to put on the radiator shroud part. It will take that long to recuperate from the arthritis aches that I aggravated today. And so goes this episode of "As the Wheel Turns".

For those of you who are not familiar with the Springtime weather of East Tenn.and Western N.C. It is more aggravating because the rain when it comes is usually in the middle of the day and will usually last anywhere from 5 minutes to about a half hour most of the time. Sometimes there might be a series of showers that will last throughout the day but have long breaks in between. Just have to make up your mind to come and have a good time and put up with a few inconvenient times of rain. So don't worry about the weather and come on and enjoy the good times.
