I just listened to a doctor on tv....he said everyone should wear a mask because once the virus enters you nose or mouth the virus multiplies very rapidly...so every time you breathe out, talk or sneeze droplets filled with virus are expelled....

that said, if you have the virus and you are wearing a mask....your infected droplets are collecting in the mask....and you are reinfecting yourself with every breath.....that could be why people are getting so sick, so fast....

good god almighty that has got to be the most idiotic thing I've ever heard you say....... you can't "self" infect once you got it you got it, your immune system can make it better or worse but touching your own droplets can't make you worse. :00008862:

the different kits available have chosen to use different parts - Trackhamr I believe uses Vette parts - others use ford and I think one uses Nissan - - - you have to go look at each kit - bullet speed, trackhamr & Project 324

best place to check out all three is allthingsslingshot.com - - they are the only vendor that sells all of them that I know of

I just don't understand why make things difficult, there are so many mustangs, camaros and chargers out there why not use something that is easily available.

One of the reasons that make me hesitate when someone offered to sell me an Alpha quad at a very steep discount after the alpha downfall was the fact that they use C4 parts and custom tie rods which down the line would require a miracle(in my limited mechanical opinion) to obtain.

There has been a lot of discussion here over masks. OK - lets just say we all agree we should wear a mask in public for argument purposes. Ran across this....

So if you honestly want to protect yourself and others how the hell are you supposed to be able to tell what masks are effective and which you are just pissin in the wind? At this point I think we can all agree that we have just been pissed on with crap information since day 1.

The virus is not "airborne" so there is really no need to have an N95 mask unless you are a medical professional or someone who needs to be in close contact with people.

The reason for mask is to prevent people spit/droplets from contaminating surfaces that would be touched by others, although a piece of cloth/cheap mask will not help you if you stand in close proximity to an infected person but it prevents infected people from unknowingly spreading the virus.

The really troublesome thing about this virus is the fact some people show no symptoms, I know of 2 people who had covid and presented no symptoms and the reason that they found out they had it is that their wives also had it and had symptoms(one of them passing away).

In one family the kids didn't present symptoms either so had it not been for the wife who tested positive and forced the whole family to get tested they could have gone undetected and continue to spread the virus without knowing.

The other family had no kids so it was just the wife and husband, husband never presented so much as the sniffles yet the wife ended up passing away( 35 y/o no known pre existing conditions).

Like i said before I have no idea what this thing is and why it attacks some while ignoring others but if something as simple as a piece of cloth while in public can help slow down the funerals then lets do it..

Georgetown, S.C. 1 mile from my house. I refuse to run ethanol unless I have to I will not support that ripe off. I even run 93 non in my lawn mower and yard tools

This is something we just proved here, my neighbor and I bought the same snowblower the same day/same model and everything(group buy type thing) he has been using 87 while I have been using 91 ethanol free and mine has been trouble free, always starts and never had an issue while his struggle and has had several issues spark plugs etc etc.

He disassembled his and it had a TON of carbon build up inside the engine, we did mine to compare and the carbon build up was negligible, we did several passes of seafoam and cleaned his and now he says he is switching everything to premium ethanol free.

Ethanol free gas from a good brand will keep all your engines running longer with less problems.

I love how you said this to this guy, but not every democrat thinks or acts like this. It"s like comparing an orange to an apple:thumbsup:^^

There is good and bad on both sides , my problem is with those like like to pretend to be one thing then behave like another....

For example(/readies shield) man who convert to women (and can pass for women) and go to a bar and pretend to be normal women to pickup straight men..... again I have nothing against anyone do whatever makes you happy as long as it doesn't hurt others, just don't pretend to be something you are not.

you have no idea how bad the democrats want Trump out....

democrats this and democrats that....... to me you sound as democrat as tree hugger hippie from commifornia with all your conspiracy theories.

And yes I am calling you a democrat because you bitch, moan and talk non sense just as much as every democrat I know, so you know if you quack like a duck, walk like a duck then you must be a GD duck. :00007983:

Than why is the dealer telling me its a design flaw and nothing can be done to stop it.

The sound is actually more of a shrill squealing sound that you hear more deep in your head.

you mostly hear it between 20 and 30 miles an hour.

yeah that is normal..... aftermarket exhaust will cover that up nicely :00008356:

A headache & Loss of smell are common. Many times people get headaches but a loss of smell isn't that common. I wonder if there is a degree of the loss of smell? Is it really noticeable? Any input from anyone the has or had the virous?

every single person that I know that has had it for real has said that they lost their sense of smell and taste, to the point that one of them burned her lips/mouth when she was making chilli and kept adding hot peppers to spice it up and couldn't figure out why it wasn't tasting right until she had burned herself.

Just so you know the rear end(angle drive) will always whine to a certain degree, most of the time what people think is bad is just the normal sound of it, unlike a convertible or some motorcycles with a belt drivetrain this system is not quiet.

Basically there is a high pitch whine that is normal, what is not normal is when you can hear the metal gears grinding or when the angle drive sounds like it is about to disassemble itself.

Riding yesterday on a supper hot day (99F) went through a tunnel where for some reason temp dropped drastically and this happened as I came out of it.

Luckily I can look over my windshield but imagine what could have happen had I not been able to see the road(stop sign on a busy road).

Like FunCycle always says, a tall windshield can kill you so be careful and know that something like this can happen when you least expect it.

I will be cleaning the belt tonight. I will also look for the grease fitting and then look for a grease gun and grease ;)

I sure appreciate all the help!
Sure hope to run in to you guys in the very near future as well!!

there is a video on youtube by Sam Owen(unless he took it down during his last tantrum) that explains in vivid detail how to loosen the belt, pretty much anyone can do it with ~$30 worth of harborfreigh tools or ~$300 snapon .

If it indeed is a belt too tight it would be simple for you to fix it yourself since you don't have a good dealer nearby.

PS. Tool Elitist ignore my sin of mentioning chinetoolexpress. :00008172:

As much as folks complain about the relatively high cost of aftermarket accessories for the Slingshot, I'd imagine the market for such a crossmember would be pretty low given how few miles many Slingshot owners seem to put on their Slingshots. When I rode 2 wheels, I averaged over 15,000 miles/year and when I haven't had my Slingshot torn apart for extended periods, have averaged the same on my Slingshot, typically riding 3 nights/week. I don't understand how people can buy a fun vehicle, yet only ride it occasionally.

Some of us have very busy lives that have us away from home sometimes for weeks if not months, not everyone has a 9 to 5, 5 days a week with a free weekend.... and then you have to factor that some of us also have multiple toys.

I have 1 maybe 2 days a month that I can ride and then I need to decide between ~7 different toys to see which will get the miles(that is assuming GF hasn't made plans.........).

I know.....First world problems but problems none the less.

The power difference between the SL and the R is just a tune in the ECM. So Polaris is basically flashing the ECM with the tune from an R for $600. There are no mechanical differences in the engine between the 2 power levels that Polaris offers on the 2020 models.

That is the same that most of us have done to ours by going to Bob's or ZZP tune in ours NA slings, now the question is is their tune good enough to be worth the 600?

to my very untrained ears that would sound like a belt is too tight therefore creating friction sounds where it shouldn't.

Probably unrelated but have you grease your center drive shaft zero fitting, like I said probably unrelated but before I drive to the dealer I always double check all the silly stuff that interacts with what I think is wrong.

I'm in Northern Indiana and drive 120 miles to Nielsen's in Lake Villa, IL. Well worth the drive for me just to go up for an oil change. Shawn and Mark are two of the best in the business. I can keep in clean and put lots of miles on my Slingshot but other than that it goes to Lake Villa.

Same here I have a dealer 4 miles from my house, another 25 , 59 miles and I drive 102 miles to see Scott xd675x (Sport Rider Inc) in Altoona WI , he is not only a dealer but an enthusiast who personally owns and drives the slings.

He is rather busy so he doesn't post much in the forums but you can reach out to him via phone or facebook. never had a problem that he couldn't figure out in a very timely manner.

Whenever I have an issue we troubleshoot over the phone and he makes sure that parts are in before I drive there so my sling never spends more at the dealer than however long takes me to eat lunch .

Which dealer did you take it to ?
