For those out there that have a highly modified Slingshot, $40,000 plus in mods, who are you using for insurance to make sure if it was heavily damaged or stolen that you would receive enough from the insurance company to build another?

I know with collectors, custom, or classic cars you can get insurance with an agreed value that you will be paid if the car is a total lose.

Any company names would be appreciated.

any company that insurance the slingshot will be more than happy to sell you extended coverages, mine(statefarm) requires you to have valid documentation/proof of the "extra" that is going to be insured, can't just pull a number out of thin air and buy coverage and expect them to pay if things go south.

From day one I said they should have spent at least a trillion and a half a month helping everyone. They should have issued 7 trillion already. Congress is way out of touch with small business and how most common people live pay check to

Pay check. Small business is 70% of our economy. They operate on very small profit margins. Remember the average person/business is a month or less away from bankruptcy, When they have jobs.

That sounds to me like it is time to improve themselves, every men is created equal and your life is totally what you make out of it.

Maybe if those people did less drinking, less gambling, less partying ....less bad choices in general and tried to prepare more for the future then they would not be in that position.

I want to figure out a way to realistically keep our SlingShot. It's not simply what I say, Neosolidus, it will be a 400 mile one way trip, that number speaks for itself. It just upsets me that Polaris designed the SlingShot to be so heavily dependent upon dealer support, and then refuses to support the dealers that could support the SlingShot.

Yeah that for sure is a tough pill to swallow, is one thing it you choose to go to that one but have closer ones for emergency but if the closest is 400 miles, I definitely wouldn't own it.

Remember guys this was supposed to be a question to the female members posted in the ladies forums........ I guess the "normal" guy response/banter was not funny in her eyes which is the reason for rabtech getting the email and his post about taking a chill pill.

That is what I was afraid of, though it really saddens me to even consider it, it may be the smarter thing to sell the SlingShot before we move. :(

if as you say a trip to the dealer will take a day then it truly might be time to seriously think about selling it and getting something else.

ahhh I was assuming they were the same as car k&n filters

I agree I like K&N as well and it is very well made, much nicer design and quality than other washable AC filters I have tried in the past

I decided to hold off on the cleaner for now - I will wait until it gets ready to need cleaning and will try straight water first - - I have washable filters in the past and water always worked just fine - - but if it doesnt then I will go on amazon and place the order - - no need to have right this second

As soon as i read this I went to their website to order one they don't have one that fits my furnace (16*25*4).

What is important about cleaning them is not the cleaner solution but oiling them after washing them so they can function properly and last as long as they are meant.

Or else it is not a subject the masses even look or think about

maybe wjfyfe needs to spend more time at the gun range like some of us and then his hearing will decline as much as ours( i am a 37y/o with the hearing of a 90y/o). Solves a lot of issues with the slingshot:00008172:

So, it is wrong for a person to choose a Honda Goldwing over an older Harley Davidson, (I say "older" for I believe that even Harley Davidson is manufacturing quieter bikes these days?)

There are certain things that you can upgrade or add to improve vehicles but there are also characteristics that you just have to put up with, otherwise you just end up chasing your tails in circles and annoying your friends while constantly complaining about it, no one likes a whiner.

For the slingshot, noise and fumes are the things that you can mitigate but you will never get rid off and you need to decide early on(ideally before you buy) if it is something you can put up with, if it's going to annoy you then maybe like my buddy Joe a different vehicle is right for you.

For example I have always had a thing for Ariel Atom and recently one came up for sale locally and I took it for a test drive, after the drive I came to the sad conclusion that I would not enjoy owning one because of the high pitch noise the intake makes, rather than buying it and doing this or doing that to enjoy the drive I decided right there and then that the compromises to enjoy the vehicle were not worth it to me and if I bought it I would regret it and end up selling it soon after.

You and I are talking about two different topics, SlingLow. You are relating how to communicate over the noise of the SlingShot, in which I am in total agreement with your methods by utilizing an intercom. But what I would just like is to quiet the SlingShot over-all to where such devices for communicating would not be necessary. But this topic seems to rub some folks the wrong way where whenever anybody brings it up, it is mostly met with disdain and sarcasm? The one item that has made a noticeable difference with quieting down the ride of our SlingShot is when we have the MeanSling Sport Top installed and "properly" adjusted, ("improperly" adjusted it have quite the opposite effect where it can be irritatingly noisy!) Even though I still am not fond of tops on the SlingShot on a whole, one of the positive things the Sport Top can provide is drastically reduced wind turbulence in the passenger compartment, and thus an overall reduction in noise. It was after the installation of the Sport Top, and replacing our full faced helmets with more open half-helmets, (Bell Pit Boss, to be precise), did we actually realize just how noisy the tires can be. So, even though the BF Goodrich tires provide the better traction that we were seeking, now finding a quieter tire which provides the same traction would be a plus. It would also be nice, as well as beneficial I believe, to be able to discuss other methods of quieting down the SlingShot?

    Bill

The problem is that there are many people that come in complaining about noise because they have such a ridiculous and non reasonable expectation since they compare it to a car experience instead of a bike which is what the slingshot is modeled after.

Every single bike I own from the 7k ninja to the 38k ducati have rattles, clunks, hums and squeals, it is just something that you put up with if you want to own a bike, I have a friend who had been trying to make his angle drive quieter and ended up selling and getting a miata and now he is happy and no longer spends every single moment of our rides whining about noise.

All the complaining about the sling noise(open cockpit w/zero insulation) is as annoying as when people who order well done steak complaint that the meat is chewy and/or tough.:00008862:

Well, here is why I'm asking. We do a lot of long distance driving. many times on interstates. at 70 mph, on certain kinds of pavement, with noisy tires, it is very hard to hear when my wife and I are trying to communicate.

I've noticed that the OEM tires always seem to be fairly quiet on all kinds of pavement, but i replaced my rear tire with a Nitto Invo, and when it hits a certain kind of pavement, it makes a LOT of noise. all the noise comes from the back, the fronts are still quiet.

so, turning up the radio, etc, does not address the problem. I'm not trying to cover up the noise with more noise, I'm trying to lower the overall background noise

Anyone knows what the noisiest tires are........I need an excuse to legally ignore her during long rides :00008356:

This download link if from a 2017 post for the 2015 service manual.

I wonder how many of you won't download it.

OK Since it seem you can't get a hint even after being told politely and chose to behave like a child who can't tell right from wrong.........

No one cares what people share on private messages but please don't post about it openly.

rabtech could you edit that post and remove the link since I assume you don't want to get a C & D copyright infringement letter.

I would also add that for his blatant disregard for common courtesy W3JNP should at the very least get a warning if not a ban , his actions put this place that we love at risk by sharing copyrighted material.

if it doesn't have an IP65 or higher rating then it is not waterproof, I am willing to donate an alpine amp if someone wants to put up one of their expensive marine amps and we can soak them both in a tub of water and see how long they will last and IF any survive.

Anyways it seems like discussing this is as effective as discussing which oil brand/type is the better so I will bow out and let you do you.:00010164:

In my opinion buying "marine" rated stuff is like buying OEM oil/fluids, it is supposed to be better but in reality the 3rd party stuff is just as good if not better.
