@kev did you work out pricing yet?

yes theyre going to be updated with pics etc on my website in morning, I cant do it here and because the shipping crate will be large 80 x24x12 inches shipping gets expensive so I may alter from my standard delivery practises and price this one F.O.B OUR DOCK , meeting one more time with courier rep in morning. but just as a heads up here is a copy of one of the e mail conversations I had with @scootertrash explaining costs, materials alone per dolly run 650 to 700 dollars, and yes while we have access to a little more manufacturing automation than he does , it still takes time to ensure square and true on axles, tongue etc . in Dons email I deleted some of his personal thoughts that I feel were part of a private conversation with me regarding liabilities so I wont release them here, that would be up to him ,not my place to do it here.

    Dear kev,

"scootertrash" sent you a message on "Polaris Slingshot Forum":
Kev, I am Don Grayson aka Scootertrash located in Indianapolis. Phone (317) xxxxxxx.
Email scootertrash7745@yahoo.comxxxxxxxx. I will be at Eureka Springs with my Slingdolly. In fact there will be 4 sling dolly she there. Feel free to phone me anytime if you want to pick my brain. Send me your contact info. I have made six dollys so far. It takes 30-40 hours to build one. I don't have a machine shop with benders, plasma cutters, Cut-off saws, torches, press brake, milling machine etc.. I use a die grinder with a cut off wheel or a hacksaw to cut my metal. I am retired and 72 years old. Not interested in starting a business. I'm sure product liability insurance would cost an arm and a leg. All it would take would be if somebody did not strap their slingshot correctly and if it came loose and wreaked their SS they would come after me. The cost of materials to build one is in the neighborhood of $650-700. I have towed me SS to Florida twice, Eureka Springs last year and Maggie. Approx 7-8K miles. The weight load of the SS loaded on the dolly is 600 lbs. Tongue weight on the hitch is about 75 pounds. I drive 80 mph on the Interstate. I use a Honda pilot It is very smooth and quiet. Only cuts my Miles per gallon by 2 miles. Can not back up with SS loaded on Dolly! I lock the steering wheel in place with two ratchet straps. I always advise everybody to not call the dolly empty. If you hit a series of holes and bumps at high-speed the dolly will go crazy on you. If you must tow the dolly empty I advise putting only five or 6 pounds of air in the tires And keep the speed below 55. Of course the best solution for transporting the empty Dolly is to remove both wheels and put the whole contraption in the back of your SUV of course the best solution for transporting the empty Dolly is to remove both wheels and put the whole contraption in the back of your SUV.
For security reasons at my Final destination I have sometimes removed the wheels and stored the whole unit in my hotel room. Contact me if you need more info.

I like the idea and would be interested just another question. Do you tie the steering wheel down to keep the front end from wandering from side to side?

tying down the wheel is always a good idea although I have run a whole day from Daytona without doing so on my wheelift , the electric steering, shut off seems to provide enough resistance to prevent side to side wandering, but just in case of heavy braking while having to swerve or something I always fasten the seat belt through the bottom of the wheel like this , you have to slide the seat forward all the way to buckle the belt , then slide seat a couple notches back to tighten it. I think @scootertash just quickly pulls a ratchet strap or two down from the wheel to the side tubular frame members, either way would work fine, something is always better than nothing

yes @scootertrash I am going to eureka springs , want to haul down sling on new revised hydraulic trailer but I can certainly throw a dolly in back of pickup, took the trailer to SSITR but just wasn't happy with all the moving parts and cost to drop the entire deck flat on the ground so now revised, I just drop the tail similar to the not so ultimate trailer, to be the same I,d have to cut away half the structure and half the strength lol

yah @Roy658 it appears that way but I will do some final measuring with the wheels cocked fully now that I have your Corbin dimensions, the tire arc is less height than that where it would contact the tub if chains not set properly and being angled out there at about 25 degrees it still might work as fender height may be just outside of corbin bags in tight turns. if I need anymore outside width measurements on CORBINS to confirm when I check this Ill get back to you , THANKS

You need an option for the guys running 305-345 tires on the rear. Get that, and Ill order on the spot!

Hollee Batman ! love to hear that , LOL As I explained in post 25 above , we can simply bend the cradle tray wider and roll the tire cradle from wider material for any specified tire width , on special orders and since all the labour is the same the minimal amount of steel plate doesn't add up to much so there wont even be an upcharge just please remember to notify us you don't have a standard 10 inch tire width ! I hope to have finalised pricing on site by end of day today.

Maybe a silly question, but what's the widest tire that will fit in the cradle?

THE stock cradle is set 11 inch wide for 10.5 inch and 10 tires, but any special order request can be made for any size tire , we would simply use a wider piece to roll the tire cradle and bend the cradle tray wider accordingly, as you are not looking at any more labour just another inch or two of material it wouldn,t even warrant an extra charge . but my site will spell out that it is the purchasers responsibility to tell us up front if he has a wider tire ! the tire cradle just bolts on with the 1 inch pivot bolt but the tire cradle is welded solid to the rear cross member.

@Roy658 I know the measurement from the ground to the highest point on my fenders is 25 3/4 inch .it would be 2 inches higher if a guy use 205 75R 14 tires.i deliberately leaned the fenders way back to try and stop as much road spray off the bottom of the tires and besides I thought they looked pretty cool once I blocked them up that way !

no i haven't been able to measure that setup yet, do you have them on your Sling ?if so can you tell me the measurement from the bottom of the corbin right where they meet the tub , to the ground ?

Could that be used with a Ford Taurus or do you need a Truck?

wieght on hitch is only about 75 lbs on mine so yes towing with a Taurus wouldn't be a problem I think. @scootertrash HAS BUILT 5 with his Indy club guys and his design places about 65 lbs on hitch and I,m sure he said pickups weren't necessary. His vehicle in his posted pics wasn't a pickup but I can't remember what it was lol.will check later. Buy yes the whole purpose of dollies is for minimal weight for smaller vehicle les.almost all will state good for 3500 lb trailers and the dolly only weighs 122 lbs so I can't imagine any midsized sedan or crossover suv having a problem with that little weight on hitch.

sorry guys was just busy towing my fishing boat to Lake Huron in a damn wind and rain storm 25 ft is just a little big in the wind lol but as far as the sling towing backwards I have over 4000 miles on my wheelift design and yes even in heavy rain.honestly never found i to be a problem and I have heard concerns of uneven tire wear due to minimal toe out when towing backwards. But your welcome to measure wear on my original Kendras , after 4000 miles there is no noticeable uneven wear and the sling still handles everybody as good as it did before all that wheel lifting.

Please watch our site in the next few days for finalized pricing on our new tow dolly kits. These dollies are built for completely knocking down for shipping and /or storage , all welding , drilling and bolting is completed by us then knocked down for shipping to keep consumer costs at a minimum.

After conferring with forum members, @scootertrash (many thanks) and @BKL who provided us with a detailed pdf showing all dolly designs known to date, We have combined ideas with our wheelifting experience to date, over 4000 miles, and determined as well as being able to swivel a good dolly design must keep the font spoiler as high off the ground and as close to factory heights as possible , to prevent potential damages, therefore our design unlike others, places the spreader bar on a 45 degree angle, behind the cradle tray , verses under it, allowing us to keep the tire cradle as low to the ground as possible, thereby keeping the front spoiler as high as possible. Only with our robust cradle design with 45 degree leading edges, suspended from an additional cross member, and placed right over the dolly tire centreline can we be confident that, as long as there is air in the tires, that cradle is never going to touch the ground ! And if it did, over steep rollover curbs in parking lots etc the cradle is constructed robust enough to simply skid that rear cradle tray with the additional cross member, and 45 degree construction throughout which greatly reduces impact loads over vertical post designs.
While shipping cost across the lower 48 WILL BE included in price the crate already measures 80 x 12 x 24 inches and weighs just under the maximum for courier services, therefore tires and rims are not included in kit as they would greatly increase crate size and cost of shipping. Another benefit to the consumer is U.S online tire sites such as ww trailer tires.com will sell and ship at a great savings verses us paying the much higher Canadain prices and then adding shipping. tires shown are 185 75R 13 to keep front spoiler as high as possible, however another option is 205 75R 14 which will raise the cradle height 1 inch but will lower the front spoiler one third of that inch. All safety chains ,tire straps, hubs and axles, hitch coupler, and loading ramp, as well as a recommended, for peace of mind, additional 4 inch strap that can be placed through the rim securing the Sling to the structural cross member, will be included in kit.

there's a local cruise night at the Canadian tire every Sunday night in London Ontario. It regularily attracks about 200 cars everything from model A,s to brand new corvettes . So today I thought I'd cruise on over .Parked in a row with some pretty heavy iron , Viper, Shelby mustangs supercharged, and a brand new zr1 vett slingshotinfo.com/wcf/index.php?attachment/54573/across from me but you guessed it . You can spot the SS way down the row by simply looking for the vehicle that had the most people standing around, continually. Bet it pissed those big H.P. sauce guys off lol people just kept walking right past all that heavy iron all night and hung around the SS. No surprise there eh !

somebody will know this South Carolina blue bombshell I'm sure of it ! She is memorable to say the least ! lmao and the knowledge she had of all things slingshot was impressive ,she's been around ! And please @ vshot keep me posted of your trip to the falls it's not that far over for me

last week while doing Dolby Parton, That's @Tripod speak for screwing a Parton Dolly, I lost a 1/4 x 1 inch bolt and washer in the gravel parking lot. Well yesterday I found it,I was kneeling down beside my front truck tire with it at a full lock turn trying to get a pic down the line of all four tires, being the two Truck ,the swiveled dolly wheel and the sling front tire.Well low and behold I found that missing bolt !
