Will have to see what happens, have just never had it sound like this before and no changes to belt tension over past 5k miles, if any thing I would expect it to loosen some. Belt is clean, tracking in the middle of the pulley, all too perfect! I'll put up the video this weekend if it's clear to hear the difference. Meanwhile, hammer down.

Dealer called, Sling is ready for me to pick up after dropping off the night before. 1 day and got all 4 recall items taken care of, didn't expect to get it back until tomorrow. However one issue I've noticed and not the dealers fault, is as of late my right angle drive is screaming under load. Now it's always had the growl and was more noticeable when it was new and eventually grew quieter or I became used to it over the last 14,000 miles, but the last 500 especially in 2,3,4 higher rpm, under load, that thing screams so loud, you swear it's going to detonate. So this is a new thing, not the same growl as before, Polaris responded when contacted about it that
"it's normal", well it's not normal for my machine. So fine, I'll push the hell out of it until it explodes and see what their response is then. In the meantime, I''m going to make a video and see how well the sound compares to video in the cockpit from a year does. If it shows the difference like I think it will, it should do great for sales when I post it every place I can possibly think of. I should be able to get one done this weekend, just irritates me how they love their canned responses and won't consider maybe sometimes it's not normal. Yea, It makes noise, haven't had a problem with it, but now it sounds like a turbo about to detonate. -
I had mine done in January here. I drove it in -23 weather to get it all done well before the riding season.
However, that being said, I am sure many parts were pre-allocated to Canada separately, and as such we would likely play by a bit different rules. Best of luck @SlingJockey. I hope the delays don't disrupt any rides you have planned.Coming to SSITR this year by chance? My wife & I are attending, and I believe I owe you that drink yet.
Sorry for late reply, got tires in for the Goldwing and a had to get those swapped out. Going rate is pretty much $100/wheel if you bring the bike in so I was pulling them off myself and bringing them in along with a few other late spring yard duties. 2 days after I posted the dealer called and said he got the parts in so I bring it in this wednesday to have all the work done.
I really thought that this year nothing could keep me from SSITS, but the wife's folks are not doing so well. We are moving them into assisted living this week and hoping that it will be sufficient for now, I'm not sure that SSITR will be an option this year either. We've kinda assumed all trips are off this year due to the rapid decline of their health.

Been over 4 weeks waiting on the parts since put on order with Polaris for this recall. It's what 9 months later and it takes over 4 weeks to get the parts for a recall?
Impact is low as I'm continuing to drive the shit out of it, but jeez, you'd think they would handle this a little better. Oh that's right, it's not from my perspective

Anyone ever locate a part number and source for a T connector that will work with this harness? I'd love to clean my wiring up with a T connector over the Taps that I have in place.

Yea, was looking forward to this, but mother nature could care less.

OG in the house! Hey Sling how was your winter?
Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
As far as Minnesota winters go, this was a pretty gentle one. Not a fan of when it drops below 0 anymore, not a fan of above 90 though either!

Where did you guys ride? My SS is still in winter storage but I took the sleds to the farm for the summer and saw a couple of slings parked at the kwik trip in Wabasha.
It's been awhile since that first ride a couple years back with everyone here but would be great to get together for another run sometime!
Basically a sort of pre-ride of what's planned for this saturday if weather permits. We were surprised the drive-in in Taylors Falls was open already and got some great food there then continued up along the river to Wolf Creek and then crossed our way to south back to Henry's.

Doing great! Ready to put some miles on my Sling again! But as usual in Minnesota, 70 degrees this past weekend and it's snowing right now! uggh.
At least it won't stay and not getting much, low 50's tomorrow and warming thru the week back to normal. -
Nice to see spring again! Been awhile since I've been on or posted. Winter kept me pretty occupied with other things and since my wish list for Slingshot mods is greater than my budget, it was best to avoid temptation. Got out for a really great ride with Henry this past Saturday and if the weather cooperates we should have another great ride this coming saturday. Actually got to ride it for a week in February for unheard of 60 temps, that was a nice cabin fever breaker.
I've had the recall parts on order for 3-4 weeks and haven't heard anything, but it doesn't surprise me based on past Polaris performance in this department, though since I'm on my third second swing arm and third set of bearings that seems to be holding up well at this point, I'm not too concerned. Just keep waiting, like I have a choice anyway, but I'll keep running it.
Alot of owners seem to be upgrading the powerplants, but I think I'll stay NA as mine seems to run so strong, that I can be happy with that, besides downshifting and jamming my foot in it is alot of fun!

Sorry I haven't been on as late. Too much going on this past winter trying to get caught up.

Got my check last Monday finally. Will come in handy, just doesn't go very far or last very long these days!

Yep. Im not sure your going to see it till 2018. There will be an engine change to an all American made Polaris Prostar engine. It will be a 4 cylinder and be made in Osceola WI. Will be right at 200hp and will fit closely with our current engine mounts.
I also have a source or two...
Can't say much more or I get slapped
You can read into this 2014 press release and see they have geared up to do something a little larger than what they usually do...
"Polaris Industries Inc., which is expanding its engine assembly operation in Osceola to make the Polaris ProStar engine platform, will receive $234,000 in tax credits from the Wisconsin Economic Development Corp. as part of the $1.75 million expansion.
The expansion is expected to create 60 new jobs and keep 200 existing jobs in Wisconsin, according to a press release from Gov. Scott Walker.
Polaris, which makes off-road vehicles, snowmobiles and motorcycles, is based in Minnesota. The expansion in Osceola in northwestern Wisconsin will increase its engine capacity by 40 percent."
Yep, can't say much as well more than what's been stated, I do live in the area and don't want to compromise my source. Will be interesting to say the least on 3rd party engine mods timelines and availability once it comes out especially compared to what I'm sure Polaris is going to offer, ie: Turbo?

Check's in the mail...
Yep! That's what they said at the end of the session.. Must be the Holiday mail delay.
-
Anybody get their check yet?
-
Doing well! Been a busy fall, yea, not as active on the board as I once was, but still drop in and keep up to date.
-
The Slingshot will be getting a new power plant, a Polaris engine, currently being put through the paces and dyno now.
Can't say where I got the info, but it's a good source. There are a number of reasons for it, but it's supposed to bring at least as much hp as it currently does. But say goodbye to the 2.4 -
About 6 months after I got my SS, I grew tired of latching issues and with discussions at that time around spring of 2015, I made the following mod and have not have issues since. Just took the dremel and removed and shaped a small amount off that corner where it was hitting near the clip.

I probably should have used the word conversation
