I keep this one by my bedside for home defense at night..... alternate chambers with 45 round and 410 shotgun round. Too damn heavy to carry concealed. I carry a Bersa 380 cc or a SCCY 9mm when I'm out

I have the S&W Governor, same basic weapon. It's loaded with Hornady Critical Defense .410 triple threat shells. .380 S&W Bodyguard is my current carry.

@Guardian_Angel, I'm like you on the Ruger. I love most of their offerings, but it only has to let me down once, and I'll question it in the back of my mind forever after. For my carry weapon, should I ever need it, up to that point it must be 100%. In a life and death situation, I don't want the last thing I hear to be the click with no bang...

@av8ingtom, extra capacity is nice. That said, the weapon will normally get wider and wider, and harder to conceal. Also, I'm trying to stay with the ammo selections I have, and I don't have anything in a .40. I normally carry one or two mags separate on me somewhere, and if the 8 + 1 won't do it, I'm in pretty big trouble anyway! I have a Kimber Crimson Trace like the one below. I can carry it if I will have on a jacket or vest, but difficult to conceal comfortably otherwise.

Sig's price for list is $1,244. My local gun shop quoted me $975. Seems like a very good piece at a really decent price. I agree with you @KayTwo, on the daily carry. While it will be maintained well, it will also not be a show piece... that comes with the everyday carry. As long as I like the gun, the price isn't the issue, within reason. This one falls well within the balance of "reasonable" (not cheap, many of those in both price and quality are out there) and "reliable" for what I plan to use it for.

You'd think, since we are in his backyard and all, that he'd use us and abuse us for a trial platform, but nooooooooo. ?(;):D
Right now it looks like I'm going to begging to be put on the waiting list for round 2 of orders. ;( Damned laws for not allowing me to strap the kids to the roll bars and bring them to SSITS. :saint:

I was hoping something would have worked out. Does that mean the you and @KayTwo won't be at Maggie Valley? Really was hoping to meet you both in person...

As for the tops, I just hope I get to see one and see how well I can get in and out of a SS with this top. I'm interested for sure, but not something I'd get before seeing in person. Same way with seats, I'm long legged and would not want to have the back portion any thicker than stock (prefer thinner, to give me more room). I was ruined by my impulse buy on the Corbin bags. Expensive lesson learned.

@Goats_Hogs If your willing to foot a slightly larger price tag... The CQB Compact is (IMHO), the best single-stack 1911 for carrying that I've ever fired!

    CQB Compact

*when chambered in .45 ACP ~> I shot quarter clusters at 50 feet!

Thanks Erica. I looked at those also, but have not had one in my hands as of yet. I'll only be going .45 ACP for whatever I get, so that is good to know! I will research this one more. It looks like the same as my Kimber, it's not as easy to break down in the field as the Sig. It appears to need a special tool to break it down, while the original 1911 design was meant to break down for cleaning with only your hands. Probably not a big deal, but it is a pet peeve of mine. I'm OCD that way....

I've been looking at this one. I am a 1911 fan (bordering fanatic even), and this one keeps drawing me back. I have a full size Kimber, which is a really nice shooter, but this would be for carry. I've never owned a Sig Sauer, opinions? This is the Nightmare personal carry model. 8+1 and will also accept the standard 7 mag, which I have many of.

I picked it up last night, and mowed with it for the first time. Very nice, and even with my only having about 2 hours on zero turn mowers, I was able to keep the lines straight and cut my mowing time by at least 1/3. Anyone considering a zero turn in this size and price range I'd recommend this model. This one is a left over 2016, and with the rebate I've got a little over 4k in it. I likely could have gotten it a little cheaper in the city (not much though), but we have a dealer in my small town and I wanted to support my local. He stocks parts, has a nice selection of mowers, weed eaters, blowers, trimmers, you name it. And all good stuff, not the cheap junk.

Such an odd title... But I'd say your pretty good at marketing or click bait! ;)

    And I liked it!

Well, I wasn't sure whether to even post this mower on here. With a title like this, it fits. But honestly, with this group, who knows where the thread could go? I've been on a few forums, and read many that I never joined. This group here is better at Thread Derailment than any group I've seen....

Stopped in at my local Simplicity dealer here in the small town I live in. He cut me a really great deal I couldn't pass on, and got this Zero Turn Simplicity Contender. I've been looking at them for awhile, but just couldn't talk myself into parting with the $. It's a 52 inch, it's commercial, and because it was about to change (detachable plastic work bed will be on next model) he discounted it $800 and I got a $300 rebate from Simplicity. I pick it up tonight. Bigger deck than I had, Zero turn so quicker to get around things, and mow speeds up to 7 MPH. Add up to less yard work and more time for a ride in the SS....

I was riding what we call the Dragon back in the 70's. Three to four times per summer, back then I did not need a map either. I had ridden just about every road in that area. Another road that is good in the Murphy area is the Hanging Dog and the Beaver Creek Road that goes to the Hiawassaii Dam (wrong spelling) it is almost as good as the Dragon but with no traffic.

I'm not familiar with that one. Maybe you can lead a ride one day from Maggie Valley? I'd love to take that ride! We have been going to the area for about 25 years now. We usually base out of Robbinsville, not a tourist type of place, motels clean and inexpensive, and great roads in every direction. It's hard to find a road that's not fun in that area. I'm quite certain though, that I've missed some, and this one you speak of sounds right up my alley!

I type this as I wipe the tears from my eyes as there's no way I can live long enough to repay Kenny for all he's done (and I'm sure he's going to do more for me in the future). Although we did share a few meals throughout this project, you can't pay your bills on hamburgers and fries) Kenny, you're one special dude that I'm so fortunate to have met and I want to publicly thank you and wish you all the best in everything you do. You're that one in a million that people hear about but never meet. Well, I'm the lucky one, and honored to be able to call you a true friend and more

Solid. This was the Stand Up thing to do. Well put and honest tribute to a deserving person. Respect!

I've ridden the routes mentioned. I've only been on the Rattler once, and it was on my Road King a few years ago. But Moonshine 28 is one of my favorites, as is War Woman Road (not mentioned here, but ends in Georgia at US 28, AKA Moonshine 28). While I do like the Dragon (found it in 1994, wasn't the Dragon then), it is too busy most times. Hit it Tuesday thru Thursday, and it's likely not too bad. Nice road, definitely the most challenging I've ridden. It was worst a few years ago. All the turns are banked now, in favor of the driver's lane. There was a time, about 10 or so years ago, that you would need to look for drag marks in the center of the road on a left hard turn. The reason was that it was where the "Low Boys" (semis that weren't supposed to be there and were pulling low trailers) would drag bottom in the middle of the road. That meant that the road had a crest, or hump, in the center of the lane. That also meant that your lane wasn't banked, it was leaning the opposite way. If you didn't know this, and pushed it, you would end up off the road somewhere. It's not my favorite though. I keep mine between the lines. Riding roads like this is not like riding a race track. Some think it is, and the use the whole road (both lanes) including your lane. Good place to have something bad happen. I was fortunate last Labor Day weekend to ride it 3 times. The trip in was Saturday night, and congested but slower pace. Sunday morning I left an R1 with an 1100 kit and and Italian that had both tires sliding in the turns because he couldn't stay with me. We talked at the "Mouth of the Dragon", at the overlook. He quickly admitted (using many colorful metaphors that all were the same and began with and F) that he was on the wrong machine. Just saying, if your skill is up to it, there's not many things that can beat a Slingshot in the curves if you choose to push it and the ability is there.

I've been riding these roads for all my adult life. I know the area well enough I don't usually look at a map. I'm on the "Tail of the Dragon's" site in more than a just a few years. Only last summer on the SS, but many times on the Harley, and I don't go 15-20 MPH on the curves on it either. Can't stay with the sportbikes (if a good rider), but I can run most others into the weeds on it. I love the curves, the mountains, the twists. It's what I crave....

I wouldn't run it for the claimed benefit you mention. However, I had some GM aluminum rims (I suspect all brands, but only can verify those personally) that I could not get to seal no matter what. The car was 8-10 years old, my daily driver back and forth to work. Everything I tried either didn't work, or worked only for a few months, then the tires would lose air every few days. I had them cleaned once again, and put in the Nitrogen. I had heard that the heating/cooling caused moisture in the tire that would work it's way into the seal. I drove that car afterwards for over a year, no air loss or issues. Worked for me.

I talked to my wife about joining in with this group on the way down. She said it was up to me, but she'd still just as soon take the 2 lane scenic route down like we planned. However, if you are coming back on Sunday, we might like to join in with. My route will take over twice as long, and there's just not enough time to do that and be back for work on Monday. Otherwise, we will just jump on the interstate and run with all the other crazy nuts on I-75.

Now, let's have a party! Slingshotinfo.com dinner meetup at SSITR. Since I've never been, I just have the idea, but let me know how I can help.

*** Disclaimer, I believe at least one of the rides includes what I'm about to suggest... ***

@GH_Sidekick (Sharon) and I (Brent) will be staying in Robbinsville, NC on Monday. There is a great place to eat, awesome venue, nearby (Tapoco Lodge) that has wonderful food and outside seating by the river. If we head out by 4 PM one afternoon, we could be there by 5:30 or so. Get back by dark, likely 8:30 or 9 (allowing 1 1/2 hours for us to eat). We could take a ride together, have a good meal with friends, and end the daylight with another ride together. The roads there are winding and twisty, and the scenery is beautiful. If we leave earlier, I can take you several different routes to get there, all great rides. I'd lead the ride, providing the amount of us doesn't get too large. Even then, there are ways to get around it if I have a few that have ridden in groups before, that I can use as "watchers". I can only keep tabs on so far back, need others along the pack to help watch for those behind them.

It's just an offer. I'm sure there are places closer. A long time ago I was there in MV for dinner, and JT's steakhouse was pretty good. The advantage to eating local is if the party gets to "imbibing" it's close to the motels/hotels.

Any way this goes, count us in if we meet for time together!

I've not been here since the inception. I bounced around some last spring, and signed up on TDS. I may have posted a couple times there, but don't remember. But I did see someone over there reference this place, and I looked and found it. Wasn't long after, I joined and never looked back. Not sure how this works, because usually when you have over 1000 people on a forum, there will be some heads butting at some point. Those rules don't seem to apply over here. We may not like a post here or there, but there is just more respect and willingness to help each other. In the end, we are more like family. Like others, I thank you @rabtech!

only ones that had long hair like mine were the doctor's, lawyers, investment brokers, and the druggies and rif-raff. I didn't want associated with any of them, so
@Goats_Hogs - hopefully that only counts for those still employed ;( - cause I don't wanna hang out with any of them either :00008359:

Nope, meant nothing to any of the present company on this site and look forward to hanging out with you! Most of the ones I saw out there were posers, and thought they lived on a level that I could never attain. I'm not talking about financial level either... more narcissistic a$$sholes.

I surely didn't mean to offend you Bill. I have the utmost respect for you.
