Good to hear from you Goats_Hogs / Brent! You probably know I'm flying out to La Porte next week to meet up with Bu11sh1t , EjFord , JoeB, Painter  SlingRider , scootertrash ,, and others for the trip down to Huntsville where Sara and I met you, Sharon and so many others at the 1st Homecoming. I understand that you (and DER ?) have other plans that week and wish you the best! Wish you were coming. I ended up putting the General VMax that you showed me on your Sling on the rear of mine and am still running it. It has just over 8,600 miles on it, which is what I got out of the Kenda, and it's still close to 50% left. Of course, I'm not boosted, nor is my Sling.

Keep the sunny side up, Brother!

Wish we could be there, and spend time with y'all! Labor day weekend has been set aside for 6 years now. Special things, with very special people! Next homecoming should not interfere as I understand it, see how it plays out. I'm 3 years from retirement if all goes well, so if I am above ground and you are, that should open up some opportunities! I look forward to some time spent with you and Sara!

Not saying y'all aren't right on this. However, mine has sounded like that off and on for 3 years.... when the belt needs cleaned. Pour water over the whole belt, while rolling it. Immediately take it out and it it's quiet, congrats! You need to clean the belt, but no bearing issues! My personal belief is that the bearing issue is something that was not nearly as bad as the belt needing cleaned. I'm heading out on a 3k+ vacation in ours, and just cleaned the belt and put (I'll get crap here I'm certain) CRC rubber lube on it. No noise, I've done it many times, and it will last for a good period of time. 52k, supercharged since broken in, no oil use, no issues of major. And I play a lot....

    $.02 tossed on the counter.....

My 1st Gen SlingThing is 83" inside left to right. My aftermarket wheels and tires added just over 1" to width. I have only 1" on each side to clear, which is enough. Pull in straight and keep the 1" on the driver's side knowing the passenger side is the same. The 2nd Gen SlingThing added 1", and that's huge when this close. So, stock should be just under 80"....

That said, I bought a trailer off Painter (loved by all that have met him!) and his stock Standard would fit on it. My stock SL at the time, would not. It was close to an inch wider than the Standard wheels were in the front.

That is who is running the General's, my mistake.

I ran the Gmax on stock SL rims. I have switched to American racing rims and can no longer use them. But I've found that the Lexani summer tires that Rev Dynamics sells are as good or better. Stick well, great in rain, long tire life.

It's not much, but the only picture I have of it. Sling is dirty, and still has the tools of this install (implements of destruction) laying around. I installed rabtech 's front protection pieces yesterday. Very impressed with the ease and quality of these! I know it won't look great on all colors, but with the red and black on mine, I think it looks better than without them!

BKL , so very glad you walked away basically injury free! Like you, I will ride in the rain but prefer getting off the high speed areas. Even 40 mph is fast enough to cause issues when you hit puddling water.

The following is by my experience only, and is not directed at you by any means. It's more for those that haven't been in rain, or are terrified by the horror stories about the Slingshot and wet roads. I've ridden about 85k between the two Slingshots I've owned, and been in rain a good many times. I always turn off the stability control once I see puddling water. Wet roads, I don't worry about it so much, but when the water is standing or flowing across the road I ALWAYS have it off. I don't want the system trying to "correct" something it deems a problem. If one of the front tires hydroplanes and slows, and the opposite tire has traction..... the system could actually cause you to spin out. I would much prefer my driving on potential hydroplaning circumstances. I've driven in hard rain several times, and have had some sketchy moments while hydroplaning. However, with the stability control off the worst of these only had my SS slightly less than straight, and it was able to regain footing as soon as the standing water was passed.

G_H tosses $.02 down..... it's only my two cents on the subject.

I'll be in Reno for Hot August Nights next week. Come on by! I actually got my 1st Social Insecurity check last month so I guess I can call myself retired. From what I've seen that means no more free time at all! A couple more years for Sara then we'll be free to move about the country.:desert_island::beach_with_umbrella::desert::snow_capped_mountain:

I find myself between jobs at the moment. I have found something that I believe will be better, more challenging and a better use of my skill set. I will start Monday. I plan to retire within 5 years and they know that. We are heading to VA/NC to visit my wife's family soon, taking our 15 year old granddaughter with us.

    Congratulations on being Socially insecure!!

Got my attention! The correct number of firearms to own is the number you currently have plus one.

    How ya doing buddy?

    I agree with the +one.... ;)

Doing great here. Hope all is well with you and your beautiful wife! It's been too long, hoping we can somehow meet up again! Didn't work out for you last summer, but maybe in the next year or two? Hope to see you both again soon my friend!

I put on the new Madstad windshield I ordered awhile back (Christmas break I think). It is in light tint, nearly clear. I had the darker smoked one in the same size (shortest they have for sale) and it looked great and did everything I needed...... except one thing. During summer, when heading into the sun and the windshield is up to bring in fresh air and take heat from the cockpit, if you are going into a tunnel of trees with shade, you go blind. Now anything close in front of you, no way you can see it. Even with it down, there is still the blind spot. I took a rock (brick shaped) that took out my back rim. I was lucky, the tire still hung in there and I was able to make it home.

Love the Madstad, love the dark tint look. But with it down I can see things potentially in the road with the windshield up or down.

We were there, and so glad we made it! I saw many friends and their Slingshots in the video SC Slinger posted. I even saw my wife and I around 4:10 in the red Sling in the background. While I was there, I talked to DDMWorks and also ZZPerformance about boosting. However, that Slingshot was sold in a few months with 48kish miles to go overseas. I had bought another friend's SS, same year and color with the DDMWorks supercharger in the fall. I enjoyed that reunion so much, good times with great friends!

Really hoping this 2nd reunion can happen! That is a great area, spring or fall would be nice! We will try to be there whenever/wherever it happens should it happen!

You are going to like the madstad windshield. I really like mine and we rode for over 4200 miles and it was great.

I have a f4 plus 5 for sale if anyone interested.

I really like the versatility of opening or closing and with a little tilt it’s very comfortable.

After sayin all this, you probably have had one before, if not just my $ .02

    JUST SAYIN

I've been running one for 3 years or more, and agree with you. My first windshield from them was either custom or discontinued. It was given to me from a great close friend and forum member. It was only a little over 6" tall and very light tinted. I'd love to replace that one with one just like it. It was scratched some, and when I replaced it I went to a 7", either medium or dark tint. Bad when the shield is up and riding into canopies of trees. Between the windshield and the sudden shade... along with sunglasses, I was riding blind. I hit a chunk of rock in WV that was in the center of the road with my back wheel because of it. Bent the rim, had to replace. The 9" may be cut down to make what I want, but at least I'll be able to see thru it until then.

I have a new MadStad windshield to install that's still in the box. It's located close to the Slingshot, does that count? Cold here, other things at work and other taking up most of my time (other than following the 2 grandkids I have that are on HS varsity basketball teams local). I have a few things to do to the Slingshot before or soon after riding season starts. Flush the coolant and refresh. Change the supercharger oil. Install the new windshield.

And the most important one, find rattle in the Welter FSX exhaust and fix it. Might be a clamp, or might be internal. It's stainless, so if I take it all apart and shake the parts I should be able to tell where it's coming from. If internal, I'll cut it open and weld as needed, then weld it back together on the outside. Mine is less than 2 years old, need to fix it and run as there are few.... if any... options for boosted that sound good and exit the side. We get nearly no fumes being boosted with this exhaust system, I just want it back to where it was when new.

Ours wasn't bad in the end. Not fun, likely end up with 8 or more inches but much better than the 2 feet that was mentioned on the high side. Hard to say, winds here have places clear (other than the 1/4" or so of ice that's below all this on the pavement and everything else) and over 3 foot drifts. Very few places on the roads have clear spots, seems to dump there for this storm especially the east/west roads. I drive about 20 miles west, and 10 miles north for my work. The wind has been from the north, and even if it's a flat area, the ditch next to the road seems to create a swirl and dump it in the lane.

I went to work today, but they closed at noon and I came home. Glad I did, it was bad enough (open roads, usually 35 minutes on a good day, took an hour with no traffic but plenty of snow) but got worse later in the day. I cleared my drive at 5pm with my snowblower, not looking the same now. All good, I'll leave my daily driver here tomorrow and drive the truck (2013 GMC crewcab Z71). Wife drives a Jeep Wrangler Unlimited 4 door, and only works 7 blocks away....

Current weather, not bad for January! Tomorrow a high of 51 is supposed to be met! Then things turn on us. By Wednesday night, forecast says 3-5 inches of snow. Thursday gets worse, 8-12 inches of the "White Hell", with winds of 20-30 mph. Thursday night another 3-5 inches of snow.... that's 14" on the low side and 22" on the high side! Oh, did I mention.... we will likely start with freezing rain before all of this. Friday winds jump up in the 40 MPH zone. Problem is, we are on the edge..... some say mostly snow (which I hope, but dread), and some say only 2-4 inches of snow with up to 2 inches of ice first. Just started the generator and checked it to see it's powering. I also started the snowblower, all working well.

See where this all goes. Might have better (more accurate) forecasts by Wednesday evening.

Got up to 57 today, and has been sunny but rather windy. Roads are white with salt, or I may have gotten out for a bit. They have downgraded the storm for now as far as what they expect, but it is a winter storm warning starting at 7am tomorrow. Most will be rain tomorrow until evening, but some of that will turn to freezing rain and sleet before we get snow. In about a 24 hour period starting tomorrow evening, we are forecast from 9" up to 16". Some better than before, but still enough with the winds to be nasty. Winds are going to be here during the snow now, and will be in the 20-30mph continuous range but gusts into the mid high 40mph range.

Still a full day out, hoping it lowers some more. I'm not a fan of winter or snow, and ice from freezing rain is worse.

I have a 2019 SL with 15,000 miles on it and my warranty is up in the middle of May. This sling has been flawless and I’m just wondering if anybody has any thoughts on spending $1400 to extend it for three years or as EjFord would do put it in the tank!

On a serious note does anybody know of anything I should do dealer wise before the warranty expires because I’m not aware of any recalls or issues.

    Thoughts? Suggestions?

So far, I've done all my work on the 2 Slingshots we've had. First one had 49k on it when I sold it, only recalls were done to it by Polaris. Second one I bought from a forum member bjk81 and only had 10,700 on it. It was supercharged most of those miles, and all I've had it. After two summers seasons, it now has around 36k. Most problems have been minor, and all I've fixed myself. If you are good with doing some backyard wrenching, I'd say pass. Instead, I put my money into a few parts known to fail. I have spare swing arm bearings and a spare angle drive that was given to me from a forum brother that I will not name here. I had already bought one, but it was in poor but rebuild-able shape so I gave that to a mechanic friend that has one also. Still have less than the extended warranty cost in them... and with being supercharged, they likely would not cover any of the issues I've had so far. Like mentioned, you have 15k miles and no real issues, I'd pass myself.
