At first I thought people weren't wearing masks because they weren't taking covid-19 seriously. It could be they can't deal with smelling their own breath. They didn't know how to wash their hands maybe a little instruction on brushing teeth is in order.

most of the virus deaths reported So far are up to Age 49....

What’s the average age of those sailors? last I heard there were 155 sailors on that boat tested positive..... I’m going to go out on a limb and guess there are not 155 ventilators on that boat...so already he had the possibility of Up to 155 deaths....
not enough for you? What’s your acceptable number? IN PEACE TIME....

You don’t have to be in the service to see he did the right thing....you don’t have to graduate high school to see it.

I’m talking about the saving lives part...we already know he violated protocol...again that’s a judgement call .....I’m very sure he agonized over it before doing it. He picked the right thing to do....

if your kid was on that boat and the captain did nothing and your kid died from the virus ....would your tune change.....would you blame the captain for their death or would you say...he followed protocol....and that’s the way it goes..... too bad kid.....you gave your life for nothing ...At least we weren’t at war....Or would you blame upper management?

That's a lot if words for not answering the question. Nobody is the correct answer, nobody died. Still waiting for those names.

You have some corrections to make. You clearly don't pay much attention when Bigdog comments. He is a Trump supporter through and through. When comparing posts from him to posts from you that are in regards to Trump, smart money would be on him getting on his knees to service Trump before you.:P

Kissing his ass, not blowing him, well, or, never mind.:00008356:

Correction added to the original post.

Thank you Bigdog for the info it helps me to put your opinions on military matters in perspective. Approaching an issue without experience creates a different perspective. I can now see your only real interest in the ex captain of the Roosevelt is to bash Trump. I get it you hate Trump as you have indicated. The concept of chain of command is for you only a concept not a part of your experience. OPSEC and chain of command are more than a concept to me so our opinions do not match. You can pick your heroes and I'll pick mine, a Captain that fails his mission is not a hero to me. He allowed his ship be compromised and announced it to the world, he needed to be removed and was. The now the ex acting SecNav removed the weak link and them stepped away. That's best case for Trump, the bad man is gone and Trump didn't need to do it. Now a new captain can be assigned without the ex SecNav tainting the selection.

Correction: WOLF has pointed out that you worship Trump not hate him, I stand corrected. It appears your hatred is reserved for Modly.

one thing I found interesting - - Secretary of Navy goes on a Ship and uses unprofessional language to admonish the ex Captain for doing something he should have known would go public when it shouldn't - - So shouldn't the Secretary of the Navy have known that his admonishment and off color language would also go public when he probably didnt want it to???

it seems hypocritical to get upset about someone letting something go public when you are doing the exact same thing :/

Or it's an example of how loose the crew is when it comes to information. The crew following the Captains example. What was said in the ship wasn't passed outside the ship by him.

Bad language on a ship full of sailors what is this world coming to?

Quick comparison: "Thomas B. Modly is an American businessman and government official who has served as Acting United States Secretary of the Navy since November 24, 2019. He served on active duty in the United States Navy as a helicopter pilot and spent seven years as a U.S. Navy officer." Compare this to: "Brett Elliott Crozier is an American naval captain (U.S. rank O-6) in the United States Navy. He entered active service in 1992. He made multiple deployments in support of U.S. 3rd, 5th, and 7th Fleet operations, numerous exercises and Operations Southern Watch and OIF. A partial list of his earned honors, awards, and decorations: Naval Aviator Badge, Legion of Merit w/ 1 gold service star, Defense Meritorious Service Medal w/ 1 silver oak leaf cluster, Meritorious Service Medal, Air Medal, Joint Service Commendation Medal, Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal w/ 2 gold service stars, Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal w/ 1 gold service star, Navy Meritorious Unit Commendation, Navy E Ribbon w/ 2 Battle E devices, National Defense Service Medal w/ 1 service star, Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal, Iraq Campaign Medal w/ 1 service star, Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary Medal, Navy Sea Service Deployment, Ribbon w/ 3 service stars, Navy & Marine Corps Overseas Service Ribbon, Command at Sea insignia." Which one of these two do you trust?

captain has more than a boy scout merit badge

Bigdog Just wondering which branch if the military did you serve in?

I don’t think the good hero captain will get a presidential pardon....I do think that his commanding officers and this guy....Acting Navy Secretary Thomas Modly.....are going to have some ‘splaining to do...in front of the president.....

My prediction....Captain keeps his rank....gets his pension and gets to sail a desk...or quietly slips away....

acting navy guy ...might not get the academy award...for his acting...

The commanding officers could get an ass chewing....and the entire incident gets swept under the rug ....after a review of the entire situation...

but guaranteed Trump is absolutely going to find out everything about the entire incident.....
the navy has been totally embarrassed by this fluster cluck. And I’m guessing unless something seriously was mishandled they will want this to go away really fast...CYA is seriously in play...from all angles ...

Unless something has changed he lost his ship, no demotion or discipline. Same pay minus sea pay as he is no longer at sea.

If he had canceled the port call all those cheering fans would have hated him and the higher ups would have praised him. He failed to protect his crew and threw himself on the court of public opinion to try and save his ass. He was wrong if even for a good reason he was still wrong and gets to pay the price. If he was ordered by his superiors to let people off the ship they will pay as well.

The article answers some the questions you raise.
