Personally, I think that not only should they be registered, but owners should have to take a class and test about done operation.
I have my FAA commercial operators license and fly responsibly. But, still get lumped in with the people that fly irresponsibly from a public viewpoint.
Locally, I see people some idiots flying them in parks around people in an unsafe manner. That causes problems for me when I want to fly mine.
You can seriously hurt someone with one if you don't know what you're doing.
Now, I realize that education won't stop people from being idiots, but it can help.

I have been trying to figure out what to say ever since you made this thread... As you know, the people on here are family. We will be thinking about you and wish you the best on your medical issues .

Please don't leave the forum. Keep us close by posting as often as you can. And remember that if you ever need anything you can reach out to us here.

    RABTECH

    Thank you sir.
I plan on getting on the forum when I can. But, wanted to post this while I physically can.
There will be a point in the near future where I can't until I get through this speedbump.
I wanted to make that post while I still could.

@Joker256 , when you are able, you are welcome to drive mine anytime. And once you are over this 'bump' we look forward to riding together.
Sling or not, you are family here!

    I appreciate that offer.
It amazes me for many people have said the same thing. Trust me, if I get through this without any lasting neurological effects, I'll be offering everyone a ride in my sling!

First, I just wanted to say, it has been a pleasure being on this forum. I've been a member of quite a few online forums in the past, and this, by far, has been the best. To see how many people go out of their way to help others is astounding. @rabtech should be incredibly proud of what he has built here. I have met and talked to some amazing people through here.

I joined this forum because I planned on buying a Slingshot and was looking for some more info from people that owned them. What I found instead was a group of people that love their rides and care about each other. A kind of Slingshot family. (A dysfunctional one thanks to @Tripod) :D
That being said, I probably wont be on here much, or at all, from here on out.
I had a couple of injuries at work that delayed a purchase, but now, buying one definitely won't be in my future. Without going into too much detail, I have some health issues that I'll be dealing with over the next few months, and probably won't be in any condition to enjoy one for quite a while, if ever, so, I have to let that thought go.
To those few of you know know what's going on, thank you for the support. You have been awesome. It'll all work out.

But, to everyone on this forum, I just want to say, You have made this the best online community I have ever been a part of. Please take the time to thank the admins of this site. They have built something great.
Hopefully everything will work out down the road and I can have a chance to meet more of you. Keep having fun, keep the pedal down, wind in your face and the wheels on the ground!

I've designed and built dozens of roll cages for off road vehicles, and, in my opinion, there are quite a few obstacles to overcome to make a proper safety cage.
    Primarily, attachment points.
A roll cage should be attached to the frame. Not a problem in the front because you could attach to the frame tubes, but in the rear, not so easy. It would take a ton of cutting.
"Why not bolt it into the roll hoops?" To have a true safety cage, it is welded on, not bolted on. The fasteners would be the weak point.
If you ever look at bolt on cages for, let's say, Jeeps. You will always see it called a "Sport Cage" or "Trail Cage". They are designed for a slow speed flip, not a high speed rollover. You will also see a disclaimer about liability saying that it is for looks and does not offer proper rollover protection. This is a legal thing because the bolts could fall. No company wants that liability.
Also, a cage needs to triangulated at each node. (At every bended corner there needs to be at least 3 tubes coming together for strength.)
And it needs to be made of, at a minimum, 120 wall DOM tubing. That would add a TON of weight.
So, yes, it is possible, but, the cons far outweigh the pros.
A custom shop that is experienced in building cages could definitely make one.
But, purely from a liability standpoint, I don't think you will ever see a company sell one in mass production.
Hope that helps answer your question.

For clarity, I won't be involved in the group buy. I was just passing on the info he gave me.
I was ordering some of their LED push buttons and saw this post and asked while I was on the phone with them.
If someone want to organize a group buy, contact Ed.

    Jim,
I can probably speak for everyone on this forum when I say, "life if too short to stress."
Please, trust me when I say this.
About 2 weeks ago, I received some devastatingly bad news in my life, that I'd rather not get into, but it really made me realize that life is short. Enjoy every day you have because you never know when it'll be your last. Don't stress about possibly disappointing someone on this forum. I don't think there is a single person on here that would be mad if you don't get their paint done in time.
What you do for these members is awesome and we all appreciate everything you do.
But, when it gets done, it gets done. Be it a week or a month, it is what it is.

Trust me, I now look at every day like it might be my last. Do what you can for others, but always make time for yourself and your family each and every day and enjoy it while it lasts because you never know when it will end.
    Relax.
    Take a breath.
    Enjoy life.
    Repeat.

where did you get a T harness - they told me they were on backorder for 6 weeks

Just talked to Ed at Guard Dawg. They do have the T harness in stock right now. $70.

BUT, he said that if there are several people that want it, he can do a Group Buy for the forum and bring the price down some If you guys are interested.

    Also, about the remote start:
They don't reveal to the public how they do it due to security reasons, but, here are the steps to getting it done. (They have after hours support for this as well)

If you bought it directly from them, You scan your drivers license and sent it to them, they verify it in their system.
They also require a credit card for further verification and charge $1 to verify it and then refund you the $1.
And then they will do their Super Secret Process. (A 5 minute process)

If you purchased it through a vendor like Slingmods, they don't have your information.
So the steps are the same, BUT, they have to verify your purchase with the selling vendor.
Now, if this happens outside of the vendors business hours, you would have to wait until they are open to verify the info.

(Personally, I think the Secret Process involves Flying Monkeys bring you a code, but he wouldn't confirm that)

    Hope this helps!
