I have had this same problem in the past with my Truck. Seams like I would always put more in than I took out. Making sure the engine is warmed up with a 15 min ride before I changed the oil helped the problem. Cold oil doesn't drain well.

I think the bigger question for us is "Where was Stabilitrack? " How did this thing get sideways in the first place? He was probably following a car in 5th gear, dropped it to 4th, and mashed the gas to make the pass. We all have done it. This time it got sideways and he loss control.

Last week I was getting pretty aggressive on a country road with some 90 deg. turns in it. I have taken this road many times and drove it aggressive. It's cool because it cuts through farmers fields and you can see if there is oncoming traffic before you get into the turn. This time I hit the apex dumped the clutch, mashed the gas and it got sideways and I ran off the road into some weeds. No damage except for my heart racing at 240. Scared the hell out of me. I've done the same move in the same turn many times and the SS just tracks out. My tires are good and I wondered about my Stabilitrack. It is harvest time so I tracked it up to some grain may have been spilled onto the road.

Anyhow, I think the next mod needs to be racing harnesses and soon.

Is anyone out there using the Wet Sounds 6.5 speakers? I have had me eye on them because they are 100w RMS and 200w peak while most other marine 6.5s are 50w RMS 100w peak. They are some of the more expensive at about $325 a pair with LEDs. Wondering if the price is justified and you get what you pay for.

I'll bet they are some generic LEDs that you can get at Autozone, Pep Boys, ect. They sell then in various lengths and colors and plug into a cigarette lighter outlet like the one we have in the rear of the cockpit.
I bought a pair of blue ones, plugged them into the glove box outlet, and mounted them under the dash for some cockpit lighting.

    Trooper,

I just shopped for H3s and H9s. This denotes the type of connector ring they have and they will fit the SS. No need to get vehicle specific bulbs.

After reading the last few post I think that I will cut a hole in the rear of the boot to increase airflow for the fans. Didn't think of that during the install.

I am in the process of painting calibers, front control arms, and rear sprocket gloss red. Wondering if I should still clear coat it for more protection?

I've been a member of Iracing since 2010. I don't have a fancy rig but a good PC with triple screens and a good wheel. I have a corner PC desk and mount my wheel to the desktop. Remove it when not racing. it can get quite immersive, the pulse rate goes up and you start to sweat when the racing is good. Best and cheapest way to experience the thrill of racing.

Sorry I missed it EJFord. I put my sling on jack stands last Tuesday and started tearing it down for mods. Seen the post on Thursday and said "Damn." We live in the same town. I'm sure we will get together. Next Time.

Yes they will plug into the existing wiring harnesses. However with the H3's you will have to make a slight mod to the weather proofing boot. You will have to make about a 3/4", cut remove the existing wires from the boot, and fish the ballast through and make the connection on the outside of the boot. After connection is made I then used electric tape to make sure they do not come apart (it is not a locking connection). I also put a dollop of silicon calk on the hole I made to the boot for extra measure.

I just want to pass along that you do not always have to go to the Slingshot aftermarket parts stores. A LED headlight conversion can cost as much as $199 at such sites. I went to ebay, got the H3's (outside lights) for $12.89 and the H9 (inside lights) for $34.19 for a total of $47.08. Shipping was fast, ordered Monday had them on Thursday. I am very pleased with the outcome and love saving $150.

I am wanting to smoke my taillights and am looking for advice. Seems like the only options are to spray tint them with either Plasti-dip or VHT nightshade. I am a perfectionist and they must look perfect however I am afraid to try this with the SS because of the hard angles the taillights have. The Plasti-dip can be removed if you make a mistake, however it seems like you have to put it on in pretty thick coats which increases the chance for runs. VHT looks better but you get one shot or it is going to cost you new taillights.

I am also wondering if it would be best to dismantle the taillights and tint the inside of the clear lens. I think any runs would be less noticeable and you will not have to clear coat them. I have never seen a great job with anyone that has spray tinted their lights so I am apprehensive.

So has anyone here done this and did you like the result? Do you have any up close pics?

    Thanks
