I am sure that very few here can probably actually answer this question, but I am just a wee bit curious in how the SlingShot's weight changed over the years. Ours is a 2015 SL where I removed everything from the storage compartments, filled the tank, and headed out to the public scales. The results were 1150 pounds on the front, (575 pounds per wheel), and 600 pounds on the rear, 1750 pounds total. Subtract the weight of fuel, (9.8 gallons X 6 pounds per gallon = 59 pounds) and the weight of our SlingShot sneaks in around 1691 pounds. Oh, and yes, I removed my fat ass before weighing! ;)

Justina was considering a Vanderhall, but I have since heard from several folks familiar with the Vanderhall that their customer support is basically nil to non-existent, and thus warned that we don't even want to consider one............................................

Wow! Maybe things are done differently out west here where back in May of 2015 when we purchased our original SlingShot we got it for $25,000, no haggling and that included the full cover. Justina rode it off the showroom floor only after a couple of hours of arrival. The dealer has always stepped up and serviced our SlingShot as needed without consulting home base for approval. They even went so far as removing body parts from a showroom model to replace warranty parts on our SlingShot just to get us on our way and the service representatives have also appeared very knowledgeable when it came to repairs? So, with what we have experienced, some dealers are obviously using contacting Polaris before doing repairs purely as an excuse?

I do have a gripe where Polaris is forcing dealers out of handling the SlingShot, where here in Oregon we are now down to two from six original dealers. Having to now travel nearly 200 miles to get to our nearest SlingShot dealer is admittedly a pain.

YIPPEE!! The SlingShot is finally on the road again. Added bonus is that it tracks straight down the road so hopefully we did not knock it out of alignment. An added note is after sitting now nearly a month that the 5 1/2 year old battery started it easily!

All is well with the world again!

Thanks, but a complete set of SL wheels arrived last week and this one will be scrapped. A couple of weeks ago we had just installed new tires. When we went in today to have the tire swapped to the replacement wheel Justina noticed a bubble in the sidewall, so the tire was damaged also with the impact. The road hazard warranty just paid for itself!

    Technically, a Slingshot isn’t a motorcycle either...

A matter of interpretation, assuredly, but the SlingShot was initially conceived as a three-wheeler and thus allowed to be marketed as a motorcycle alternative. If the SlingShot had been conceived using four wheels, well, we already know the answer to that.

You all beat me by seconds, I got too long winded! ;)

It sounds like your belt needs adjustment, to test this theory get a can of dry lube, (like below), and spray the belt, if the whining stops then do a search of this forum for all the information you will require to adjust your belt to necessary specifications. Sometimes quite a bit of trial and error may be involved, but just plan on lots of patience. Just one of the joys of owning a SlingShot! Have fun!, (and that is being sincere, not sarcastic! ;))

Hey, just a lil update where we will have a complete set of 2015 wheels heading our way very soon from a fellow SlingShot owner, we really appreciate those of you that came forth with your generous advice and offers to help us out.

    Thanks bunches,

    Bill

It is good that you can take your time, with my slingshot being my daily driver I would need to decide what to do quickly to get it back on the road - - its one of the reasons why I wish there were wheel sets sold that were the stock size

Yep, we would be in a world of hurt for sure if an instant decision had to be made, especially so if we find that we have knocked the front end out of alignment................

Which reminds me to ask, is there a down and dirty way just to roughly check the alignment?

    Bill

checking out my brakes on the slingshot and noticed that the tires are marked not for automotive use....LOL.. just thought I would share.

Well............................................the SlingShot is not an automobile? :/

Oh, and Birddog may have a point, this is taken out of the maintenance manual:

    Note the devil icon? ;)
