Love mine. I remove the fabric in the winter for those sunny days. Helps the warmth. It will not stop the rain though....If it looks like rain, I'll drive the truck.. LOL

Too rich for my blood.. I'm only a couple of hours from Maggie Valley anyway.

I love mine so far. You will be happy…will it be the one under the rear or above the rear tire? If it’s under I would recommend the heat shields.
Just the muffler. Didn't get the rear exit.

300 miles is a long trip for a lot of people. Two Slings with a total of around 120,000 miles since 2/12/15. I would not want to listen to that exhaust for over an hour at a time, my head would be rattling.
We'll see. It's supposed to be a good tone.

I am running the Welter Duals, but my buddy bought the Thermal R & D last year. I like the sound "BUT" to me it is a little too loud to be used on long trips.
I don't do real long trips but I hope it's not like that... My long trips are 300 miles in a day. Over into the mountains and then play for a few hours then back.

Yesterday Slingmods had one day special on the Thermal R&D muffler and I talked myself right into it. Not looking for HP or heat reduction, just looking for a little more tone on the exhaust. I know it's hard to get a real good sound out of a 4 cyl engine..., but I'm going to give it a try. Anyone else running the muffler?

First motorcycle was in 1971, sooooooo 49 years ago I think. Check my math.

Where might that be measured from?
Probably be smart to measure from several places, front to back
-
Nope, didn't say I was going to lower it. Was just wondering if anyone did. I'm happy as hell with the factory ride height setting that I'm using now.
-
Has anyone here experimented with the ride height? More to the point, lowering the ride height. Factory is supposed to be 5 inches.

Have put almost 750 miles on the new shocks now with various settings. Several trips across the Cherohala and the Dragon and I'm convinced they were money well spent. A much more positive response from my input into the machine. Also tried the "soft" setting recommended by Dave when I picked up the shocks and it does give a better ride but I don't like the mushy feeling after having them set on mountain riding. Thanks again Dave@DDMWorks for another outstanding product. If I thought I could use another 170hp I'd go for the DDMworks supercharger kit. Think I'll stick with what I got...LOL.

Well. Everything is installed and tightened up. Shockingly enough even with the bags the front was more difficult than the back. I did gain a full one inch of height all the way around so I guess I'll have to get back in there and do some further adjusting.
When measuring are you measuring to point 1 or point 2 in the pics? Thanks for your response as well as the rest of y'all for pitching in. Wish I would've found the time to do this when it was slightly warmer.
Yep, 1 is the way I adjusted mine too.

when I replaced the stock coilovers with my JRI's I decided to keep the stock coilovers, figured it would be good to have them to throw back on if I ever needed to send the JRI's in to be rebuilt.
Makes sense... I only live a couple hours from DDMworks in SC anyway so I'm sure they could rebuild and have them back very quickly.
-
You can use those for a down-rigger and not much else...
Yeah, they are worth nothing to me. Thought if someone needed some they could have them.
-
Anyone need stock shocks with 15,000 miles on them?

I was going to ask if you did this alone but I guess that answered that. First post made it sound like you did it solo. I'm debating trying to get mine installed this weekend. Just not looking forward to that bolt either.
You're not that far from me, bring it over and we'll knock it out.

I pushed the shock up through the hole and aligned the bolt hole and my Wife had the bolt in a socket and pushed through and started the threads. I put a little duck tape around the bolt head so it would stay in the socket while she pushed it through. Made all the difference. It really wasn't a tough job.

Nice fall ride through the mountains of NC and TN.

The easy way for the upper back bolt is to remove the retainer bolts from the top of the tub under the tail light. It is not a problem and allows you to get your hand to the top bolt area.
I got it with a little swearing and help from my Wife pushing the bolt thru

Went to SC and picked up the shocks from Dave on Monday. Got them installed this morning. If someone had told me they made a huge difference I'd of said "ya sure", but wow, what a different feel all together! Money well spent. I set the shocks at factory ride height for now and the ride I took was part of Hwy 30 near my house. Lots of tight twistys for about 2 miles. Set the compression and rebound per Dave's instructions for mtn roads and was thoroughly impressed. Great product Dave! If anyone's on the fence about the purchase tell them to call me I'll help the sale. The only thing I didn't like and it had nothing to do with the shocks. The upper shock bracket on the rear is a bitch and I'm sorry to say I called the engineer that designed it a few choice words before I finally got the bolt through the bracket. Anyway, I can't wait for a nice day to get to the Dragon and Cherohala. I'm sure it will be fun with the new shocks.
