thanks guys. I'm already a member of the Memphis groups. There's not much activity on them. Was just hoping to meet up with some other owners. I know the Nashville scene is strong. Maybe we can get the same interest in Memphis one day.

i live in Haleyville AL....down hwy78 or I22 if you prefer... im 25 miles from Exit 39 in Alabama. If you don't mind driving 2 hours. We can do it here at my garage. You may want someone closer and if you do I understand....I have put a few turbos on though.....
I have an air conditioned garage and several full toolboxes of tools. And a fridge full of cold drinks and cold beers if you prefer. And a car lift to raise it up to make it easy to roll around it on doctors office rolly stools.
If you think its something you might want to do....When you get ready to do the install I will need a week or so notice to make sure I will be in town.
WoW Rabtech what an offer! That would be absolutely awesome if I can be there and help with the install. I'm planning on waiting until around Thanksgiving to purchase it.(hopefully with a black friday deal). I will definitely keep you in mind and thanks again!

Hey everyone,
After seeing all the boosted SS's at homecoming it can't get out of my mind. Does anyone know of a shop that has experience installing a turbo within driving distance of Memphis TN. If I can't find someone local I'll probably make a trip out of it to go to MI next spring for ZZP work their magic.

Just curious if there were any Memphis area SS owners that would want to get together for a ride or something sometime.

just wanted to give a quick update. Dealer couldn't find the source of the problem. Finally tonight I found it. The bracket that holds the dip stick off of the engine was just BARELY touching the frame so at times it would make a metal rattling sound. I bent the bracket off of the frame about a 1/4" and everything is good in the world now.
What a relief to know that is all it was. I was not very comfortable with leaving the house for a 3k mile trip with it making a noise that wasn't diagnosed. Thanks again for all the help!

I'm hoping to get one installed when at Slingshots in the Rockies.

No serviceable parts on the steering rack...
Book states "no play allowed".
But, I suspect there is a bunch of these out there.
My steering rack was replaced for this under warranty at roughly 6,500 miles.
So, this would be a dealer call as to whether they replace the rack unit.
As you saw in the video, I pulled the boot back to look...
I then thinly greased the rack output shaft.
It quieted it down and possibly slows the wear.
I did the grease with the new rack and at 20,000 miles, I am getting that play again.
Personally, I think the rack is too light for our application and the output shaft support bushings are too soft
My SS only has 1200 miles on it but has had this noise since day 1. I'm going to carry it in tomorrow to see what they have to say. It's already been in once and they could not find where it was coming from. If it's just a little noise I may wait until after my trip to CO to have them tear it apart. From what it looks like that's a pretty big job to swap out the R&P.

With wheels straight and no load on steering...
Check the tie rod near the steering rack output shaft.
airoutlaw that's my problem! What do I do about it? Is there an adjustment that I can make? I'ld prefer to keep it out of the shop if I can

Hey everyone,
I've had my SS for about a month now and absolutely love it with one exception. It makes a metallic rattling sound when the steering wheel is turned to the right. It doesn't seem to do it when going straight down the road or to the left. I was just hoping that someone may have encountered this. The dealer has already looked at it once with no luck to determine what is causing it. I'm taking it back this week to give them another chance to check it out but if it's something common/easy to fix I would just go ahead and do that on my own. Any help/advice is greatly appreciated.

Thanks y'all. I went with the 20's. I'll post up some pics when they're installed. Thanks again!

Let's talk aftermarket wheels. What are the pluses and minuses of 20" vs 22" vs 24"? If I am planning on regular driving/taking trips and occasional "spirited" driving then what is the preferred set up? I'm pretty close to pulling the trigger on a set of 22" wheels but wanted some feedback from others that know more than I do. Any help/advice is greatly appreciated. -
