No grease needed in the rear (sealed bearings, I believe)....
Is is for sure a fact? That might be a good feature to have!

So I remember seeing a heat shield somewhere. Is that a viable solution to the hot feet?
What is the difference between the 2016 and the 2016 1/2 Polaris slingshot?
I'm looking at the base model in black that is a 2016.5 @$21,499. But I really like the 2016 Titanium Metallic color, and find it listed for a lower price of $21,199. So what changes did they make between 2016 and 2016 1/2?
Thanks,
Shaun
Thanks, I'm feeling better.
So I am aware the Sling Shot was not designed to pull a trailer, but I was just wondering if any of you have tried pulling a small trailer behind you? I have a small 16' jon boat and started thinking that maybe the SS could pull it short distances.
Wow.Just Wow!!!
I couldn't grow it on top, so a beard it had to be..............
Um..... you sure you bought the right toy.....
.
Well I'm about to get one. I guess I should clarify, I will not be throwing it hard in the corners as much as some of you young'un are doing.
Display Moredepends on your definition of "fast"
straight line? twisties? track? fastest 60-0?
you can have bigger tires, bigger motor, bigger brakes.... many ways to make it faster.
or just give me the keys.
Good point. Not worried about handling,
I wont be hitting the corners fast anyway. Just making the motor stronger, faster on a straight line 0-60mph area.
I've only found one! Noticed a couple guys have twenty-two. Not sure if they are still out there or not.
Twenty Two? I must be going blind..
I found like 8 eggs right off the bat not even looking. Then all of a sudden they are gone. Am I getting old and cant see them now?
So what is the biggest bang for the buck to make the SS faster?
Durante Ok Jones Powersport
I keep hearing that name come up. Is it pricing or just good customer service? It's a little over 1hr away, but if their price was right it might be worth the drive.
Are there any north Texas SS owners? I live north of Denton and am considering purchasing a sling shot. I would like to look at one up close with out a salesman breathing down my neck. Also any advise from those that have bought one, a good dealership with a good service department would be nice to know of?
Thanks,
Shaun
Great informative thread!!
speaking of...I've never understood how base and SL have different size tires, nonadjustable shocks and yet factory ride height is listed the same for both...?
Ok, So I just learned something!! Are you saying the base model does not have adjustable shocks? But the other models do? What is the purpose of the adjustable shock? height, ride, handling?
I'm in the process of restoring (and doing a couple mods) to a old 1984 Alumacraft Jon Boat.
I welded up a 1" aluminum frame for support of a fishing deck
Still a little ways off, but she's getting there.
For those of you that have driven a SS with a 17" and a 18" tires combo. Then went to the larger 18" Cast Aluminum Front Wheels, 20" Cast Aluminum Rear Wheel combo. What differences could you tell?
Thanks,
Shaun
This place has that "I can't believe the admins actually post and participate" feeling.
I'll tell you this....I have been a admin on multi-able sites for different hobbies. The admin's job is NOT a glorious one. If your heart is not in the middle of whats going on, it's so easy to get burnt out or tired being the referee. You have my respect!
Man, This place has a different "feel" already. I just started looking at the SS recently so I'm seeing there are different models. I'm thinking about getting the basic base model and upgrading the areas as i see fit. I'm not seeing a reason to purchase things that i will be changing out in the future Also that i would be paying interest on as I pay off the vehicle.
I'm a 50yr old that found a great job working at a local lake for Texas Parks and Wildlife. I have other cars/trucks to drive in bad weather. Just want something to enjoy driving.
