just called Polaris, a lady said she clicked a box to see if a 2016 speaker pods would work with a 2017 and she said the system says yes... haha...
She didn't leave me feeling confident.

mine is a 2017 model... son of A!
Ok, i cannot find those damn cables... I've searched in/under and cannot find it...
Almost to the point of just taking it in and paying the $200 to have them wire it up
it seems to be holding tightly by the push start button
thanks chavey2 I was on youtube trying to find a video before i posted this thread, obviously my search was lacking haha
With the rain, new steering wheel, shifter, and hand brake coming in, I'll be spending this week slipping my hands inside her to get this work done!
it's amatuer hour over here in Ft. Worth wokka
wokka these are the only 2 wires that i see that are not plug into anything
does anyone have any photos or video showing the disassembly of the dash to either take out or install the stock radio from an SL?
Wanting some imaging or video as a guide so I can install the radio without mishaps... if thats evwn possible
Display MoreFound some pics on the other site. Yes, I am plagiarizing other people's info and photos.
Here's the harness diagram. #12 is the harness. You can see the far ends on both left and right are the speaker connectors and they are tucked up underneath the dash on each side of the frame about where your knee would be.
And here's a picture of that harness. The red circle is that 32 pin connector that goes to the black box (in this pic, they took off the grey cover, but it's there). The blue circle is one of the 2 connectors that goes to the back of the screen. There's another one (blue or green or teal, if I remember correctly) just like it somewhere there too. I don't remember which plug goes to which port - google for a pic of it - but I do remember one is on the AB side and the other is on the CD side- not together. The yellow highlight is the speaker connectors your find on the outside frame near you knees.
If you want an detail of all the wiring, search the other site for "SL Hidden Speak Wires".
You're awesome chavey2
I did some searching yesterday after I finished installing the new steering wheel and can confirm the wiring is there.
Side note... I was not a fan of the NRG steering wheel because of the stitching and the upclose details and Assault hub adapter, so called slingmods and ordered a new NRG flat bottom carbon fiber steering wheel and the NRG hub and spacer to fill the gap
Anyone who wants to can sit behind the wheel, bounce the cushions, grab the wheel & smile (they ALL smile!)
Just the same, the passenger's seat is the CAPTAIN'S chair - no one, no matter how rich or pretty gets THAT ride!
Sometimes it's ok to give a lady a "taste" of the captains chair, let them feel the POWA
Display MoreRuby & I went to the West Fork Library today, I'm doing an astronomy show for them this summer.
The librarians also wanted me to check their equipment and be sure it was working properly...
Afterward, the head librarian asked if she could sit in Ruby & would I take her picture....
Well, okay... just this once! 😉
That's the head librarian?!?! Good LORT! haha
here is a picture of my Gopro wearing the wind suit I will be trying next time out - I really hope it kills the wind noise and lets you hear the motor
When can we hear some video of it?
I am interested in seeing if this works out
Was the base model set up with the wiring?
Not exactly sure yet. I figured the stock radio would fit, but was not sure about it having all the wiring. My initial instincts are that they do not have any wiring done for it, hence the base model.
I picked up the radio and back up camera from a 2016.5 SL from chavey2 and he let me know that the base model has the wiring already. Still need to dig into it and find out for sure.
the stock SS radio from a 2016.5 will work in the 2017 base model, right?
Rain in controlled environments can be fun
With the dash rocker controlling the camera, I can activate it anytime. Forward, backward or still.
Do you have a DIY on how to do this?
I still want to figure out how to keep the backup camera on while driving and use it as a somewhat reverse camera.
I feel like someone accomplished this already...
