Yup. The SS is not fun in the rain. I had the right front tire plow into a huge pool of standing water during a rain storm at about 50 MPH. Things got really exciting really fast. I needed a change shorts after that...

I checked today's forecast yesterday and it said a high of 40 degrees and sunny, so I knew I was taking the SS to work. When I woke up at 430 am, I saw they were calling for a 40% chance of snow at 500 am to 600 am but still a high of 40 degrees and sunny at 400 pm for the drive home. I never got dressed so fast in my life. I was trying to get out and on the road to work before the flakes started to fall. Made the 30 mile commute and not a single flake of snow!

    Good going!

I've been out as low as 15 degrees F, but it is rare for us to get much colder than that in Arkansas. I don't think low temperatures are a problem... as long as you have good riding gear and drive with caution.

Happy to go on a winter ride with you anytime! 🤠

Sounds good! When I left this morning, I thought I would get a call from the wife once she left for work and noticed the Sling was not in the garage, asking me if I was crazy...... but that call never came, so I guess that's her way of saying she's ok with it! That's the key tho..... driving with caution and having the proper gear. My coworkers arrive at work and say you must be crazy. I tell them it's more than what meets the eye. I tell them that they don't see me when I get to work. I go straight into my office with helmet on and all my gear on. I get into the office and strip down and come out like Clark Kent ready for business :-) Although the SS provides a larger footprint than a motorcycle, which makes it more visible, we still have to drive with caution.

My previous motorcycle (Honda Goldwing), I rode in as low as 18 degrees Fahrenheit. Today was the morning after we had a few inches fall for the first time this winter in Columbus, Ohio, I was anxious to get her out and see how the SS would operate. On the ride home from work the day it snowed, I observed the condition of the roads and highways looking for any run off of melted snow entering the road from where the snow plows piled it up. I knew it would get down to a low of 6 degrees that night and I wanted to make sure the road conditions were good for the adventure.

So with just heated gloves and my typical base layer top and bottoms combined with weatherproof jacket and pants, waterproof insulated riding boots.... I was on my way for a 35 minute commute each way at 500 am in 7 degree F temperature. I was actually overdressed and ended up leaving my face shield up the entire way to work. It felt the same to me today as it does in 25 degree weather. No issues and no frozen body part upon arrival at work. I did however have several cars pull up next to me and snap a picture on their phones. I'm sure my SS will be on several Facebook/Instagram posts this morning with the caption "Look at this crazy bastard"!!

I don't drive very fast and always use common sense. I take the necessary precautions and drive accordingly. I have the Grand Touring model, so the top and the tall windscreen helps tremendously!! I go to work at 500 am, so the low temp is what I normally look at each day and the condition of the road. If it's wet, I'm driving...... but if the roads are dry, not sure how low a temp would keep me out of this thing. When I bought her, I knew she was going to be a daily driver.

Farewell my friend. Thanks for the time and energy you put into your videos to support your fellow owners. I viewed several of your vids before purchasing my Slingshot. Take it easy my friend.....

Yeah, the slingshade is the only one that truly looks like it belongs on the SS, but between the quality issues and design issues I'm starting to think it's out of the running for me. For $3K it should be better designed and constructed than it is....(IMHO).

That's why I specifically looked for a slingshot that already had the sligshade on it because I knew if I didn't get it up front, that there was no way I was paying $3K for it after I purchased it. I looked at used models with low mileage but I always figured in $3k to the price. At the end of the day, it was more cost effective to get one with the top already included.

I get no flapping around at highway speeds or anything. I get more flapping around of the front two fenders than anything else.

I like the oem slingshade the best for a couple of reasons. It's stock, so the manufacturer makes it and installs it, so there's no issue with warranty or with mechanics pointing at aftermarket parts as the issue why something isn't working right. It looks the best to me personally and I love the way the tops flip up, even though I NEVER use the tops to get in and out. I keep them latched consistently because to lock/unlock them is a bit tricky and the wrong person can turn to hard and snap off a piece then you're screwed. The T-tops are around $1k each if I remember correctly! I never really liked the Slingshot until I saw one with the slingshot installed. I did A LOT of research before I pulled the trigger and bought my GT. I wanted to be able to take the roof on and off (takes me alone 16 min to remove the top and the same to install) and also take the T-tops on and off to create different looks for different weather related situations. The final pic is with the top on and two dry bags attached to the roll bars with about three days worth of clothing in each bag (but I obviously had to remove the wing tips to install the bag for a quick weekend getaway with the wife. All the slingshots just looked the same to me on the road and parked next to each other, so I wanted to be flexible and change the look whenever I wanted to.

When I was in the dealership with them all parked next to each other, I thought they were all the same but different colors. Not until I got serious about buying one did I learn the difference from talking to the dealer about the differences between the various models...... but for the most part when I see them on the road or parked, it just looks like a slingshot. The way that we each customize our slings is unique to each person and says something about us from the options we choose to the color we select. That's what I really love about the sling, the ability to make it unique and do whatever it is that YOU decide to do to it. Anyhoo, good luck in your hunt for the perfect top for you! I personally like to ride with the top on with the T-tops removed.

Here in the Midwest, you never know what you're going to get. I was comfortable riding the Honda Goldwing in the upper 20 degree temps with all my heated gear and a tall wind screen. Not sure how long I'll last in the Sling with a tall windshield and proper gear and a sling shade. I have also realized that driving this thing in the rain or when the roads are wet is unsafe. I intentionally drove it twice in the rain and all it takes is for you to hit the gas a little too hard and the back end starts to slip out. I was even babying the throttle and it kept slipping. No more of that mess for me. The Goldwing did fine in the rain!

Ohio..... first fall/winter with the Slingshot. On my previously owned Honda Goldwing, I rode in the low 20's as long as the road was dry. 25 degree was typically my trigger to drive instead. The Goldwing had heated grips, seats and a HUGE windscreen to hide behind. Combined with the proper heated apparel and wind deflectors'....... 20 degrees - 30 degree temps were not an issue. Snow or ice on the ground, then obviously I'm in the suv.

Thx for the feedback. Didn't know if it was just me here in the Midwest or if other owners noticed the same thing. I would imagine there would be more in warmer climate states than Ohio, but just didn't know hoe frequently owners casually noticed other SS's on the road. I plan to drive mine during cooler months as well as long as there is no snow or ice. So I won't be sure if I'm getting the "what the heck is that thing" stare OR the "he must have lost his mind" stare when the temperature drops into the 30's!!

I drove my Goldwing rain or shine and as low as 23 degrees with dry roads. With heated gear and a big windshield, it wasn't an issue. I figure with the SS having the taller windshield, a top and heated gear...... it should be even better!

I've had my Sing for about 4 solid months now and I JUST saw another Sling on the road just a couple of weeks ago while I was heading up to Put In Bay, OH for the day on the island. I live 5 miles from a Polaris dealership and I've seen them in the parking lot, but I NEVER see them on the road up here in Ohio and mine is a daily driver, except in the rain. I see a lot of interest of people jumping in them inside the dealership, but I never see them on the road. I know from looking at the owners map, that I know everyone doesn't post on, that there are other SS owners in the area, but I'm just commenting on how I never see them on the road.
