FunCycle if I remember you like to look "over" the shield. That also make a difference on how you want the setup. Me -- I like to look thru, so the F4 5+ works great for me. Frankie55 did you sit in my Slingshot when we were in the Poconos?

Yes & I liked it and I don't mind looking through as long as the top line is not directly in the line of sight. Thought it worked well with the baker wind deflectors. But I now have the top & with the top the NASCAR Style has a cleaner fit.

Tape it up with painters tape on both sides of the wind screen and cut off an inch or two. Then start with 80 grit sand paper on a sanding block and work your way up to around 2,500 grit on the cut edge. I think I did a write up in the DIY section.

Yep, I have done this may times over the years on motorcycles. I was just sitting in the sling an hour ago thinking just that. Still was hoping to look through the windscreen as protection from debris. Its an option.

    5 foot 6 inches

I'm 5 ft. 8 in. Another issue I have with the stock ripper is the top edge happens to be directly in my line of sight. I have a stadium seat pad that helps as it puts me just above that edge. Main issue is with the ripper has the edges tapered at the outboard ends. It was fine without the top but with the top installed the angle of the windscreen where it tapers deflects the wind in a manner that throws it concentrated directly into my face. As soon as I place my hand over that area of the windscreen its fine.

Perhaps the best option would be a compromise using the NASCAR tallboy (without the +2). I believe at 5ft. 8 in. that would put me below the edge line of the windscreen?

I do not remember with the stock exhaust. On @Summer Breeze's Sling we/he tried everything even with the Baker Wings. My new Sling II had just the +6 wind screen with no top and stock exhaust, it was like riding in an oven with NO AIR FLOW. So now of course it has one of my -3 inch wind screens on it. Something else while I am thinking about it. I got a letter today from State Farm, GET THIS they are insuring Sling I but will not insure Sling II.

Thanks for the info. FunCycle  EjFord I did notice that in particular the stinger top was an issue (with other than the NASCAR Style Windscreen). Another factor seemed to be many of the people had a turbo installed witch would add significantly to the exhaust (more fuel/more air/more combustion by products). Of which I have neither.

Your input is very much appreciated! I had my heart set on the Tallboy +2 and was going to order today but will hold, hoping for input on someone that has the NASCAR Style Tallboy or Tallboy+2 along with a Bullet Speed or similar top and using a stock exhaust.

    Thanks!

Frankie55 I don't recall anyone having a problem with top/tall windshield and OEM exhaust. With the top and tall windshield you can add the Baker 'Air Wings' that attach to the top braces. post #9 shows 'Air Wings' attached to top braces. One reason that the guys changed exhaust was 'heat' on passenger side...if I recall your wife doesn't spend much time in that spot, so there may be no real reason to change the OEM system. As you've learned by now change one little thing on the Slingshot and lots of things are effected.

After reading many posts I was thinking the same thing!

You got that right. Seems to be different combinations. Most seem to involve a top and/or an aftermarket exhaust. Other would include a cat-delete. I'm assuming its a catalytic converter? And the height of the windscreen creating a low pressure area. Most issues seem to be with the top/high windscreen and a rear exit exhaust. Most likely the exhaust is exited high on the back. That would make sense as it would appear the low pressure area would be drawing from high areas i.e. the rear above the aft faring and upper sides.

I have the top, I like it. Not to mention its a special order item. I'm OK with that. That stays. I have a stock exhaust its exited under and just forward outboard passenger side. At a stop or low speeds there should be no or little vacuum, should be no issues there. At speed I would think the stock exhaust as above shouldn't be an issue as its diffused and low in the slipstream?

I'm really liking the tallboy +2 hoping for some input from anyone using a stock exhaust as I have. I believe the NASCAR Tallboy +2 allows some cockpit airflow? Another option could be the Standard NASCAR Tallboy.

Any input from anyone out there using a tall windscreen, canopy and a stock exhaust having any exhaust fume issues?

The city council and mayor here are taking some heat for trying to stop it.

Not to be out done Philly is going a step further! That's not good enough! I can't possible see any thing that could possibly go wrong with this. Its a safe injection site. Wonder if any of the people pushing for this idea would object if it was proposed within a few hundred feet of their property? I'll place my bet it sure would be objectionable!

I bought a NASCAR styled Tallboy +2 after reading Br4hm4 ' review. That pic does an excellent job showing how the Tallboy +2 fits with the Top!

My first thought of purchasing a full windscreen came while traveling the interstate. I got clocked by a large beatle directly on the forehead just above the glasses and below the helmet line. I thought if it would have been a nut or bolt kicked up by a vehicle it would have been a disaster. Good point about fogging issues. Both valid.

I think I'm going to go with the NASCAR Style Tallboy +2. Nice clean look! Only drawback would be exhaust fumes in the cockpit. I've read of issues with some tall windscreens in combination with certain tops experiencing this problem. BKL  Br4hm4, kev or anyone else using the NASCAR Style Tallboy +2 along with the Bullet Speed V-Back Top (or similar) having exhaust fume issues?

Honestly the one thing I would never miss is my phone. I hate the damn thing. I was happy with just a land line. Now I have that, a flip phone and both my trucks have their own phones.

But at least I can wash the truck and not damage anything

I'm with you on that! For a guy most phone calls are someone wanting you to do something that will take away the time you need to do thinks on your behalf that you can't find the help to accomplish! Especially when you have a pick-up truck! Getting really annoyed with the spam on cell phones now!

Perfect place for a key fob since my new truck and my sling are key less.

Never lose the fob that way.. thank god my wife checks my pockets before she washes my pants or I would be out hundreds of $$$$$

I know the panic feeling when you start the wash and hear a clank and suddenly realize your phone isn't in the pocket of the jeans you have on :)

They keep making phones bigger. I always put my phone in my back pocket. I've been buying Wrangler jeans my whole life. Just bought a new pair of jeans and the phone sticks out the pocket at least 2 in. it was fine in my old pair? Great set-up for a pick-pocket. So phones get bigger & pockets get smaller.

Does anyone know what that mysterious pocket in the front is for? The little pocket no one uses that they could have eliminated to cut cost instead of reducing back pocket material.

Driving to work this morning I heard on the news NJ is very concerned over the amount of people leaving the state. Studies show they are leaving due to the high tax rate in the state (Second only to California but at least they have a beautiful state). Of particular concern was a study showing 50% of people about to retire are considering moving to another state (this includes my wife and I). It was said the state needs to lower tax rates now to avert a major loss of income in the very near future as baby boomers are retiring. A few days back they were concerned about the loss of income due to electric vehicles and the loss of fuel sales (taxes on fuel).

Please don't judge as I believe social programs are needed but at some point the straw breaks the camels back. I believe in help but I also believe in something called personnel responsibility. This was the very next story on the news. I suppose this is the answer to reduce this tax burden. I'm sure it will work!

They are extending the school lunch program to include weekends & holidays. NJ is a sanctuary state. Lets throw in free health care for all. Great stuff, any other ideas to meet the urgency to reduce taxes and stop the flow of people leaving the state?

Frankie55 I personally advise people against using the tall wind screens. If it happens to fog up you had better be able to see over it.

Good point, I forgot about that! Has happened many times on the two wheel motoring scooter. Had to stretch out and sit on the passenger seat or stand on the pegs to look over. Really scary on the interstate!

I might think about a go between height that I could do a stretch in an emergency situation.

    Thanks!
