There won't be any problems. It's no different than changing a battery on a car. It's on the front passenger side of the engine. Just remove the positive and negative cables, unscrew the cover plate, lift it out, replace it, and put everything back together.

The whole blurb is to cover Polaris's ass if you somehow ground the battery out and fry something. Use common sense when disconnecting it and you'll be fine.

I don't know about the newer slingshots, but frankly when it comes to the first few years I think the entire electrical system is barely adequate to power a bone stock machine.

Yeah and it's even more exasperated on the new headlight wiring/relays because they expect way less load due to them being LEDs now. I've heard of several people having issues tapping into them to power additional lights and causing issues. It's much simpler and safer to just run an auxiliary fuse block. I personally forked over the money for the Neutrino Element so I can adjust amperages on the app and set certain things to either "always on" or "switch on", etc etc.

......guess the electrical system on the new ones can't handle the current flowing thru.......

This is correct. Polaris assumes a certain amount of current is running for the LED headlights and driving lights, so the relays are enough for that current. Any more load and it can't handle it.

I would have run the strips to a fuse block though instead of removing them entirely, and have them turn on when the sling is on.

Every time I wash my sling I always think about the possibility of drilling a very small hole in these areas to let the water drain out .

I did exactly this after washing it one day a couple months ago. I watched what corners of the triangles the water pooled into, then drilled a 1/16" hole into the bottom of that corner in each triangle. Water drains out fairly slowly since its so small, but its better than having it pool there after washing, driving through water, or getting caught in a small downpour.

If the triangle light is on, something is wrong. Depending on what it is, the ride command or driver infocenter may have a code, but that light doesn't mean it's time for an oil change to my knowledge.

The oil is 6 quarts of 5W-50.

Yes looks exactly the same procedure as earlier models.

Yes but the older models could be accessed from behind from through the engine compartment, and you could remove the ride command from the front without removing the dash. The new models basically require the dash to be removed to mess with any of that.

My 2021 Slingshot was delivered with the center console bag installed and I'm wondering if anyone has this and how they access the center charge port? This blocks the entire center port area and I'm reluctant to attempt to push it out of position since it's unclear to me how it is held in place.

    Here is the bag:

I have the bag installed on my 2020, and the center charge port is accessible through the top of the bag when installed. I have a 12v splitter inside the bag and run my vented seat covers power plugs into it through a hole I drilled into the backside of the bag so the cables are hidden. They have inline on/off switches of course so they aren't on all the time.

If you don't drill out a hole in the back the of the bag, you could always just run a cable out the front zippered opening, and tuck it into the bag when it's not in use.

As far as removing it to take it with you, it uses 2 of the tork screws and 2 push pins toward the bottom to hold it in place. I never installed the push pins so my bag is just held here with the stock screws.

Yes, it does have to come off. There is a hole at the bottom of the wheel. Place a screwdriver in the hole until it makes contact with the surface. The push a little harder to depress the lock. The bottom of the horn button can then be pulled out. Top will still be latched. At the top push in, up , then out. The horn will come off. There is a wire attached. The wires go to a center connector. Disconnect there. Then you can remove the wheel. The only reason to remove the wheel is to replace the back cover of the steering wheel to accommodate the paddles.

yes I new my paddles were upside down. Decided I didn’t like it that way so I put them back the way they should.

The only other thing I did was paint the paddles semi gloss black before install.

Understood! Thanks for the walkthrough as well.

well I installed the paddle shifters and to it to the dealer to update the computer. All is gooooood.

Bgmactn Looks like they are upside down, but maybe that was intentional? It would put your upshift on the left side instead of the right. Pic of mine below for your reference.

    Edited for clarity.

On a 2019, you remove the shiny top panels from each side of the dash, above the Ride Command. They pull straight up. That exposes two small hex screws that hold the face plate to the front of the Ride Command. Remove that face plate and the Ride Command will come right out.

Unfortunately the 2021 has a completely different dash setup and the ride command isn't accessible this way.

I have been searching for directions for over 2 hours now. i have the 2021 r. This should be such an easy install but how do you get inside of the ride command so that you can bolt the thing down?

On the 2020+ Slingshots, you need to completely remove the dash to get to the backside of the ride command. I just did it 2 weeks ago to add some things to my dash. Best way is to remove both mirror posts, a couple of 40 torx in front of those, unscrew the small torx screws from underside holding the painted corner panels on the side of the dash, and a couple of screws on the underside of them above the side fenders. Theres a couple of 40 torx (I think) between the dash and hood in front of the windshield that need to be removed. There's also 1 pop-in on the underside of the dash on each side of the center console. You don't have to remove the windshield to take off the dash, unless you want to make sure it doesn't get scratched.

Make sure they sent you the little floppy plastic cutout along with the roof to help remove it. It will sit between the rear lexan panel and the door "hinge" and protect the rear panel from the hinge scratching it as you slide it off. Don't try removing them without it. I emailed them to let me know I didn't get it with the roof, and they sent me one by USPS.

I can post a pic of it later when I get home (unless someone else beats me to it).

Cman this is the plastic piece I was talking about. I would show you how it works on the gullwing roof but mine isn't installed at the moment. If you don't have this, email Twist Dynamics and ask for one. If you need directions on how to use it, just ask.

I find it difficult to get the wings off the top. It is super tight when sliding it back.

Allthingslingshot used to have a version of this gap filler as well that went along with their lambo doors, but its no longer on their website. You could get it in textured black or raw gel coat and they looked a bit better than the slinglines one. You can still see them in the Lambo door pics on their website, but the gap filler page is gone.

I'd think a narrow perimeter of 3M body foam tape around the perimeter of the stick-on convex mirrors (say 1/2" wide +/-) should be enough to get a solid seal on top of the 2020R convex mirrors.

Yeah that was the modification I spoke of. I was just lazy and was ready to ride with them and stuck them on anyway. I check them here and there to make sure they aren't loosening at all, but its been over a month and they are still going strong.

Edit: we will see what happens in this Texas heat in the summer though.
