Thanks everyone for the birthday day wishes. I had a great day. One advantage of my birthday being on Christmas Day is having all my family all in one place to celebrate. 🎂🎅🏻
I have a 2018 SL with ride command. I want to add the SSV rear speaker/ pods. I did some research and found a mostly plug and play kit from Xtreme Tunez ( formerly Sling Tunes). This kit has a upgraded amplifier and all the wire’s needed for the front and rear speakers. Is anyone on the forum using this kit? If so what are your thoughts on it? I have tried to contact Xtreme Tunez by email and phone to ask questions about there SSPowerPack kit, but haven’t had any luck in contacting them. Any information would be appreciated.
There have been a batch of Rockford amps that have been failing - warranty will cover this. The speaker wiring to the rear hoops is just fine. It should take no more than 1 hour to install the rear hoop speakers from Polaris.
Some people that want to go the extra mile will swap out the factory Rockford amp and put in something better - when doing this we make a plug-n-play harness adapter that plugs into the factory harness and has 2 sets of RCA's waiting for an amp.

Do you have a plug and play harness or a updated kit for the 2018 Ride command? I want to add the SSV rear speaker pods. Do you have a website that I could take a look at?
Yeah, this one didn't have any guidelines like that. Mostly did it as when I was doing research I saw a few guys using this amp for what I wanted. 4 speakers + sub and they mounted under driver or passenger seat. I went driver as all those adjustments are on top and I can pull driver seat even with 4 point belts in like 5 mins compared to 30+ for passenger side. Never had any heat issues, runs even better now that I have just a BT signal to it vs the ride-command signal and all I tried to get that working. I think it hits pretty good now too for a "cheap" setup by some standards.
I have a 2018 SL with the ride command stereo. I have been wanting to add the SSV rear pods and speakers for awhile now, but after reading about all the issues that comes along with trying to hook these speakers to ride command I have not tackled this mod. I did some research and found a mostly plug and play kit from Extreme Tunes ( formerly Sling Tunes) that comes with a amplifier and all the necessary wiring for the front pod speakers and the addition of the rear speakers and works with the ride command stereo. Has anyone seen this kit or better yet, does anyone have this kit installed on there ride command? I know absolutely nothing about installing stereos 🥴, so any information about this kit would be appreciated. Do any of you know of another plug and play kit on the market for the 2018 ride command ?
That’s what I did BEFORE the conversion but as you can see, HIDs may not work with this conversion. Not sure what you mean by ‘projectors’ but are there brighter oem center headlights for the 2020 model?
Webweaver1021 noticed you have the UAS air blasters installed. How are they working out? Would you recommend them? Any information good are bad would be appreciated.
ConnMan , I am registered and my room is booked. Ready for the SSITS 2022. I am staying in the motel across the street from the festival grounds, but let me know where that trailer parking is located on the festival’s grounds. I am all in for free hats, tee shirts, beer, Trump, and the hookers. I am counting down the days. Should be one Hell of a party in the trailer park.
Not a mod to my Slingshot, but I built me a lean to carport to keep my Slingthing trailer out of the weather. Only thing I like is installing the shingles over the felt paper. Plan on installing the shingles tomorrow, weather permitting.
Happy birthday DER , hope you have a great day.
Thanks guys - powder coat it is!! Now I can buy a small bottle of Mothers instead of by the gallon
I would have them WRAPPED if they were mine.
Bill Martin It’s been raining here in upstate SC all week. How’s the trickling creek at your house doing?
Welcome to the forum. A lot of good information can be found on this site along with some great members that can help answer questions you may have.
Happy birthday Bill. Hope you have a great day. Hope to be up your way soon. Enjoy the day.
Didn’t go anywhere today - the damn hurricanes are following me to the mountains🤬🤬. The nice little creek behind my house is now a raging river - some of you saw it during the rally - this is it today..
haven’t seen it yet but there was a big mudslide between MV & Waynesville - guess you can run but ya can’t hide holds true !!
Damn Bill Martin , hope all that rushing water doesn’t damage your moonshine still.
Display MoreI just replaced mine too! With an interstate group 34 from Costco, less than $100. It was a struggle though! Had to replace the oem connectors too because they were so corroded.
But it's a tight fit and close to the welter exhaust tube...
What do y'all recommend to insulate or protect the battery down there?
I was thinking of something between the battery and exhaust... Like a sheet of something either coated or protected with some kind of insulator?
It's like a couple millimeters away from touching...
That’s why I went with the optima red top instead of the yellow top. The red top is about an inch shorter in length. With mine installed and pushed as much as I could towards the drivers side I have about 1 3/4”to 2” clearance from the exhaust. Yours is probably too close. Wrapping the battery with aluminum tape would help. I believe Slingmods has some type of wrap for this issue. I remember reading here on the forum that FunCycle fabricated some type of heat shield out of aluminum. Maybe he will see this and chime in on what he done. Don’t wait to long before addressing this issue, I am sure it would not take long for the exhaust heat to melt your battery.
Started to Install the yellow top battery, it is a bear. In all the Videos Nobody Shows how to get the battery in the compartment. I made a contraption and figured this 45 lbs would be easy dough, also to correct the cables is hard to get to.
I ordered a new negative cable because the original one will not work. You have to lift the battery in an angle and it weighs only 45lbs
I installed the optima red top a few months ago. Absolutely no room to connect easy. Struggled with it for several hours before I got it the way I wanted it. Just a small tip, push the battery as for as you can towards the driver side to get it away from the heat of the exhaust. The exhaust will melt the battery if it’s too close. Got this tip from FunCycle before I installed mine. Good luck. 🍀
Frankie55 and you sure do get around , glad you're enjoying it ! Everytime I get a chance to visit the forum I check this thread to see where Frankies been with his Nascar !
I sent a PLUS 1 quad kit to New Jersey , if you see it around you wont miss it , ITS VERY DISTINCTIVE !
I really like the rear fenders. Haven’t seen any like that before. 👍🏻
D/S, contact Dave@DDMWorks. I am sure he can help you out.
