Something might be wrong. Best I EVER got was about 35mpg. And that was driving it super easy at 45 in a 55 zone. (I hated that drive.) I usually average 22-25mpg depending on the driving type. My most fun was getting <17mpg. Now I've got a turbo so I'm expecting <15mpg, or 10 if I can really push it. . . .

Okay, I held off commenting on this long enough.

SEAT BELTS SAVE LIVES. BETTER SEAT BELTS SAVE LIVES BETTER.

The standard 3-point harness is the MINIMUM required by law. But in my accident, the seat belt did more damage to me than anything else. Yes, definitely less than the steering wheel would have, but my body twisted around the shoulder portion and tore me up that way. In SSs #2 & 3, I went with 4.2 point H-Harnesses on both (the H-Harness is the one with the strap across the sternum to keep the straps from falling off the shoulders). It would allow the 5th situation to work with stock seats.

Mounted them just like MADDMOE - top through the roll hoop mounts and bottoms through the seat mounting bolts. This may not be good for a taller person as the top strap needs to be close to horizontal so as not to compress the spine in an accident. I'm 6ft even but very tall in the torso so I would not suggest that top mounting point for anyone who sits taller than I do. You may have to buy the adjustable mounting bars to raise that top strap.

DJohnson : Tell your girlfriend these things are VERY safe. To put it simply, the tubular SS Frame is the same as an off road dune buggy. In my accident (front end t-bone, 55mph into the side of a Mustang), the engine and transmission dropped down and to the side. The front of the frame pushed back in more than a foot (look on the exhaust side - there's a frame bracket with a couple holes on it - that was more than a foot backward), and the passenger compartment side frame actually bowed OUT, away from the passenger. Any passenger with me would have been just fine (other than flying shrapnel).

Now for an unpopular opinion: Do not wear a helmet in the Slingshot without a HANS device. I am ABSOLUTELY convinced that if I was wearing a helmet, the extra weight of the helmet would have snapped my neck, a la Dale Earnhardt. Spine surgeons have confirmed it (I know there was an article about it a couple years ago - google it). I am not saying don't wear a helmet - I am saying make sure that you wear it correctly for the situation.

Yeah, but we're not prepped for this. No snow plows. No salting. I saw one of the local cities was using earthmoving Cat Graders to push snow - but of course they stopped at their city lines and only did the main street. Still shut down today, rolling black outs, etc. Luckily I haven't lost electric yet, but both my daughters did.

Let's talk again in the summer when it's 100+ degrees here.

And of course, I opened my big mouth. 1st power outage for me happened at 4pm Tuesday. Seems to be in a 3-4 hour cycle of power on, 3-4 hr power off, on, off, etc. been about 5 or 6 outages so far. Last outage started last night about 8:30pm and ended at 11pm and has been on since (8+ hrs). We did not get the predicted 4" of snow again last night, but it still in the high-20's - which is a lot better than the 6 degrees we woke up to on Tuesday.

Daughter in San Antonio power went out at 2am Monday and never came back on. She and her room mates ended up moving over to a friend's house Tuesday AM as it was 40 degrees inside the apt. Was to go home last night but heard that a pipe burst on the 1st floor (she was on 3rd so no damage to her stuff). Haven't heard yet whether they got back in.

Daughter about 10 miles west of me came over on Monday as her power also went out at 2am Monday and apt was down to 50 degrees inside by noon that day. We took her home at about 8pm. The power was still off, but her apt was "warm" so it must have come on for at least a while while she was gone. She called me to say her power came back on about 10 mins after I left and has been cycling on and off too.

Road are not cleared by any plows. You can tell the only movement of snow has been due to cars driving over it. I did see that the bridge over the freeway was plowed somehow (maybe tractor?) but it stopped right at the concrete to asphalt line. I didn't go out yesterday (Wednesday) because we got an ice storm Tues night that filled in all the tire tracks with 1/2" of ice. I've got 30"+ icicles hanging from the roof of the house.

If you want a closed trailer look at entry level car haulers V nose

You can find them around 5K new. I have Pace Journey and it has served me well. Get it naked and finish the inside yourself.

Thats what I did. Got kitchen, bathroom, and beds installed now.

My problem is the rolling black outs. We're on for a couple hours then off. Supposed to continue into at least tomorrow. Even work has pretty much called it this week..

.... Now that I'm in Tennessee and two days ago it was 73 and I got the SS out for a short ride. I'm staying in the south for sure.

That's why I moved down to Austin Texas (further south than San Diego). But yet I am STILL in the F'N cold here. HIGH of 30 today and everything is covered in a 1/2" of solid ice. I took the Turbo out for a quick 5 min run on Tuesday at 75 degrees just to make sure everything was working and now it's parked.

Know how you feel James. Got the Turbo done - and now the SS is gonna sit for a while. Even got a 3 day weekend coming up - - - - and the HIGH is supposed to be below freezing! I moved down here to get away from the cold/rain/snow. Jeez.
