hey quick question, I am looking at getting a new rear tire, I am running a 305/25zr22 and wanting to know if i can put more sidewall on it without it rubbing. Everywhere that i look it tells me that running 22s I cant. Does anyone have an alternate opinion and with proof that you can? I have seen a couple of tires that I want to get but they have an aspect ratio of 45. Can I go from a 25 to a 45 without rubbing?

I'm running a 335/25R22 and it's probably got about 1/2" in additional height that I could do. You'll hit the curve in the swing arm before you hit the height or width.

Looking at the Discount Tire Size Calculator, there is no way to get a 45 aspect ration on a 22 and fit. You could do a 305/30 if you could find one.

When I was looking at 22" tires, I only found 6 that would fit. 3 of them were in the $600 range, 2 of them were no-names in the sub $200 range, so I went with the Toyo ST III at $250.

Looks like a great turnout! Were there any customized Slingshots?:P

Dave@DDMWorks what's up with the right hand drive? I thought maybe the pic got flipped but it doesn't appear so.

I looked at this up close. Yes, a completely custom flip to right hand drive. Hard to tell from the pic, but all that stuff in the right hand side of the engine was wedged in there real tight. Must have a small person working for him to get in there to bolt everything up because it was all completely tight in there. Note it's a completely 1 off exhaust that had to be welded up to go around all the pedal and steering stuff. Builder was out of Katy TX (Suburb of Houston).

And the left side of the engine was completely open with lots of room.

DKF'S Slingshot Experience 2022 Houston , rush trip , 1400 miles each way , left wednesday 8;00 pm and back Sunday eve, but what a trip . They like their LED'S AND STEREOS in Houston . The friday night ride was a couple hundred slingshots right down through the main Club Strip , They even light their palm trees there lol

kev - I was there too. Don't know how I missed you.

Oh yeah, 400+ SS there Friday and 700+ Saturday led me not to go on any of the "official" rides.

You can do more about your gas mileage with your driving style than with any tune. Even if you could get a tune made, all it would do is de-sensitize the gas pedal and put rev limiters in. You can do the same thing with your right foot - put an egg between your shoe and the pedal.

I had a ECM controller for my Chevy Avalanche that had an economy mode and that's exactly what it did. If I pressed the pedal, it would just rev up slowly and then limit the top to about 3500 rpm. Needless to say, I only used it that one time.

I have the Pedal Commander and a Stage 1 Turbo (with ECM tune). The PC does absolutely NOTHING except multiply your right foot. If you push your right foot 25%, the PC makes that 50-100% - that's all it does. Yes, it does make it more sensitive and as such, most people can just barely use it a couple settings above stock. You can do the same thing by learning to push your right foot faster and further.

If you're want real performance, go Tune 1st. Then when you get tired of that, go Boosted! Both ZZP and DDM make great turbos and superchargers. The only limit is your wallet.

I have it too. It drains more fuel into your engine and money out of your wallet. But it does look good.

(I was actually SHOCKED how much fuel came out of the stock one when I removed it.)

Sadly, your suppliers figured it out first 😩

Yep, it's definitely a sellers market right now. A couple years ago, I negotiated Consignments, Kanbans, Just-In-Time Delivery, and really long extended payment terms (measured in months, not days). Just today I had to cancel my 3rd JIT program just this year because we couldn't be guaranteed delivery from the supplier. I'm now having to build up inventory and place POs for 2023 usage already.

chavey2 statement that his suppliers have said “sue me”. My best guess is they have run the numbers and worst case scenario they have to give you the product at a profit agreed upon originally - just not as big a profit if you cancel and they sell to someone else. How many people are going to actually go through all the time and expense of a lawsuit for a small recovery unless you could prove Deceptive Trade Practices or Breach of Fiduciary Duty for treble damages.

Exactly right. I work for a contract manufacturer for a major OEM so I work on a cost-plus basis. Simply, I get paid for the new higher price and they pass along that increase to their customer too. The alternative is not getting any parts, suing with lawyers, and MAYBE get a settlement 7-10 yrs down the road. At which time I'm bankrupt. And in my industry, I've figured it out - it's $1 Million per HOUR. That new price isn't going to add up to that.

I hate to say this, but we are seeing this across the board in every industry. I'm in supply chain, buying $100's of Millions per year. The number of "Retroactive" price increases this year is just ridiculous. I have material that I received on consignment in the middle of 2021 that I'm now being told a 10-15% increase - for what is already in my warehouse!

I'm sure lawyers can give you better legal advice, but right now it's a take-it-or-leave-it situation where the supplier is breaking the contracts and just saying "Sue us."

Took a nice little ride with just a few friends. About 450 miles round trip, 35+ Slingshots, 50+ motorcycles and other 3 wheelers.

Gotta luv dealer support (Alamo Cycle Plex). He paid for everyone's lunch at the Town House Restaurant in Uvalde.

Of course, he also just bought a new Ferrari so maybe we need to talk about his shop rates . . . .
