David was a really nice guy. He stopped by and drove quite a few of our shop race cars. I just wish he had come when it was warmer as he had a hard time hooking up on the cold pavement and tires. Made for some good hooning though.

Is this the thin disconnect Kyle D ?

I want something like this - but would need someone to install it for me :)

You have both of the right parts in those links. I got my hub from Amazon who also has for a few bucks more but its "free" prime shipping and I got it a lot faster than I THINK I would have ordering from a different company. It's hard to beat amazon shipping times in most cases.

Amazon also has that NRG quick release 3.0 part for less as well.. NRG also makes a 4.0. The handles are slightly larger and look a little more like paddle shifters. For me this style was easier to get the wheel off when I wanted it off but was not obtrusive or ever in the way of anything. It just pushed the wheel too close to me. The part number for the 4.0 is SRK-700BK You can see it on amazon here https://www.amazon.com/s?k=SRK…tive%2C103&ref=nb_sb_noss or NRG's site here https://getnrg.com/collections…releases/products/srk-700

If I was going to go back to one I would do the one that Edward Neal mentioned https://www.amazon.com/gp/prod…h_asin_title?ie=UTF8&th=1 For me this would be a best case scenario. But if my seats moved front to back or reclined I would go with the 4.0. Just my 2 cents.

I did not do a quick release but I did use NRGs thinnest hub because my race seat is hard mounted with no slider and the standard hubs moved the wheel too close for my preference. NRG does also make a slim quick release as well. I am also a fan of the flat bottom steering wheels.

Got a FAST Red one on order Kyle D!!!!!

Thank you very much! Greatly appreciated. I’ll make sure it’s an extra fast red one. It’ll add at least 25whp. 😉

It is in the 40's here too... some high 30's in the mountains. I am heading up to look at some fall foliage... I live at about 6k and going up to around 12k it will be chilly.... There has already been snow a few times where we are headed.... :)

I know, dumb, but going old school.....

At least the scenery should be fantastic. I've always wanted to do a fall color run on something like Cherohala Skyway, Rattler, Blue Ridge, etc.

    New product for your Slingshot!

ZZPerformance is now offering metal coolant tanks for all years, makes, and model Slingshot. This coolant tank utilizes all of the factory mounting provisions as well as factory location for all of the coolant hoses, no rubber "adapter" needed to fit your factory coolant lines like other market options. Our tank is also a larger capacity than stock and includes an integrated sight glass that allows you to easily check the coolant level without removing the cap. We currently have gloss red, gloss black, or nuclear sunset orange sitting on the shelf ready to go but we have tons of Polaris color matched powders available at no extra charge. Only $139.99!

You can check it out here https://zzperformance.com/coll…hot-aluminum-coolant-tank

If you have any questions, feel free to reach out here or email me at kyle@zzperformance.com

Rock auto also shows it for $72 but there’s probably shipping on there which will get it close to Amazon and have a longer ship time. If you end up needing the slave in the bell housing, I have one sitting on the shelf but Amazon and Rock both have them also.

[quote='Frank the Tank',' Was told this is a Ponitac Soltice part, does anyone know the number?[/quote]

You can order one for a 06-09 Solstice. The GM part number is 24249817. Looks like Amazon has it for $85. CARiD shows it for $76 but I’ve had bad luck with them in the past.

I’m not bashing the Vanderhalls by any means. Every one is going to have their preference. In regards to performance numbers, they claim the Carmel with GMs 1.5T engine makes 193hp. However GM rates it at 163hp in the Malibu. On the dyno we see this engine making about 130whp. The Carmel is actually only 50lbs lighter than the current Slingshot R. However, with it producing more torque down low from the turbo and being more aerodynamic, it’s no surprise it will take a stock slingshot to Gapplebee’s. 😉

In regards to making life easier and more enjoyable, the Vanderhall did that for Funinthesun for multiple reasons. So that definitely makes the switch a no brainer for him.

They do drive and ride nice. Having to shake them down after we work on them has gotten me a lot of seat time in them and I’ve had a lot of nice 80+ mile cruises in them and while I have my qualms with them, I got them with the slingshot as well. I’m really just glad we have choices in this market to fulfill everyone’s needs.

The master cylinder is relatively easy. Have a pan under it to catch any fluid or use a large syringe to suck it dry first.. It's below and to the right of the fuse box. (See pic below) You can follow the hose off the bottom of the reservoir to it. Disconnect the clutch pedal from the master cylinder rod from inside the driver side foot well. Pull off the soft hose from the master. Disconnect the hard line from the master and rotate the master cylinder clockwise to "unlock" it and remove it. Slide in the new unit, reconnect both hoses, reattach the pedal, refill the reservoir with DOT 4 fluid and leave the cap off. It is an auto bleeding system. Push the pedal down slowly and hold it down for 5-10 seconds and let it back up. Check the fluid level. If it has dropped below the max line, fill it back up. Repeat until all the air is out. Using a vacuum bleeder also helps. Once you have a decent pedal, put the cap back on and give it a few more pumps without holding the pedal down which should help it firm up a bit. Then go drive it slowly but do some shifting which will help it bleed more by shaking any air bubbles loose. When you get back check the reservoir level again and top off if needed.

If you also have to replace the slave cylinder, that is in the bell housing of the transmission and the engine needs to come out for that. Not likely that is bad. The slave itself is easy to swap out but getting the engine in and out is a bit time consuming. Hope this helps a bit. Feel free to email me with any questions at kyle@zzperformance.com

We work on Vanderhalls at ZZP. They’re small and when two normal sized people are in there you’re shoulder to shoulder. It also doesn’t feel as safe going down the highway next to a semi. I like the way they look but even taking into consideration the “personality quirks” of the slingshot the Vanderhall in my opinion leaves a lot to be desired and the quality and workmanship is pretty sub par. I will say however, the Carmels we see in here seem to have a better quality of materials used to build them from an interior standpoint and are nicer than the original Venice.

I was chasing down an electrical issue in a customers and spoke to Vanderhall directly about getting. The wiring schematics and they said they didn’t have one and not everyone uses the same wire color coding. Hopefully things have changed in the last two years.

We’ve made a few with 200+whp and they’re pretty fun but I still prefer the slingshot.

They’re also very dishonest about their actual power output. I wanna say they rate them at 180hp but GM rates the engine at 135hp and that’s not at the wheels. We had our first one come in the year after they were released and we put it on our dyno to see what it would make stock before all the mods and it made 100whp. The owner was pretty let down as he was expecting to see numbers near 180. I had posted the entire build on a few of the Vanderhall pages showing where it started and where it ended up. Vanderhall called me at ZZP and told me that my numbers didn’t reflect what they advertise and I needed to take the post down or be banned from all the FB groups, which they own and have dealers maintain. It was early in the market and I wanted to play nice so I took the post down. The next day I was banned from every group, the forum, and my FB account had been tagged as spam and I was locked out of it and I was never able to get back in and had to create another one. I ended up creating my own Vanderhall group and reposting everything. It’s a cool product but overpriced for what you get in my opinion. I still like getting them in and making them faster though.

Here's another example of the EPA sweeping through and the government being on some bullshit. I will preface this by saying this company knew what they were doing so I'm not upset about the fines and what not. My main point of irritation is in the last paragraph but read the whole thing first.

This will ultimately ruin this persons life as they will likely do jail time, and it will ultimately shut his business down and likely bankrupt him. The guy is Kory Willis. He owns a company called PPEI. They were tuning diesel trucks and disabling/deleting the emissions systems and taken to trial for violating the clean air act.. He and his company pleaded guilty to the charges. PPEI and Willis will each pay $1,550,000 ($3.1mil in total) in civil penalties and agree not to manufacture, sell, or install any device that bypasses, defeats, or renders inoperative motor vehicle emissions controls. In additions, they cannot not sell or transfer the intellectual property associated with the products, and will destroy illegal products still in inventory, cease warranty support for previously sold products, revise marketing materials, notify customers and dealers of the law and the settlement, and train employees and contractors. In addition to that, Kory faces a maximum statutory penalty of five years of incarceration on the conspiracy count, two years of incarceration on the tampering count, and for each count a maximum fine of $250,000 or twice the gross pecuniary gain derived from the offense. PPEI faces for each count a maximum fine of $500,000 or twice the gross pecuniary gain derived from the offense. To give you an idea of the amount of counts, PPEI has tuned over 175,000 vehicles according to the owner. You can do the math on that.

But wait, it gets better..........So the President of the USA travels in his motorcade in that bulletproof Caddy named "The Beast". The engine in that vehicle has been swapped to a Duramax diesel..........I bet you can see where I am going with this........guess who was paid by the government to delete all of the emissions and tune the vehicle? You guessed it, Kory Willis and PPEI.
