over the winter I also had a poping crunching sound from the rearand I found the problem to be that the two rear pully nuts needed to be retorqued, took it to the dealer they retorqued it and fixed that problem. While it was there they decided to replace the swingarm bearings, why I dont know but now I have a ringing in the rear that sounds like an old bicycle bell.

Thanks a lot for the info I will try thr belt cleaning and see how it does, the ringing sound reminds me of the old bicycle bells from long ago, bet no one remembers them. Im also going to check the alignment i think mine runs to the left on the rear sprocket. thanks chavy2 for the info on the speed sensors.

ok I have 2 questions. first one is i have been reading a lot on tires and see people going wider but has anyone gone up from the 255/35/20 to a 255/45/20 without any nanny problems, i would like just a little taller sidewall. second question about 4 months ago my local dealer replaced the bearings in the swingarm for a creaking noise that was only caused by needing the two rear sprocket nuts retorqued. after they replaced the bearings i now have a ringing in the rear that sounds just like if you put two fender washers on a bolt and spin them, kind of a jingly ringing sound and only if i let off the gas after 60 mph or more, lower speeds no noise. they the stealer cant find the problem and told me they didnt know what to do and polaris wouldnt pay to replace the bearings again just to see if it would fix it. it was under warranty then now im on extended warranty. has anyone had this problem also forgot to mention i sometimes get a loud pop when i shift into reverse from the rear. rear hub bearing spins free and no side to side movement or grinding when i spin it without the wheel on. the sling is a 2017 sl and the dealer is performance east in goldsboro nc... not to happy with them!!!!!! :cursing:

Hello everyone I have 2 months left on my factory warranty and was wanting to get ya'lls opinion wheather or not the extended warranty is worth it , how has it worked out for those of you that have it. I'm thinking about the extra 3 years but it aint cheap. What got me lookin at it is my sling is in the shop now for repair.:/

I havent seen any sign of belt slippage but I will check it out. but now on the other hand retorquing the front and back pulley sounds good, does anyone have the torque specs for them or point me to them

Hello all, I have just started to hear a clicking sound around the rear of my sling when I move forward or backwards especialy at stop lights. Any suggestions what it might be sounds like a bearing to me but I dont get the bad wheel bearing sound going down the road just the whine of the L drive. It sounds like click click click. I have a video but it is too large a file to load thanks

thanks mike and orengeman the spedo was in metric, damn why didnt I think of that. if my old ass would have put my reading glasses on I could have seen kph instead of mph beside the fuel level

just took the sling out to the local bike shop to get a safety inspection and everything was fine. after I left down the road I noticed the speedometer reading about 75mph and I was running about 30mph. I have searched but can only find speedometer questions about different size tires. I pulled sensor out of rear and there was no crud or anything on it , sling shows no codes or anything, runs great just about 40 or so off from actual speed. 2017 sl all stock and is kept inside out of the weather, any ideas anyone?

ok I have used the search and read a lot about exhaust fumes and have a few questions. will a side exit exhaust straight off the oem muffler to the right side get rid of fumes or would a vent in the windshield be better and if I go with a vent such as a goldwing vent would one in the center work or two be better ,one for driver and one for rider? I have a 17 model with gutted cat and bullet speed top, oem windshield. I know people have already been through this so what was the outcome?

ok did the cat delete on the sling and as I figured I can smell the exhaust fumes now. I have the 2017 with the factory ripper windshield and the bullet speed top. I have read alot of the threads on this and was wondering if anyone has tried adding a vent to the windshield to help with the problem, such as the goldwing type or polaris razor type. if so would one in the middle be enough or would two be better, one in front of passenger and one in front of driver. using the vent on the goldwing that I had really helped in more ways than one. thanks for all info in advance also did the flap things inder the slingshot ever pan out
