And my thanks for the quick, no questions asked replacement of the snap screws lost in the trash by mistake when my installation was interrupted for a couple of days.

Magnet taped to a coat hangar solves everything

It also weakens your wallet. I seem to recall the conversion starts at $16K.

I was nibbling away at the black plastic covering the bolt with the limited tools I brought with me but when I got the bolt uncovered all Eric had was a hacksaw that looked like it came from Baby's First Tool Box.
-
Mitch,
All Eric needs is for you to cut about three threads off of the bolt holding the front of the stock middle fake louver hood insert to save the valve cover but see if the local dealer will do like mine and get Polaris to pay for the new style pads/bumpers. -
Actually, about a year after I bought it I loaded up the cargo compartments with some of my free weights to see if it would help but even then it was a lost cause.

The hell with a smaller battery. I would like one that weighs about two hundred pounds to enhance traction.

@Hernandeves5, I haven't met you yet but if a procedure tomorrow doesn't go awry I will be glad to help. I haven't done a top but have a garage and tools. We look like we might have a nice day this weekend and Eric can always lead you out here to the country. Glad to pass on the continuing help I get from our man Rock, who helped me again this Saturday installing DDM extended opening hood setup.

I would try calling the toll free number for Polaris as they do offer advice and answer questions. Get the name of the person who responds (a clerical person usually takes a message for a call back) so you have evidence should something go wrong. I did this over two years ago, although now I don't remember the issue but recall that the guy who called back was helpful.

Before I retired I was district manager for a regional petroleum company with a network of commercial automated fueling sites. When Ultra-low sulfur diesel was mandated, the engine manufacturers were up in arms since it is what lubricates the fuel system, and replacing injectors in a Cat engine for example can run into the thousands. The company looked at several additive suppliers and chose Schaeffer. They made a custom blend for us that surpassed any existing brand in lubricity tests. Google 'wear scar indicator test' for this. Had a great factory rep who used to go on sales call with us to help land major fleet accounts. Top notch company.

Note to Bigdog,
Please go back to your cave.
Yours truly,
The non-paranoid forum members -
Eric,
Thanks for adding some sensibility to what has become a moronic rant derailing this thread. Bigdog, your statement about liberals, commies, gays, etc. might possibly have surpassed the Politics Suck thread for being the stupidest thing I have seen on this forum. -
I have a crazy ex sister-in-law who swears the CIA implanted a microchip in her brain. Are you by chance related to Fran McDev_____?

Please be aware that those high numbers like 560 are great for wet handling and longevity but at the expense of dry handling. The lower the number, such as 200, makes for a much stickier tire for enthusiastic driving in the twisties.
-
Hey, at least it's relevant to the slingshot.

The Metrick's fender will definitely not fit with the exhaust that goes over the tire. Had the fender for years and I can assure you that it won't fit. I never put it back on after the warranty swing arm replacement because I had gone to a 315 tire. I see Doug a couple of times a month and I think the max size is 305 up to a 20" wheel for fender fit. He is almost done with a new one to fit up to a 345 tire and is taking the old one in trade. You won't find better craftsmanship or a nicer bunch of guys.

Not sure of production start date but I have S/N 0262 build date 9/14 which I purchased in November of that year. Still crazy after all these years.

Many thanks to all for bringing this to my attention. Since I would never watch the show it is comforting to know I can log on here to get all the non-slingshot crap I could ever want.

John,
The last time I rode with you and Velma the front wound up needing 'dental work'.
