Before I put them back on last month I put a coat of Maxcoat Wheelguard wax on them. After a ride I use an Air Force Sidekick blower and they clean right up. When I wash the SS I use a cheapo electric pressure washer but with the wax I have not had to make any extra effort at all, and a hundred yards of my driveway is gravel.

While I had the rear wheel out getting widened I saw a Forgestar style that made me, unlike other SS owners, spend even more ridiculous money for something else. Here is my baby now. They only came in 19's so of course I needed new tires-Nitto Invo-love a 345..
Other pic shows my Metricks fender back on it.

Nice. I think spoke wheels are the best looking on the sling. (shameless blurb for my marketplace ad for top quality set at probably half the price. Had lots of looks but no serious offer).

After reading about the price gouging quotes people were getting I was delighted when I went to the closest dealer in November of 2014, paid $49.95 processing fee plus $425 off list. Valley Cycle in Winchester no longer sells the SS but luckily for me Village Motorsports in Unionville picked them up and besides being closer to home they have treated me extremely well for service when needed.

Rabtech- Please change title of thread to : Derailing a thread-what a difference.

I have gone three years and more than a few quick, bumpy back road miles without any tape or issues since replacing stock panels.

I recently bought a red NRG set on Amazon for under $30 that were supposed to fit my 2015. Don't know what they were supposed to really fit but thankfully I got a full refund. Don't ask me how my neck felt for the next two days after trying to install them.

After over five years with the stock one I went to the +3 tinted and love the quality difference. Will miss my Baker air wings for summer but a couple of runs in cold weather have been fine so far.

For all those non-owners who think it costs 50-60 thousand, I can tell you after just over five years of mods, it does.

I am willing to bet the next model will be a 2021. Swore long ago to never say "Mark my words", but I think there is just too much unsold inventory at this time of year. Hedging with "MMW".

DER, this has the Bigdog seal of approval, and you're the one talking catastrophic failure? Come on.

To clarify my original post, the recall was the second replacement of the angle drive. The first one with picture of the fender to Polaris was no issue under warranty.
-
No offense Edward Neal, but your statement "you can pretty much guarantee that drilling holes would void blah blah blah" is an opinion not supported by my experience. When my swing arm was replaced under recall Polaris had no issue whatsoever with the holes drilled in it for my Metricks fender. Unlike some on the forum I don't have an opinion on most of the topics or an impressive number of posts, but to Dons' question I would say call Doug or Jim (or email) at 703-330-8883 and get knowledge from the source. You paid to get a fine product so get good advice.

Last Thursday morning before I left for DocGs' service I got a call from ethermion, one of DocGs' best buddies, who told me he had just been admitted to the hospital. Sounded horrible, even harder to understand than he is normally. Left messages for him the next couple of days with no response. The kid was getting very worried, especially after going through the recent loss of one of the Wrecking Crew. Well, I just got off the phone with Eric and he is expecting to come home tomorrow. He had been feeling crappy for a couple of months with no energy and unusual fatigue. He had low blood pressure, fever and pneumonia but feels and sounds much better. He has not been on the forum while in the hospital so I know he will love to hear from his friends.

Thanks Mitch for your kind thoughts, I will pass them along. One thing the forum family might consider to help Michelle out is that while she is planning on keeping the Sling for now, Greg had a "06 Goldwing Trike he babied and commuted to work with for years before SS came out but now needs a new home. Has around 106K miles but those in the know are aware that it has lots of life left. I will find out a value but if anyone is interested contact me directly at andyhatch@live.com
I would be willing to help get it delivered between VA and PA. It runs great and would make a good driver or project (Goldwing quad?) for someone.

A funeral service for Greg (DocG) Smith will be held at 1045 this Thursday October 24 at Quantico National Cemetery. I have notified the local DMV Wrecking Crew gang but wanted to post up in case I left someone out or you will be in the are by chance. When I told his wife Michelle a few weeks ago I would have to get a new suit she said "Don't you dare, Greg would be horrified, just come as you are." I will be there with the Sling to pay my respects to a damn good man and his widow.

I agree with Wokka on this setting. When the road gets hot again and traction improves I may change but with DDM S/C the change was still wild. Four weeks will mark my fifth anniversary with the sling and this mod renews the love affair.

Is there a similar shortcut to disconnect the negative terminal for adding accessories? (ahem, Pedal Commander).

I was off the grid paddling 150 miles on the James River beginning of the month to middle. Got back to email from Gregs' widow with the sad news. Glad I was the last of the crew to ride with him a couple of weeks before his first heart attack hit. Wraith, you were the last crew member I rode with when we went to the car show, so yes, we should all get together to salute a fellow veteran and crewmember. Gregs' door was always open, and came with the obligatory offer of a cold beer and a hot cheeseburger. A good man with a big heart that failed him.

When Trent first posted pics of his sling a couple of years ago with the fin removed my first thought was gotta have it. After emailing back and forth he sent me his # to explain things then sent me a paint by number tutorial on how he did it. I discussed the project with my buddy Doug at Metricks who took a slightly different tack in accomplishing the removal. Someday soon I will post pics of my repainted, finless sling but now is the time to thank Trent for his inspiration and help, Metricks for the execution of the project, and The Rock, Jdin, Wraith, and Lrobbi for their help in earlier mods. Five years of good times come November. Was off the grid for last two weeks doing 150 mile canoe trip on the James river from Buchanon to Richmond, VA and came home to find my buddy DocG passed away. Like Trent, I enjoyed helping others with my fairly limited wrenching skills and will always remember installing my first replacement exhaust and Alpha CAI on DocGs' sling after Dave at DDM forced me to buy the SC and TheRock did the heavy work installing it.
Keep paying it forward.
