I haven't heard from Tango. Hope he is doing ok.
I'm still alive though the monster keeps me on my toes!
Life keeps getting in my way of slingshot love - well, that and the damn weather up here. Looks like I may be headed to Texas so I won't have that problem for long.
Can't wait to see that white beast - so. much. win.

Basically my numbers are legit. And they are real. But they were made by throwing the dice and saying "go for it".
I do not recommend , endorse, or think anyone should be shooting for those numbers with the stock ECU and stock fuel pump.
I could have never ran at that level on a safe basis. It would have leaned out and popped.
However,,,,,, It is my belief if you can throw a football 200 yards one time. You can always say you threw the ball 200 yards...
Mine throws it 200 yards every time... seated in a chair, half asleep

Jesus. Who's the person with over 50k in aftermarket equip?! Someone with an amphibious sling made of gold perhaps?
Yes, with a V8 strapped to it.

Can you put a higher tier on the list?
Just label it "Tango".

I believe a lot more needed definitely need a transmission exhaust welding work on frame tuning I mean it's a lot more then just buying a crate motor and a conversion kit. I spoke to Henry at an event about it and if it were that easy and even any where near the same price to go ls3 I would have probably chosen that route . Maybe @Tango would be kinda enough to share just how much the bill was give or take
$25k is probably a good marker. Start throwing in more options like fuel rails, ceramic coating, cam, etc. and you can see $30k if you start ticking too many option boxes. Of course you can also make a RELIABLE 1,300 hp with it as well, ask Hennessey.
Some make coversion kits for the tranny but that is laughable. I have a T56 Magnum 6 speed and it will last longer than the slingshot. you will grenade the clutch and 5 speed with high hp. it was made for 200.
The difference with the LS3 is it is by far the most durable option. My motor is waaaaaaaaay understressed. My transmission was made to deal with huge slicks, 800hp and 4,000lb cars. It was used in the 662hp GT500 for a reason.
Having said all that... I probably would go the Alpha or DDM SC route. I drove the preproduction DDM SC back to back with my JonV turbo, as well as other turbos, and I liked the linear power better than the turbo.
You will coax more power out of a turbo but you will always have lag. Some love that rush of power when it spools up, I prefer the linear, right now power of the SC.
I've driven them all - Hahn turbo, Alpha Turbo, JonV turbo, DDM SC, and Alpha LS3 V8 and for the money, the SC is hard to beat. If money is no object it is an LS3 every day of the week and twice on Sunday but I may also be a little biased.

The track is fantastic. Challenging on many fronts and very difficult to master. You don't have to go fast to have a good time and most of the track is tight and technical so lower speeds and higher fun factor. It does have a back straight where I hit 145 so you can push it really hard if you want.
Several folks took passengers with them so it can be fun for the better half as well.

what's the plan for Sunday?
I could use a good ride - been out of town for a while.
-
@Tango how much boost were you running when the motor blew? Stock engine?
I unintentionally hit about 14lbs. It was creeping to 11-12 regularly.
I also had about 2,000 miles on the turbo and 4,000 total on the stock engine.

Not a stop on the Slingshot trail without a wrench day (night!) slipped in for good measure.
Not only is Macaws an amazing event host but owns the best garage south of the Mason Dixon - especially at 2 am.
