You may not like me anymore because I made a mistake in calculating the front area whereas I left out the windscreen which adds anywhere from 5 to 7 square feet. It's more like 728 hp needed for 180 mph.

I think a cd of 1.0 is way, way too high. A 2005 Jeep wrangler with top off is .58. The Sling has to be a little better than that - every surface on that jeep is nearly perpedicular to the oncoming air.

Andy (from Alpha) went 165 in mine during initial shakedown on the V8 - he said there was way more power but the front was lifting bad (still had full hood). I've seen 145 with a passenger monitoring gps speed.

That's over 400whp, a 6 speed with better 5th gearing and I've aerodynamically changed mine.

If I can gather up enough manparts I might try the Texas Mile with it after the additional 60ish hp is tuned.

Haha, no, nannies do not equal baby and quite frankly I don't really trust anyone to drive mine because it can easily kill you if you don't respect it.

The nannies are great (would LOVE to have stability control back) but it does add to the pure rawness of my machine. Kinda like an old cobra more than the mechanical insect/UFO the original is. Mine is like a boss hoss where yours is like a literbike. Both get you where you want to go really, really fast just completely differently.

Cool, just was wondering, did you ever get the traction control working or is that just a non issue now?

No traction. I may switch to Haltec or something else in the future but I haven't missed the nannies that much.

I would potentially like them for the track as we test the limits but for all out fun on the streets I haven't needed them (knock on wood) - I just go through tires faster. :)

So. ... What is the latest on this Sling? You had it in Texas right? Does it drive pretty well now or are still being tuned in.

Sent from my LG-H820 using Polaris Slingshot Forum mobile app

Sorry @StickerDick i totally missed your question.

As Henry says, it has been crazy reliable. I daily drive it when the weather allows.

Idles smooth at 600rpm and has instant throttle response. I have about 5,000 miles on it and other than the heat it was generating, was fantastic. Almost too fantastic to mess with... Almost ;)

Unfortunately I can't leave well enough alone and wanted some more updates.

Totally understandable for a speed demon such as yourself, personally i am looking for comfort and well as looks.

Yes indeed mine we NOT built for comfort. I find them extremely comfortable because they lock me into place. You have to be careful how big a meal you eat before you strap in if ya know what I mean.

The ones you are lookingf at definitely look more comfy. You probably don't need to sub belt slot like I needed which is one of the main reasons I went with the Evos.

Hope to see yours in soon and see a ride report here!

I was taking a good hard look at your seats when I was at Alpha. Love the CF backs to them. Talk about cleaning that area up. They look outstanding.
Would have loved to sat in it to see how they fit, but, I'll wait till I manage to connect with you in person for that, lol.

You are welcome to anytime. If you find yourself at Alpha and the Monster is there, feel free to try them out. I bought them blind but I lucked out with the feel. They might not appeal to everyone because they are a bit aggressive so trying before buying is always a good thing.

should have no problem with the length - they will just give you more thigh support.

Mine are snug at the top of the thigh bolsters but still slide freely.

Now I see the difference in dimensions from mine. They are a bit roomier - though i wanted mine to molest me and they are very good at that. ;)

sorry, just saw the other thread and posted there.

For anyone interested these seats fit fantiscally. If you ever see my ride fee free to jump in and give them a feel.

Also, if you've never had a 6 pt. harness on, you can give that a whirl too.

They look like my seats. Which ones are they? Maybe someone has already installed them?

Is a custom frame required or was this after the crash that a new frame was needed?

it was actually done prior to the crash and then again on the replacement frame. Henry and his brilliant engineers tore down the frame twice and put it together twice.

The second time they did it in 36 hours - tear down from one frame and rebuild on the second frame. Insanity!

I have both as well and run a Schroth 6 pt. profi. I also installed the correct seats and mounted the belts according to manufacturers recommendations (no harness bar).

I believe I trust Schroth who does nothing but make safety equipment for many many years for the insane vs. Polaris who has never built a car let alone crash tested one. No offense Polaris.

The whole issue of requiring a helmet with a seat belt is another huge problem as well. In the end you are just picking against risks: will you roll it? hit a tree sideways? hit a concrete track wall at 60 mph? In each of these one belt may be better than the other.

I hit a track wall at 60 mph with a seat belt and full face helmet in my sling. The lesson I learned is you should always wear a full face helmet, properly installed harnesses, and a Hans device when tracking. All of my injuries would never have happened if I had those things.

As far as the street, roll the dice how you see fit but Rab makes some great points about avoiding an accident as well.
