Forgive me if there is a thread somewhere that already address's this question. I did a search but could not find the information
@rabtech If this is a duplicate thread please feel free to delete this one

On Face book there is a post dealing with running a 305 tire on the stock SL rim here

A little background regarding stock SL sizing

    Front: 225/45/18 Rims: 18X7.5 Diameter: 26.0"
    Rear: 255/35/20 Rims: 20x9.0 Diameter: 27.0"

The recommended 305 size on an SL rim is a Nitto G2 305/35/20, which I do not understand it has a diameter of 28.43, which is 1.43" larger then the stock tire.

The Nitto G2 305/30/20 has a diameter of 27.24 which is very close to the diameter of the stock SL tire.

Why is it recommended to run the larger diameter 35 size vs the 30??? is it because the tire should be mounted to a 10" minimum rim width vs the stock 9.5" wide rim?
The difference in percentage from stock to the 35 is 5.2% larger, which I think would throw codes.

The 30 is within 0.7% of the stock SL rear tire

Now if we compare the % ratio for stock SL front to rear we have 3.8%
But it we use the 305/35/20 the ratio of stock front to this tire is +9.2%
the 305/30/20 difference from front stock to this tire is 4.6%

If anybody has information regarding running the 305 on stock SL rear. Please provide your experience and wisdom

    Thanks,

When I first started looking for low-cost wheels that would accommodate wider tires on the SLingshot, I tried a wheel from JEGS, IRC, but ended up returning it when I carefully mounted it and realized it only had about 1/16" clearance between the wheel and the brake caliper. Just check on the firm's return policy before you order and be prepared to pay more than a few Dollars to ship the wheel back if you need to return it.
I was originally going to have a stock Base wheel widened, but realized that can add its own complications and added costs such as a spacer to handle the changed Offset.

Yes, widening the stock sl rim to 12 inch is about $300
The spacer to offset the widened rim is about$200

I've considered this rim from Rohana in 20x12 that will allow me to run a 345

As well as this one in 20x11 that will allow a 325

I've actually wondered if I could just put either one in the back to see how well it would match to the stock rims, other then the 2 tone

Here's the stock SL rim for comparison

My rear tire is 28.45 and my fronts are 25.43.NO CODES on 2 different slings and have been running this way for over 18 months.
    Tires are Nitto 555G2.

@Slingrazor Interesting you have 3.02 inch difference in the front to rear diameters. That's very good to know that you have run it on 2 different slings without issues.

I'm going to check with my dealer to see if they can do an "ask Polaris" inquiry about wheel size requirements to not throw codes. Hopefully they'll get an answer.

    @BKL thanks for the info...
I don't find the stock SL rims to be unattractive, I wish I could get the stock SL rim in 20 x 11 or 12. I have looked into widening the stock SL rim and with the widening and the offset it would be between $400 to $500 dollars.

I think some people are running a 305 on the stock SL rim
Anybody know which tire and size it is?

    Actually I found it
    305/35/20 Nitto G2

    stock ratio (SL Front - 25.98" or 659.7mm, Rear 27.02" or 686.5mm).

Stock SL front has a diameter of 25.98"
The recommended tire for running on the stock SL rear is the Nitto 555G2 305/35/20, the diameter is 28.43

That'a a difference of 2.45 inches, is anybody getting codes thrown from this combination???

I see the 305/30/20 has a diameter of 27.24 which is a difference from the stock fronts of 1.56 inches. Is this the one that should be run and not the one originally listed above?

    305/30ZR20 103W XL 211220 11.0 27.24 12.32 10.5-(11.0)-11.5 1929 @ 50 34.24
    305/35ZR20 107W XL 211420 10.2 28.43 12.32 10.0-(11.0)-12.0 2149 @ 50 35.27

Casey, Tire rack has that tire in stock. $358 with no sales tax and free shipping if you need to get one. I'm running one now and have no major complaints

Yes you can put it in your cart, but when you actually go to purchase it it's out of stock.

Looks like you keep within an inch difference in diameter between front and back.

Thats what I was working working with as I've been searching for rims.\

    Looking at:
    Front 20 x 9
    Rear 20 x 11 or 12

Not sure yet, the 12" pretty much puts me in Toyo Proxes T1R but there is a nationwide backorder on them. Lexani has the same tire 345/25/20, looking for review / info on Lexani tires

Looks like the following combinations will work:
    Proxies T1R
    20x9 front with 255/30/20 diameter 26.1 tread width 8.8
    20x12 rear with 345/25/20 diameter 26.8 tread witch 12.6 (0.7 difference)

    Nitto Motivo
20x9 front with 255/35/20 diameter 27.09 tread width 10.04 (1.45 inch spread, might be to much ?????)
    or
    20x9 front with 245/40/20 diameter 28.03 tread width 10.16 (0.51 difference)

    20x12 rear with 315/35/20 diameter 28.54 tread width 12.52

    Thoughts??

    Thanks

It's possible to find wheels from other vehicles that match the front or rear sizes/styles for the Slingshot. The hard part is finding the same style wheel that fits both the fronts and rear of the Slingshot. For example American Muscle offers this wheel in 20 x 10 +48 mm offset - Mustang AMR Charcoal Wheel - 20x10 (05-14 All) - Free Shipping, but the matching 18 x 8 wheel is +30 mm offset. They also offer the same wheel in 18 x 10 +45 mm offset which should be on the minimum acceptable wheel sizef for a 305/30R18 tire. Unfortunately, they don't offer a similar 17" version.

Interesting information. Is the bolt pattern for the lugs on the SlingShot Ford Mustang spacing?

Old fender / mud flap removal. The triangle shaped brace with the hood pad on it. Do you remove it or not?

Drill out the 2 pop rivets toward the front of the sling and leave the triangle brace in place or drill out all 4 and remove it completely?

You would think that if Haltech was smart enough to design an ECM they'd be smart enough to design a cruise control. jes sayin

I can live without the traction control. After all that's why we added the hp was to break traction. But my cruise control,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,even a Harley has a working cruise control for crying out loud!

Traction control works, but the light shows that its off.

You loose cruise control, but my understanding is that you can use the cruise control buttons to have the ability to load different maps if you want.

I know a couple of tuners that are pros with Haltech here...just never thought it was in the reach as far as budget goes.

At $2000 dollars for the haltech, you are 1/4 the price for a tune from Bob.

If we can maintain a database of tunes like he does. We could share those tunes among ourselves.

Have 1320 exhaust... here's the tune etc

Seems Haltech will do some auto tuning on its own.

What I found interesting in the video is the reference to pump gas from fill up to fill up. It was actually learn the new gas and make changes to the map.

Does anybody know if the stock ECU has features like that.

After searching around, it seems that @rabtech , @StickerDick & @iNewton have taken the plunge to go Haltech. I'm sure others have also.

While searching around I could not find a thread dedicated to replacing the stock ECU with a Haltech. There were lots of references to "Haltech" on the forum.

According to Haltech website they now make a custom harness that makes the connection much easier to the Slingshot. The Elite 1500 with wiring harness sells for right around $2000
It states it works with 2015/2106 slingshots. Will it also work with 2017 and newer or must a new harness be made?

    Elite 1500 video

It would be great if users that are running the Haltech could post there experiences here. I'm sure there are others that would be interested.

To kick it off maybe describe why you went with the Haltech?

What your setup (motor, turbo, supercharger) is?

    Did you tune it yourself?

Do you think tune files can be shared for similar setups?
