"Showing Off Your Slingshot's Engine Bay"
Next topic is going and it's time to pop those hoods! Want to show off some pics of everyone's engine bay. We know there are many different builds and color combos out there, let's see them all. This does not have to be a simple photo of just the engine, get creative too. Can be a different photo with the hood open or something similar. As long as you can see the engine in the photo then it's gonna count and be included. Good luck! 👍
Deadline will be May 15th, 2022.
Rules and guidelines:
-The photo must be of your own Slingshot (real full-size Slingshots). If the picture submitted is not of your own vehicle, it will not be included in voting. And if need be, the photo will be deleted from the entry thread. It is known that some members may own more than one Slingshot.
- Use your own picture (not pictures from outside sources).
- Photo Shopping pictures or extreme editing is not allowed unless specified by the topic chosen.
- Stay within the competition's parameters (for example, if the rules are "Your Slingshot and Snow," only post a picture that has both your Slingshot and snow in it). Photos that do not comply with the topic will not be included in voting.
- Pictures should show off not only your sling, but also you photography skills. Be creative with your shots.
- One entry per member. Let us know which your entry is by typing "This is my entry:" above your picture. You can change your entry during the time of the competition but once time runs out you cannot change your entry or submit a photo. Once the deadline comes, THERE WILL BE NO MORE EDITING!
- The contest aims to last for the month, depending on the number of entries (competition will run longer if less entries are submitted, and
vice versa).
- After time is up, a new thread will be started for voting. The voting thread may be a "blind" poll, which means the results will be revealed after the end of the voting time line or once a member has voted. Forum members will vote on a winner. The member that wins the competition will come up with the theme/topic for the next competition.
- Once a photo wins a contest that photo will be added to the winners circle then "retired" and can not be used again unless for a specific contest.
- Have fun! Keep your comments constructive.
- Deadline: May 15th, 2022

Bump for those that have not voted
-
This one got busy quick! Well, regardless if you simply edited your color photo over to black and white or managed to take the photo directly with camera skills that are beyond my understanding this topic definitely turned out some great entries. Looking forward to the voting and good luck to all, going to be a difficult decision!
Voting will be open to all forum members, you DO NOT have to have submitted an entry to vote. There will be 1 vote per member that cannot be changed once submitted. Results will be shown once you have voted or the poll has closed. Voting will end Monday 4/10/22 at 10:00pm.

Well I don't wanna speak for all but mine and I'm assuming most are just edited from color to black and white.
-
This is my entry
-
I know... I have voiced my opinion... but in reality....
Well... there's the first comment on the matter I can 100% agree with.
-
Where you at? A lot of us myself included have the stock exhausts laying around and could probably help you out if we didn't have to ship em!
Ditto

Glad you made it back home and are hanging in there!

Thank you for the update. Guess when you know there's something not right you know. Hopefully they get it all straight and he'll be melting tires in no time.

"Your Slingshot In Black&White"
The next topic should open up the opportunity for a good selection of entries. Looking for a black and white photo of your Slingshot. With the years of debates on which color is the fastest or the many unique schemes that are around figured it would be fun to strip the pictures down to that classic simple tone. You can either head out in search of a new photo that could take advantage of a black and white look or just simply take your favorite photo and edit it to black and white for a new look and great submission. Most phones and cameras these days will make these edits with minimal effort. If by some chance you're not able to convert your photo to black and white but still have one you'd like to submit then please don't hesitate to do so. Just let me know in the post with your entry that you'd like the photo converted to black and white for the contest and I will gladly do so and repost it for you. Good luck and looking forward seeing the photos to come!
Deadline will be April 4th, 2022.

I am waiting on it to snow here to take a pic. Would just a frost do for us in Florida?
Lol. Absolutely for the effort frost will count. As far as I'm concerned you can take it to the beach and get a sno-cone. Where there's a will there's a way.

My apologies as I haven't been able to get the voting thread together. Going to extend this one out 1 more week to make sure there are no other entries and everyone has an opportunity. I see temps are on the rise so looks it's getting closer to ride time for more and more.

Just wondering for anyone who has done this hydrodipping before. How much (or little) product do you need to apply over the water to properly cover a piece? Is it a trial and error and you learn as you go, or does it depend on the surface area of the tank as well as the part being treated? Inquiring minds want to know. And done worry, I'm NOT going to go in business doing this. Just wondering if it's a "cheap" enough hobby to consider to pass the time on rainy summer afternoons down here in Florida
If you're completely wrapping something or have multiple sides it's easiest to cut the film like wrapping a present to make sure you have all sides accounted for. A single side can be cut a little closer. When you hit the film with the activator it will expand outward when it turns to liquid so you have that to account for as well. Always better to have too much than not enough though. Extremely aggravating to have a really good solid pattern come out and then realize you missed a section cause there wasn't enough film.
As far as hobby, it can be as cheap or as expensive as any other hobby. Just have to take into account the other parts that will be included such as prep, base coat, clear coat, etc.
The biggest thing to be prepared for down your way, especially on that rainy summer afternoon is the humidity depending on where you're setting up. Humidity can wreak havoc on the film and have you throwing stuff before the film ever hits the water.
But for something different and fun to try I'd definitely say go for it. They make diy "kits" but for the prices on those you'd be better off just getting some bulk supplies from a distributor and sourcing everything else local. Only thing I suggest if you are starting out is to find you some film that's abstract such as woodgrain, brushed aluminum, camo, etc. Will be alot more forgiving on your nerves while your trying to learn.

just to update people. My ex coworker who was a strong anti vax proponent succumbed to the damage caused by the Covid today. Her lungs were completely destroyed by the virus and the lack of oxygen finally killed her kidneys - anyway since I had talked about her condition here before I figured I should give this update
Well, regardless as to which side anyone is on or opinions I hate to hear that. My condolences. I know the path and decline seemed to really bother you as she progressed. Hate to see that outcome.

Grew up in Michigan, joined the Navy and stayed in the south. Love that picture!
Thank you. And I don't blame you, I don't think I could do much colder or snowy than Tennessee.
