That's the same boat we're in. Have had kinds of different animals. Cats, dogs, fish, reptiles, sugar gliders... never a bird. Have always been fascinated with parrots. All the reading I've done said the African gray is the most interactive and conversational by quite a bit. Been hesitant and the poop or getting pooped on or around the house but figured it could probably be no worse than the little gliders we had.

Sadly, we no longer have either of these guys.
I've been so tempted to get an African gray for years just never actually committed to it.

It's that time. Voting has started! I know many are headed to the valley. Hopefully everyone can find time between tearing up the twisties to pissing in Bill's creek to help choose the next winner. Everyone be safe and have fun!

What, no Waffle House??? The wife and I stopped at the one in Lebanon, TN last month. It was her first time. Can't say that about too many things anymore.
Nope. No waffle house. A couple small mom and pop meat and 3's. Now I will say just across the state line in ky there's a huddle house. I've never been there so I guess I'm in the same boat as your wife but have been told it's like a northern version of a waffle house.

Price? Where?
I wanna say it was going for about 7k per acre when I looked it up. In the 800s if I remember right. There's multiple spots of land going up for auction around here every weekend, only problem is most of them are being broke up into much smaller tracts. It's difficult to find a large spot such as that one being sold as a whole.
I'm in Westmoreland TN on the state line with Kentucky. We moved out this way a couple years ago to get further outside Nashville. Couldn't have made a better choice. Family loves it. Small town for miles. Couple small fast food places in town tied to the gas station and a dollar general. No major retailers, name brand grocery stores, or main stream anything. We're so far out of being crowded it's peaceful but still about 30 minutes away from bowling green ky if we need to find anything in civilization.

Momma is going for a senior vp position and if she gets it, it will really boost her pension. She will need to stay there for at least 3 years. I'm still looking for a place in TN and if something right comes along, we'll buy it now and just vacation there till she's done working.
There's 117 acres for sale on the road behind me right on the tn/ky state line with your name on it

Got some new headlights today. The Slingatti Lights by SlingMods.
Well? Thoughts? Opinions? I've been looking at them.

If you really think about it our entire voting system has what I would consider serious flaws - - it sounds great to say we are all equal and we all should vote or have the right to vote. but if you think about it is that really the best way to select the people who will run the country?
Would you pick the executives to run a business this way? letting uneducated people who know nothing about the business vote? would you let people who only take the products of the business vote?
Is it really unreasonable to have an exam that a person must pass to register to vote? is it not reasonable to want at least some basic understanding of how taxation and the government funding of things with tax dollars actually works before letting someone pick the people who will will making major decisions that will impact these things?
Personally I think not only should there be a basic test that must be passed before you are allowed to vote, but I also think you should be required to be an actual tax payer before you are allowed to vote - - In my view If you are not contributing money to the system then you have no business picking the people who will determine how that money is spent.
Yes it sounds noble - "we are all equal" and "we should all vote" but I think anyone who put any serious thought into it would agree that as nice as that sounds it is not a good way to get the best and most qualified leaders.
Seriously - when probably 50% or more of those who can vote are people who take more from the system than they give the system is already so screwed up what's the point in worrying about a tiny percentage of potential voter fraud?
Sounds like a simple 2 birds 1 stone solution... set the system up to cast your vote when you file your taxes.

I know we have some members new to the Maggie Valley area but thought some may have some experience over the years as well. Does anyone know of some reputable shops or tow companies in the area?
My wife and daughter went to the dragon this weekend for a group ride in her mustang with some fellow Slingshot friends and her brakes have locked up. The car is currently parked in one of the pull off spots in the mountains and they continued the ride in our friends infinity. Trying to figure out the best option to get her car running or towed out of the mountains. Didn't know if anyone here had any experience in that area with all the Slingshot events we've had thru there in the past.

Mine are as close to new as you can get. If Ed wants to hold on to his I'll be glad to send mine at a great price.
Well... I don't wanna take your bags either but if you no longer have a use for them I'm definitely not gonna pass up on a great price. You're more than welcome to send me a message with some details if you're ready to part ways.
-
my meazsling bags are holding shape perfectly - in face even now after several years of ownership they are the same shape they were when I pulled them out of the shipping box
On a random side thought, if you ever decide to get rid of those bags and not use them please send me a message. We use ours quite a bit and with them no longer available wouldn't mind having a backup set put away. Hopefully they atleast unfold after several years of perfect preservation, lol.

To change gears just a tad - is anybody watching the Johnny Depp/Amber Heard shit show?? How is this being televised?? I really can’t possibly think of anything I give a shit about less than this. What do you guys think- maybe I’m all wet ???
I just saw that on a tv here at work passing by. Just shook my head and thought wow... must be absolutely nothing else going on in the world today. That moment when you realize covid is over and Ukraine is on their own when we get the live play by play of actors under oath...
-
not even close to being in the same league as others here, but what the hell - its mine and it makes me smile
And I'd say keep on smiling! Could be wrong but I'm pretty sure I remember a post from you early on about how you didn't see it as beneficial to add anything cosmetic under the hood. That retirement seems to have awaken something inside you

Well. Never did I think I'd see a moment where I could say someone found a way to surpass the swimming guy with using this to their advantage. But here we are...

Putting this up for those like myself that may not do the facebook thing. Anyone around or coming through the Nashville area in a couple weeks would love to see ya! This is to support one of our original members.
