The Texas DMV classify them as a "Auto-cycle". I tell people it is a autocycle, not a car and not a motorcycle but a auto-cycle. I always get a "what?"

@ Slingrider - thanks, works great for me. Easy to locate, I just feel for the nipple. Can I say that? lol

@SlingRider - you need to remove the ignition assembly from the steering unit in order to plug the hole. Cover won't go over the key assembly unless it is removed.

My first mod was the fuse block and from there on it has been a never ending mod installs. My last mod was the harness seat belts and bar from Slingmods.

Sorry to hear about your elbow issues and wish you a speedy recovery. Just a thought but If there was an automatic Slingshot available would you buy it?

Got me some and they are very comfortable.

I installed my own and totally removed the key assembly from the steering column and plugged the hole with the plug it came with. I also purchased the optional switch to power the radio and accessories on without having to use the ignition switch. Installed the small button type switch to the steering column.

Just a thought, could it be possible the Slingshots are not hydroplaning but just losing traction from the rear tire from all the oil and other stuff that leak from vehicles that falls in the center of the road? Water and oil don't mix so could it be possible the rear tire lose traction because of this? Does any one know if the hydroplaning occurs on the front tires or rear tire?

I just installed mine this past weekend and it was a pretty simple install. The only hard thing was running the switch wire through the dash/fire wall and into the back of the radio compartment to connect to the switch that comes with the unit. Other than that is was pretty simple. No more key for me to start my Sling.

The same thing happened to my buddy from Fredericksburg,TX. A couple of weeks ago he hit a patch of water and the front left wheel locked and went off the road into a barb wire fence and then into a ditch. The whole front end was messed up pretty bad. After his Sling was towed to the dealership it was declare "totaled" because the frame was bent. He did not get hurt and came out of the accident without a scratch.
