Okay - meet Micky Da Mouse the do it yourself electrical connector. I surgically removed the connector from the side of the factor POS horn and then soldered on some short wires with female spade connectors. Decided to order a Hella high tone super horn off Amazon - Should be here today
single high tone - - Beep Beep! - - - - - has to be more noticeable than before
Horn cost 15.37, plus tax it was $16.79 - - making my Frankenstein connector cost $0 and about 30 minutes of my time and was actually fun
When the horn arrives I will probably just go ahead and mount it right in the stock location, but might fashion a bracket to make it face forward
Was considering scrounging a used horn, but with gas costing what it does these days probably cheeper to go this way
-
I am trying to do my own thing - dont want the exact same aftermarket horn & sound that other slingshots have - plus $100 for a horn seems crazy especially when a good loud horn can be had for $15 on Amazon or even cheeper if I hit Pick a part and pull it off a wreck
splicing 2 wires and putting a connector isn't that hard
-
I still may have one, let me know and I look.
Thank you - I found it on the Bmotorsports site and saved a link. after I actually have a horn in hand I will decide if that's the way I want to go
Thanks again
-
Use the stock horn wire for the relay control and run a separate hot and negative to the horn.
yes I understand that, but I would still like a plug that would plug into the stock connector on the stock horn wire so that it is easy to return it to the stock horn if ever needed
-
I would like to switch the horn in my 2016 Slingshot to something a bit more attention getting, I am not sure which horn I might get, but when I do I would like to make my own "plug n play" harness to connect to the horn that would then just plug into the connector that currently plugs directly into the stock horn.
Does anyone here happen to know what this connector is called or even better does anyone here have a link

I went the other direction... with a Smartthings hub... I have over 70 devices from cameras, TV's, light switches, bulbs to smart plugs, door locks, water sensors... and on... and it was too much for the wifi since most wifi smart (not all) operate on the 2.4ghz frequency. Things would suddenly drop off and stop working. I would notice when I was on a trip and wanted to check on my dogs that camera would respond with not available, and then later work. All of my stuff works off of Alexa as well and with only one app to use when I am away from the house. Only 20 of my current devices are directly connected to Wifi, the rest work off of the Z-Wave and Zigbee protocols.
I started this little money pit.... back in 2014 when I got my first Alexa device. The Smartthings platform supports over 5000 different devices from hundreds of different brands. When I started out, almost nothing worked with just Alexa... but that has changed. I have noticed that Alexa seems to be a lot "dummer" than when I first got it... Ex... I asked it "What is the temperature in Conifer?" Answer, In Concord North Carolina... "Alexa Stop", Alexa, what is my location, answer, I am sorry I do not know that one, Alexa what is the forecast... Answer, The forecast for Littleton is..... So It knew the location, but just gave off ball responses... Conifer is located about 20 miles from me and I do not understand why it gives off the wall stuff like Concord NC when I am near Denver... Long emails to Amazon have resulted in nothing as well.... basically it is the nature of the beast...
Whatever one chooses for for their Smart Home is cool... just as with the Sling... different strokes for different folks....
Edit... I forgot to mention I had to turn off voice ordering.... I have 4 Alexa devices two shows and a dot with clock and the original, and apparently one of them heard a commercial on TV that said.. Alexa order....... I got the verbal notification from Alexa that my order had been place.... Had to go cancel it....
Hey billythekidd Sounds like you are far more into it than I am - - for me it started with cameras, went with several different brands starting before they even connected to wifi over time some stopped working and got replaced and one brand I tried was abandoned by the company which left them non functional - after that happened I decided to go with the Ring cameras, I figure with Ring being owned by Amazon it was unlikely they would be abandoned like my other cameras were. could have gone with Blink which does have its own hub and is also owned by Amazon, but wanted the doorbell which at the time wasn't a blink option.
Anyway right now with just me and the wife at home I have a total of 24 devices connected to my wifi - that will jump up to 27 0r 28 when the kids and grand kids stop over - this should be well within what my router can deal with and I have it set up so that the few things that might need higher speed access like my TV are on the 5g side
My wifi speeds are pretty good I just ran a speed test on the 2.4g and got 103 Mbps down and 22.7 up and on the 5g I got 363 down and 23.4 up - - - my hard wire speed comes in at 477 Mbps down and 23.4 up - - - - - I find it interesting that 2.4g - 5g , hard wired my upload speed is the same clearly the wifi is not the limiting factor (my internet plan is supposed to give me 400 down and 20 up which of course would be the hard wired speed and it always does a good bit better) - - - but anyway not even close to having bandwidth issues - In the specs Ring says the cameras require an upload speed of 2Mbps or greater and mine are all set on motion activation so its not like they are all trying to upload data at the same time

I have a smart phone. Will this work without an internet connection? I have mq but it needs an internet connection.
you have to have WiFi in your home which would need to be connected to the internet
-
I agree with the plug in power source.... The hub portion of course is plug in, but the remote sensor uses a 2450 battery... I have to replace it once every couple of years. I have a 3 car garage and my main door runs off this setup since it was before this all came about. My third car has a new garage opener with the stuff built in...
Anyway one does it, it sure makes the old "did I close the garage door" question easy to check.
got to agree - not only does it make the question moot, it also allows you to close it without turning around and running home
Another reason why I gravitated to the choice I made was the fact that it didn't require a hub. I have many different things attached to my wifi, cameras, smart plugs and other things none of which require a hub - - I just didn't want a collection of different hubs for different things or if I did go with a hub I didn't want to be locked into only being able to use devices that work with that one hub
Also liked that the Meross is compatible with my amazon echo devices - I can walk in the house with my arms full and just say "alexa, close the garage door" and it does
also Alexa can also open the door, but if you say "Alexa, open the garage" she will then ask you for the 4 number code you have set - - this keeps the door from unintentionally being opened if Alexa thinks she herd the command - an added layer of security that I like
like I said in my OP $22 - - - I think it down right cheep for everything it does.
-
problem is you need the internet for either. I only have a phone plan
Well I guess if you dont have a smart phone then this is probably not for you
personally I love smart tech
-
Nice...
Here is one with a bunch less wiring...
very nice and looks like a nice option if you dont want to run the wires - - for me personally I like the hard wire connections and plug in power source, but its always nice to have options
-
Okay, this is not a Slingshot mod, but it is somewhat related and I think it is worth sharing as I am really liking it..
Bought this Meross Smart Wifi Garage door last week it was only $22. After you have installed the android or iPhone app and set it up for your wifi all you have to do is stick it on the top or side of the garage door opener, connect 2 wires where the wires for the garage door wall button attach and then run the included wire with magnetic switch over to the door and mount the switch. so that the magnet and switch line up when the doors closed.
Once it is installed you can check the open or closed status of your garage door from your phone, it will alert you every time the garage door is opened or closed, it will also send you an alert if it has been left open for more than 15 minutes. Also you phone can now be used to open or close the door even if you are not home - like to let a delivery guy put a package in the garage or any other time this might by something you could use.
Also for me I love that because I have an Apple Watch it also can be used as a garage door opener which is very handy when I pull up in my slingshot
Anyway, I know "smart" home devices are not for everyone, but for $22 I think this thing is great, Had my son in law stop by the house the other day to pick up some things we had for them. it was great, just left the bag inside the garage where it was safe and secure and when he got there he called me and I opened the door for him and then closed it again after he was done.
Anyway - just wanted to share

do most people run all season tires? How many just run high performance summer tires?
right now I have all season Nitto Motivo's on the front and a Nitto 555g2 summer tire on the back - bot the front and rear are rated as ultra high performance tires
if you are going to ride year round you need to be careful with summer tires. many of them have rubber compounds that are not designed for the cold and not only will traction suffer, but they can actually become brittle and crack and come apart if its too cold - - not sure where it was but I read somewhere that below 55 degrees summer tires are not good - - I am fortunate to live in a place where its warm enough that a summer tire can be used year round, but that's not true for many other locations

standard definition as per what 99% of the population refer to as African-american if you would have asked that in a room is not Elon Musk. Creating new meanings for definitions is not what you should do anymore. Your not good at it.
How hard is it to agree that the “standard definition” that the majority acknowledge, of African-American is a black person from Africa. Not a South African born white dude. And I say that because I have 2 friends that are SA white guys and they would laugh at me if I called them African-Americans (African Canadians for that matter). And that's one of those little things that has been bastardized by people with an agenda. every single person who was born in another country who has moved to America and become a citizen is normally referred to as a "Nation of origin" - American. My wife is a Filipino American, I have friends who would tell you they are Japanese American and Mexican American and Irish American - - - doesn't matter if they are white, brown, yellow or anything else none of them would ever even think it some how must identify the persons skin color - - - - Prior to 1988 most people would have used the term "blacks" and way back before that the term "Negro" was the term that was considered "acceptable" - - neither of these terms had anything to do with nation of origin, but then in 1988 Jesse Jackson announced that members of the black race should be called African Americans - - didn't even matter if they had any historical family connection to Africa - - seriously tell me why African American is the only hyphenated American where someone like you thinks it only the people of one color who get to be called that??? - - and please tell me what we should call white people born in Africa who have immigrated to America and become citizens? do they just lose their prior identity as Africans because they are not the right color???
Not trying to get on you about this Sparcky it just a pet peeve of mine I just really hate it when small minority groups of people think they have some right to stake a claim to something and then act as if they are the only ones with the right to use it. Blacks are not the only African Americans - heck I would bet most who call themselves this have never set foot in Africa - they are no more African American than I am Scottish American or my brother who was born in east LA is Chinese American - - - - if you were born here in this country you are not a hyphenated American - you are just a good old American
Oh and as a side note Gay people dont own the F'n rainbow either, if little girls want to hang rainbows on their bedroom walls they don't have to be gay and no one should assume it has anything to do with being gay - - - its not theirs!!!
-
Front <> rear turned around on the sheet.
I just put both sizes in to see if the tire came in both - wasn't worrying about putting them in the correct boxes on the tire rack site
-
I will add this - at the recommendation of a friend here, the next time I replace my tires I will most likely be trying these
-
Elon Musk is one of the few wealthy/powerful people that I have absoulty no idea of his political affiliation. Isn't that great!
its the way it should be
-
Bummer - - I think if I were having this problem I would unbolt the seatbelt from where it attaches to the floor - this would give you some slack so you could let it retract just a bit more and this might release the ratcheting mechanism so that you can pull it back out
of course doing this you take the chance that it wont release and then you wont be able to re attach it to the floor, but at this point if this didn't work you are probably going to have to replace it anyway if this doesn't work
anyway this is what I would do

Come on man ...
He was born on the Continent of Africa and is a first generation immigrant to the US. Removing political correctness from the conversation, that logically makes him more worthy of the descriptor "African American" than any Black person who's ancestors where brought to the continental US from Africa many generations ago. Again applying logic, if one of said people wanted to acknowledge their heritage shouldn't their correct descriptor be "American of African Decent". Especially given the fact that not all Blacks immigrated to the US from Africa or are decedent from slaves. If a Black American of African Decent immigrates to Canada do they become an "African Canadian". Or what about Blacks brought from Africa and sold in Canada for the two centuries it was practiced there.
"African American" as a descriptor for American Blacks has only been pushed since Jesse Jackson first started using it in his speeches in 1988 as an attempt to re-segregate American Blacks in thought so espousing that it is a "standard definition" would in my opinion be historically incorrect.

.......
.
I remember when Obama was in the UK giving some speech and he referred to the black people there as African Americans laughed my ass off. And laughed even more when the liberal media totally ignored it
