Welcome, and congrats on your decision to get a Slingshot, let the fun begin!

First off, do your research, go online and build several out, become familiar with the options and what they do and do not do for you for you. compare the prices. Unlike cars where you can get any model in any color you want Slingshots are model specific to the color with a few variations. So if color is important start there. Then look for the autos. Only 2020 and 2021 offer the auto. The 2021 has some upgrades to the Auto with paddle shifters and new programming. That can also be added to the 2020.

Depending on how bad you were bitten by the bug the best way to look at options, (aftermarket) and get the scoop on what they do is to see them and talk with people who actually own them. Get on Facebook, check out any Slingshot clubs in Albuquerque, get out and go to one of their meet ups. That is where you will get a true idea of what you want and don't want, They can also tell you about the local dealers who deal and service the Slingshot. They can tell you who has the cheapest insurance coverage for your area. Slingshot owners as a group are the friendliest people you will ever meet.

    Good luck.

If you have a 15-19 year model then Mobil 1 5W 30 is great. Walmart has it cheaper than anyone else in the 5 Qt size. For a 20 it requires 5W 50, NAPA stocks this oil, it is a little hard to find.

Waiting on permanent work from home status which should be June/July - then looking to move to TX. Now if Elon and these other big companies would of waited till I was there it would of been nice. Homes I was looking at are all up 200k over what they were 4-5 months back now.

Living here in central TX just north of Austin we haven't noticed the home prices rise that much. The housing market is hot now and has been for over a year. If you can, stay the hell out of Austin and Travis county, Taxes, more taxes and really stupid city council. There is plenty of room to grow around here since we don't have those beautiful mountains you do. Good luck.

Confusing isn't it ! Depending on your color choice, Budget, and necessary options you want, Like Manual or Auto their are two very important decisions you need to make.

First off where do you live, what dealer choices do you have?? Second the price. By letting us know where you live we can give you advice, based on actual experiences with dealers. Price is very important, you can make your own comparison based on the paper work you get. Most importantly is the service/parts departments of your dealer. Service is so critical since you can't take a sling anywhere. This is where you can get information about the dealership from other sling owners near you. Good service is King and will insure you are able to enjoy your sling long after the price point is moot.

    Welcome to a wonderful experience.

I really wish you had talked with Chris or myself before you bought that Slingshot. I agree with Chris about Ride now Georgetown, Austin and NB. I have had good work done by Austin in the past. If you go there talk to Riley or you are wasting your time. The two best dealerships for sales and service in Texas are definitely Alamo in San Antonio and Mancuso, Gulf freeway in Houston Since you got it in NB that is probably the best place to take it to since you are a customer of them. I do not have any experience with their service dept. As you already bought the extended Polaris warranty I can't help you save some money by getting it (same thing) from another dealer who discounts them.

However, I can recommend a good insurance agent who can probably save you money, you can check it out for what it's worth.

Good luck you will really enjoy your sling when it gets fixed.

    Central Texas, Great !

We live in Georgetown and have been involved with slingers all over the area from Ft. Hood/Temple to Kyle and San Antonio. We would love to meet you and can also provide you with actual experience with service departments at all dealers and offer you a chance to do your own oil changes on our lifts. We have a good size group of people and several "clubs" from around the area. Their is a wealth of knowledge about the slingshots around here.

Using the sling as a daily driver in this area is a great idea, the weather is perfect most of the time.

    Good luck!

Where the light strips go is a problem with the jacking points up front. You should remember that you will not be the one who jacks it up all the time so use caution.

You can move the strips to the side at the jacking points not directly facing down. There is enough room on the pipe to do this. When you do attach the strips get some alcohol and a rag to wipe all the surfaces clean.

Also consider this you may not want to power them off the ignition circuit, that would require you to have the lights on also as well as the radio and accessories. When we are at a meet it is nice to just have the strip and halo lights on. We have run them for several hours off the stock battery with no problems.

As for the fuse block Amazon has plenty of options at much lower cost, that is what I used.

    Good luck.

I have a little experience with trailers, we own 4 of them.

First get your tape measure and measure the outside to outside width of the front tires. Custom tires are wider than stock and rims have different offsets. A 16 ft should work since the SS is about 13 ft. long. However if you want more room an 18 ft would do that. I would recommend the 16 though.

Trailer Mfg's use different measurements, for example some V nose are measured from where the V nose starts others include the extra space. You can use that space to put junk in but not the nose of the sling.

I have an Alumina tilt 18 ft to haul our slings and Vette around on it is open. The only reason I went 18 ft was for the cars. I wouldn't recommend this trailer.

I would get a 16 foot V nose double axle if I had to do it again.

There are basically two types of enclosed trailers a cargo or a car hauler. The car hauler normally has the rear end that is angled down (dove tail) this helps but in most cases you may need extra ramps because the front end is so low it will drag on the ramp which is not long enough to avoid this The ramp should be heavy duty.

Tie downs. If you get a car hauler it will probably come with tie downs in the floor. You can see these in the picture above, or if you custom order you can pic where they go. Trailer floors are 3/4 inch plywood, if the tie downs like those above are just held in place by 4 screws good luck. One of the best ways to tie down is E track .It is held down by many screws and offers you a choice of how and where you tie to the SS. Foe example on the A frame or over the tire with a net.

One company that can make any tie down strap you need is MAC Tie downs, look them up on the internet, you can always use the cheap ass ones from Walmart.

Single or double axle. I would go double for two reasons. You can carry more weight and if your load is not balanced they do not swerve as bad . 7,000 lb. for the axles are ok you can go 10,000 if you want, extra cost, higher registration fees, larger tires. Keep in mind these trailers will come with electric brakes which will require your jap truck to have the connector for them and the control unit inside the cab.

As I said I would go enclosed. I know the SS is waterproof but the first thing you don't need to do at an event is look for a car wash or spend an hour cleaning it. They are not dirt proof.

Their are many options you can get which will make your life easier, most dealers can help you out.

Wokka, I cannot believe you didn't hear about this sooner. About a year ago Allstate who we were insured with got really stupid with their rates. Daniel in Houston told us about a net agent with SAFECO and we saved a ton. Since we both live in Texas this should help you. She is based out of Lubbock. Call this woman!!!
